Summary
Sinners, even in life, are punished by the damned. But now, the rightfully cruel voices have abandoned Veronica's every step and word. Atonement, if possible, can't be found if there's no angel of vengeance. So she takes it upon herself to right the wrongs her crimes have left her.
Worthiness comes from winning, but Veronica is no winner. Facing various school troubles and a wave of bullying classmates, Veronica's life plans have not panned out. Now buried in work and studies, she aims to amend her failures before High School starts so she can get ahead just like planned. However, the introduction of a new kid on campus completely derails her set expectations.

Summary
The moonlight shines on the crown of Veronica's head, painting it as a silvery halo while a steely yet unfocused gaze wanders to his own. Her hair is messy and her cheeks are flushed, and there's a sort of reckless determination hanging off of her that J.D.'s never seen before. Something's happened.
"What are you doing in my room?" he asks, his eyes narrowed and his stance cautious as he hurries to his feet. His limbs are still slightly lethargic as he stands, but full awareness comes back to him in a rush as she takes a step closer.
"Sh." It's a long, hissing sound. The sort of noise a bomb makes before setting off, that a stick of TNT fizzles with before the inevitable explosion hits.
J.D. can't help but find himself enraptured by it.
OR: J.D.'s thoughts the night Veronica broke into his house- and on all that ensued as a result.

“Anyway, I don’t feel sorry for you,” she declares after a moment, like she hasn’t just caused his brain to shoot out the top of his head like the cap on a bottle of fucking mentos and Coke. “You’re actually pretty lucky, when you think about it. What if you’d had to read The Great Gatsby at every high school you’ve been to? Ten times in four years.”
“Oh,” JD says without thinking, “then I definitely would have turned to homicide earlier.”
Fortunately, a little surprisingly (possibly to both of them), Veronica laughs.
Noted, JD thinks with relief, as he slides an arm around her waist, grinning and reaching for the mixing bowl with his other hand. Nice to know pretending to be normal has its limits.(Baking brownies, going bowling, and other attempts at being a normal couple of seventeen-year-olds in love.)

She doesn’t recognise it as pride at first. Her hand shakes and the gun feels too cool in her palm, too blatantly there that she can only make sense of the adrenaline rushing through her and JD telling her to move. When she’s sitting down to dinner that evening, she thinks she’s convinced herself it didn’t happen. She doesn’t have to acknowledge that they killed Kurt and Ram if she doesn’t want to. But when she’s making her breakfast the next morning and she still hasn’t felt an inch of remorse, she has to wonder why. Killing heather was an accident, one caused by JD, but she shot someone. She had actually shot someone. And she couldn’t bring herself to regret doing so.
