Summary
Queen Regina is a portrait of self-loathing, drowning in the loss of control that has repeatedly been stripped from her since she was a child. Regina quickly becomes infatuated with him, obsessed with exercising control over something of her own, almost enjoying the way he distracts her from the rest of her hellish life. Summary
Xena is the Conqueror. The Empress, the Queen, a feared warlord with more blood on her hands than in her veins. She is feared by all, hated by many, and loved by none. Her empire is vast, but tearing at the seams. She maintains control of her realm as she maintains control within herself; with violence, and with pain.
One night, a choice is laid in her lap. Stay, and follow her present path to death and ruin, and perpetual torture in Tartarus. Stay, and remain soulless, an empty vessel of hate, rage, and pain. Or leave, take the path of change, and take with her a woman who, according to a god who would not reveal her name, carries the key to redeeming her soul. To do this, she must get this woman to forgive her, to trust her, and to unlearn what it is to fear her.
Can she do it? Probably not. Certainly she has her doubts. But does she take the path untrodden?
Yes, yes she does.
Oh, and the name of the woman, this key?
Gabrielle, of course.
