Summary
It's easy, Wemmbu thinks, to forget about this misery when there's someone else with him. The room is only illuminated by a lapping flame from a lantern he had the forethought to craft before coming back, leaving the room drenched in shadow and Jaden's expression ever the more difficult to see. He looks softer without his mask, all smug and pleased with his undivided attention on Wemmbu in a way that makes him squirm.
or: Wemmbu really, really does not love how empty his new home is. Jaden is there to fill it.

It was an accident.
Completely unintentional.
He had sprinted into the tree house, desperate to use the bathroom. ManePear wasn't opposed to peeing outside, having done so during long stakeout missions, but he tried to keep up the semblance of civility since he was home and had a bathroom. Plus, as he had someone else living with him, he didn't want to accidentally expose himself to them.
His ears didn't catch the running water of a scalding shower as he pushed inside, hands already unbuckling his cargo pants to free himself.
But he sure had gotten an eyeful of Wemmbu's mortified face, his scream, and his nude, smooth body. The transparent shower curtain does nothing to block it.
He had yelled back, eyes unable to look away as Wemmbu's hands tried to cover his intimate bits. But it was too late.
ManePear had to pee outside anyway.

Finding Eggchan should be Wemmbu's only priority.
But FlameFrags is here, and their alliance is as infuriatingly effective as ever—so is the way they keep ending up tangled in his sheets. It's been months. Wemmbu missed the rivalry. The sex, too. The way they push and pull and pretend it all means nothing.

If Lettuce was understanding him correctly, Wemmbu knew he wasn’t giving up his chance to bring him back to the law. And was offering to have sex with him anyways. He felt himself smile as he looked down at Wemmbu.
He was 100% scheming something and Lettuce couldn’t find it in himself to care.
“You’re playing a dangerous game, Princess.”
It was horrifically endearing watching him try and be seductive. It was dangerous. It was working.
