Wei Wuxian found himself rendered a bit speechless, “Um… A mate? I thought you said he was neutered?”
“What’s a mate, Baba?” A-Yuan turned to question.

He turned the corner in a flash, only for a thick, leather-gloved hand to grab him by the throat and slam him against the wall. A dry gasp tore through him. Tears distorted his vision like a funhouse mirror, scent flaring in warning. The blood rushing to his head brought a flush of heat, in sharp contrast to the chill of the marble wall at his back.
Instinct brought his hands to his neck in a desperate attempt to peel those fingers away, the leather a sickening kind of sticky on his sweaty skin.
