Summary
An 'innocent' video of Ilya and Shane is posted, and their lives are abrutply turned upside down. Forced seperation, security detail, no-contact and broken hearts ensue.
____He knows who it is without having to turn around. Even in silence, in darkness- in the dim corner of the world, Ilya has always had a way of commanding a space and making his presence known.
“Made it five minutes before running. Is new record, no?” Ilya says behind him, voice low and cruel.
Shane’s laugh comes out wrong, hollow and sharp, because of course Ilya would follow him just to be an asshole. He turns slowly, because part of him wants to see if this is real and part of him wants to rip the reality out by the roots.
“Fuck you,” Shane snaps, voice shaking with rage he didn’t realize he had. “After five months of silence, that’s the first fucking thing you say to me? Fuck. You.”

Summary
Ilya flicks on the lamp on his nightstand for a quick source of light, the warm glow barely reaching the figure in the window. Ilya chuckles under his breath as he heads over to greet the intruder. Always a show-off.
He clicks the lock open before sliding his window up. “Didn’t want to use front…”
His excitement trails away as he catches a glimpse of the scattered splotches of blood on Shane’s torso, revealed by deep cuts in the fabric. Ilya watches the shallow rise and fall of Shane’s breathing.
To the plain eye, Spider-Man is unbreakable, practically immortal. But not to Ilya Rozanov. He knows the man beneath the mask. Ilya knows just how human he really is.

“Did I do something wrong?”
“No. No, Hollander,” Ilya coughed, eyes flitting around the room. “Is just– Is too much.”
“This is… too much?” Shane repeated slowly, incredulously. “We see each other maybe once a month. Less, even.”
“No. Is not that– You are just,” Ilya swore under his breath in Russian. His accent was getting thicker, the words clunkier, in the way it always got stronger when he was frustrated or tired. Shane hated himself for recognizing it. “...too much.”
OR
In the Heated Rivalry book, Ilya intends to break things off with Shane the night of the All-Star Game, but then Shane gets hurt. What if Shane never gets injured by Marlow, and Ilya really does break things off?
(Basically, a shit ton of angst and Shane Hollander learning to love himself. There will be a happy ending!)

There will be a battle over who gets more jealous- Ilya or Shane.OR: Ilya says he could marry Svetlana at the cottage, but Shane accepts it instead of coming up with a plan. They say goodbye at the airport. A new Russian player enters the scene and Ilya feels replaced. He is exactly like Ilya in many ways. Svetlana gets engaged. Hollanov is hella jealous and do not know how to communicate.

So he chooses to be neither.Ilya learns how far away to stand. One step back in the hallway. A glance that doesn’t linger. A pause before answering that gives him time to choose restraint over honesty. He’s creating a distance where feelings can’t reach.
