Summary
"“Good,” Lalo confirms, swipes his hands across Nacho’s shoulders to lay the seams down properly. Nacho can’t tell if he means the shirt, the posture, or both. “This will work, I think.” His eyes go distant for just a split second, looking past Nacho, seeing something on the horizon.
The final piece hits Nacho like a truck.
This time, this expense, this bizarre perfectionism. It’s aimed at Eladio, of course, but it isn’t for Eladio. It’s for Nacho.
Lalo wants Eladio to like Nacho, and he’s worrying about it. As much as Lalo can worry about anything.
“Just be yourself,” is the last thing that Lalo tells him, as they pull up to the Don’s compound.
What does Lalo think that means?
"What if It took Mike and Fring five weeks to sort out the tech problems and reach Nacho in Mexico?
Classic Lacho what-if semi-fix-it

Summary
Hollander stepped closer to the windowsill. Between a pair of empty designer vases sat a cheap ceramic lucky cat, white, with one paw raised. Hollander brushed his thumb over a small chip in the glaze. Somehow, looking was never enough for him. Whenever he liked something – the picture in the living room, the leaf, now this cat – he reached out and touched. Ilya remembered how, the night of their first hook-up, Hollander had touched him first too: fingers curling around Ilya’s arm, as though physical contact were the only way to make sure he was real.
***
House fic! Ilya longs for a
homehouse. (Un)fortunately, his hockey nemesis is a hopeless real estate and architecture nerd.A reimagining of the drought years (2011-13 - less of a drought in this version...) with heaps of yearning, some angst, Ilya driving fast cars, Shane drawing floor plans, the Hollanders, and cats. They take turns rescuing each other until they find their way home.
Now complete!

Bookmarker's Notes
Long but the writing is excellent. It takes some turns that don’t feel like a part of the premise but it all feels like it connects together in the end thematically at least. Kind of fun, that way. And a fun reminder that plot doesn’t need to be immaculate for a story to leave a lasting impression.
I really wanted to see more of the mechanics of Shane deciding to come out, or the open secret era. But that’s not to knock the story, it’s clearly more about what I’m interested in rn. Good fodder.

Summary
“Hollander’s Metros have had a challenging few years, with back-to-back knee injuries and a concussion keeping the two-time Stanley Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist off the ice for three consecutive postseason runs. Hollander is apparently back to fighting trim, but everyone’s wondering if that will still be true come April. The Metros have promised that they’re behind their franchise star one hundred percent, but there are signs they might be hedging their bets. The Metros announced last week that they have penned a deal with San Francisco’s dynamic young Russian star, center Ilya Rozanov. The move has sent shockwaves through MLH, as San Francisco was widely expected to sign a contract extension with Rozanov, who became a restricted free agent in June.”

Incredible writing. I wished for a tad more plot at the end but seriously good. I don’t usually go for total AUs so this was a pleasant surprise

Shane: When will you be home?
Ilya: Maybe 1 hour. Are you OK?
Shane: I’m really hard right now
The words hit Hayden like a body check into the boards, winding him immediately. He stares at them for a long, long time.

So long. Delightful. The prose isn’t anything spectacular and the plot is pretty straightforward but I think it’s the characters that carry it. And so unapologetically romantic!

Summary
“Am I a bad friend?”
Hayden has always been the guy Shane joked with, the guy he trusted to feed him without mocking him, the guy he roomed with on the road, and Shane is the only man who has ever seen Hayden cry, and Hayden loves Shane. He fucking loves him. They are like brothers, and they have been for almost ten fucking years. He’s always been Shane’s guy, Shane’s best friend.
Except all along, maybe that wasn’t true. Ilya Rozanov, apparently, had been the guy. Before Hayden had ever met Shane, Ilya Rozanov had been there. And Hayden had never even noticed.
Shane is all over every inch of Hayden’s life. Hayden thought that was reciprocal.

“You know I think about you all the time,
And my deep misunderstanding of your life,
And how bad it must have been for you back then,
And how hard it was to keep it all inside.”
