Summary
In the booming Asian community of San Francisco in the early 00s, Denji and Power Hayakawa are twins failed by the child welfare system, and are now being raised by their world-weary cousin and his partner. Denji yearns for a girlfriend, but struggles to connect with girls his age and searches for love in older women, which gets him into trouble. Power doesn’t know anything but trouble, and can’t figure out why her brain compels her to act so impulsively all the time.
Asa and Yoru Mitaka are identical twins living with their strict and overbearing mother. Asa was diagnosed as autistic when she was little, much to the embarrassment of her family. Asa received behavioural therapy as a child, but it made little difference and Asa finds herself withdrawn into her own world. Outgoing Yoru is fiercely protective of her twin and will do what she needs to do to assure her sister’s comfort.
The two sets of twins have had wildly different upbringings, but maybe each pair is just what the other needs.
