“That… that was so long ago. How do you--” you began.
“So you do remember?” he questioned, and you shut your gaping mouth. He leaned over, gathering in your personal space quickly. You followed his lead and fell back from your place on your knees, to your rear, and kept your eyes on his. He continued to move, and thankfully, you continued to breathe. Until he is against your ear, you don’t budge an inch. You’re afraid you’ll do something to spook him away, like an animal. But he doesn’t. Instead, his words dripped from his lips like honey.
“Can I see them now?” On some kind of instinct, your arms rocketed from your lap to the collar of his uniform. Fingers tightened against the cotton, like a lifeline, and it rose a chuckle from Sanemi’s chest. “Hmm… I take that as a yes?”
