J.J. reminded himself every morning to be thankful. To be thankful for life, to be thankful for being a successful defensive man on a successful hockey team, to be thankful for his family and most importantly - to be thankful for the brothers he accumulated by playing the sport that he loves. However, in this continuous basking of thankfulness and gratitude, J.J. has sometimes found himself feeling empty. He was told many times that he was a complex puzzle, full of excitement and whimsy but very hard to put together. Troy gets to have a happy ending. A celebration to finally be himself after all of those difficult years being a douche bag to other players. A celebration to freedom of loving his boyfriend openly, even if he mocked and called Shane a fag more time than he could remember.
And the fact that he now has to deal with a new, 'changed and pure' Troy Barrett feels like another type of insult that he could never address.
