Summary
On board the Hail Mary, the Xenonite wall between Grace and Rocky keeps both of them alive. But it's failing. In three days, the air that lets Grace breathe will kill Rocky. The ammonia that let's Rocky breathe would be lethal to Grace. And all the while, Grace fights his own problems as an illness drags him under just when he can least afford to fall apart.

Summary
Ryland Grace is many things: brilliant, stubborn, and absolutely terrible at taking care of himself. He isn't exactly well-known for a bulky constitution or having an incredible immune system. In fact, ask anyone who knows him well and they'll say, "Oh, yeah, he gets sick. A lot."
But those who do know him love him and care.
After all, that's their Ryland Grace.
Or, a nine-chapter sickfic focusing on nine people (or groups of people) and how they perceive and care for a sick Grace.

Summary
Why would Grace be so scared to admit that he needs help? On Erid, when someone somehow falls sick, the entire family gathers to take care of them. Was that not customary on Earth? Rocky could hardly stomach the thought… humans suffering, cold and alone, with no one to comfort them…
OR: Ryland Grace gets a nasty cough when the Hail Mary is only about halfway to Erid. Rocky doesn’t know what to do, or how to help, until it might be too late.

Summary
When Rocky wakes up after Adrian, he's relieved they're both alive, but immediately knows that something is off with Grace. He's having trouble breathing, sleeping a lot, and spiking fevers. As much as Grace wants to blame it on lung irritation from the ammonia in Rocky's atmosphere, Rocky knows he's downplaying it, and it's not going to work.
However, before he can actually do anything about it, the ship's power goes out. Taumoeba have gotten into the fuel and eaten all the astrophage, leaving them with no choice but to steal from the beetles.
Which are on the outside of the ship.
Which means two EVAs and a lot of lab work for Grace, all while his condition declines from what's quickly turning into a serious health problem. All Rocky can do is make sure he has what he needs and try to take care of him as best he can from afar, hoping they can get to safety before Grace's health is too fragile to recover.Bookmarked by Criice33

Summary
It would have probably been best if Grace recovered a few more memories of his life on Earth before asking the Eridians to synthesize alcohol for him. Like, maybe, all the memories of how dependent he used to be on substances and how much of a train wreck his life was whenever he let them control him. Surely, though, things will be different on an alien planet.
