Summary
Turtle is hopeless. He's wracked by guilt over tragedies in the Sea Kingdom, both past and present; Kinkajou avoids him ever since the love spell; he's finding himself increasingly content with idea of retreating to the familiar burrow of safe, deadened nothingness at the bottom of his mind and just... hiding there. Forever.
Peril is also hopeless - convinced of her inherent monstrosity; crushed under the weight of the arena; still a bit clueless about these "relationship" things - but she's relentlessly persistent in her friendship. She's always there to drag Turtle out of his mental retreats, and, when he tries to flee Jade Mountain and all of his problems with it? She's ready to follow him halfway across the continent, if that's what it takes.
But Turtle's anxieties are going to catch up with him much sooner than that - and when they do? Perhaps two hopeless dragons can find something more than hopelessness in each other.
