Summary
Remus can hear Sirius shuffling around in the dark for several moments before he hears the familiar drag of the IV pole across linoleum tiles and Sirius quickly scrambles onto the bed.
“Hi,” Remus whispers again.
“Hi,” Sirius whispers. In a moment, Sirius is leaning close to Remus.
“What’re these from?” Sirius whispers, he runs his fingers gently across the scars running across Remus’s face. The silver scars glow in the dim lighting. The skin on Sirius’s fingers is smooth and soft, catching on the rough knots of scar tissue bunching across Remus’s face.
“Turns out I’m allergic to oxygen cannulas sometimes,” Remus says. His voice catches in his throat with Sirius so close to him. He can even feel Sirius’s soft breath on his face.
“Sometimes?”
“Only sometimes. My body works in mysterious ways.”
“Is that why you’re here?”
“Something like that.”Or the story of a chronically ill Remus meeting Sirius while in the hospital for what seems like a regular visit. Sirius isn’t quite as used to the hospital, this visit being his first. How is either boy supposed to cope with massive life changes when they’re each across from the most beautiful person they’ve ever seen?

Summary
“Are you wearing hospital socks?” Sirius asks after a moment, looking at Remus’s feet. Remus looks down at them as well and pauses.
“Yes,” he says slowly. “Listen, they’re comfortable and I have a bad habit of stealing them. Mostly by accident.”

Remus slowly opens to the first page where his messy handwriting covers the page with dark blue ink. "Remus’s Death Journal." He traces his fingers across the familiar page. He started the journal years ago, finding some solace in putting his morbid thoughts no one else wanted to hear onto paper.
He’s not entirely sure what woke him up tonight or why he felt so drawn to the notebook in the quiet moonlight hours. Through the soft light, he can see Sirius asleep soundly in his bed, tucked softly into the dark forest green blankets. His chest rises and falls steadily and deeply. Remus can just barely hear his soft breaths over the chugging of his IV pump.Or the story in which Remus contemplates his lifespan in the dead of night and Sirius is there to comfort him.

Summary
Sirius's eyes well with tears and he blinks rapidly, flinching every time his closed eyes cast him into darkness. He grabs for his phone sitting near him and winces at the bright light.
Remus: it feels so good to be back in my own bed
Without thinking, he clicks the call icon.
“Sirius?” Remus’s voice sounds through the phone, confusion heavy. Sirius gasps in response, unable to verbalise any words. “Hey, are you okay?”
“No,” Sirius sobs.Sirius struggles to hold onto his sanity now that’s he’s safe and at home with the Potter’s after so much happened to him.
