First real thing I've written and posted anywhere. Not beta read, so idk just go with it, or not. Slay.
A original story based on a dream I had about a trans masc teen in a zombie apocalypse who is forced to adopt a toddler, oh and of course all the trauma that they both have. =]
Also, idk if what I have really counts as "Graphic Violence" but there is killing zombies with guns and the gore that comes with zombies, so use your own discretion please and if it makes you uncomfortable, don't feel obligated to read all of it.
It is also children and teens going through this trauma, so again, use discretion.

“What is a ‘field trip’?”
The unexpected question makes me stop in my tracks. I stumble over my own two feet and almost bite my own tongue which is a new low, even for me. If I keep going like this I am never going to beat the clumsy human allegations. At least Rocky is not here. If he’d witnessed my latest embarrassing blunder he would have found ways to tease me about it for a week straight. It’s unfortunate that my class has to see me like this but they are a lot more forgiving and understanding of their ungraceful teacher than my best friend. A fact I like to hold over his head from time to time.
Not that he cares. He maintains that he’s earned the right to mock me as much as he likes after having to watch me stumble and fall repeatedly over the same threshold for four years.
And maybe he’s not wrong.
Don’t ever tell him I said that.

There is no way Grace can take the pebbles on a field trip. At least not without help.

"Iz huhg," Grace sniffled out, sucking back in moisture from his noze, too. There was moisture and water and everything all over the place. "Huhg meens grayt, grayt, grayt affekshun."
"Oh," he said tentatively. Another hewmin thing! He shuffled closest to the wall Grace was huhging and leaned in. "Oh. Am I doing correctly, hmm?"
"Yis," Grace sighed out, calming down. He still leaked, though.
Oh, well. Leaky hewmins were his favorite, after all.

“Um, hello.” Rocky lifts a hand slowly. The rock spider chitters and attempts to lift one back. But it’s tangled in wire, and the force that the alien uses to tug it free sends his body reeling backwards and thumping against the side of the tunnel. Rocky tries to keep a straight face.
“I’ll call you Grace,” he says. “Clearly you have plenty of it.”
...
Rocky wakes up in the Tau Ceti system, with his commander and science specialist dead. How's he supposed to save Earth?
