Chapter Text
"Oh, Techno, you're up." Wilbur smiles from where he sits at Techno's desk.
"Wil..." Techno murmurs. Everything feels slotted nicely into place, in a way it hasn't in... months. "Mornin'."
"Morning," Wilbur smiles fondly. "Are you ready for today?"
Techno blinks. "Should be," he replies, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "What time is it planned for?"
Wilbur looks out the window. "A few hours from now, the high point of the sun."
Techno glances to the window himself, humming lowly. He stands and stretches, setting the vine blanket back into place neatly. "How're you feelin' about it?"
"I'm excited, obviously," Wilbur replies. "My twin is going to become the Crimson King."
Techno smiles. "And you'll be right by my side. As it should be."
"Awww, Techieeeee," Wilbur drawls before sobering up. "Well, I'm here to help you get dressed for the ceremony."
"Already?" Techno asks. He smiles a bit at the thought of the outfit he was shown. "What do you think of the uniform? They did a great job, just from lookin' at it."
"It is very well made, I think it'll suit you nicely. You'll look regal and intimidating."
"I need special clothes to do that? I need to step up my game," Techno jokes. He tilts his head to Wilbur with a grin, an invitation to begin when ready.
Wilbur laughs as he helps Techno undress from his night clothes and begins to put the silk shirt on him.
"You always look intimidating, except for when you're around us," Wilbur says while buttoning up the shirt. "Then you look sweet and protective."
Techno chuckles. "Hey, I thought you were supposed to bully Tommy, not me," he teases, raising a hand to push a stray bit of hair out of his face before pausing and considering it. "Do you think I should do anything with this?"
"The hair?" Wilbur asks, moving to pick up the jacket.
"Yeah."
"Phil could braid some of it back, I suppose. It could accentuate the crown nicely."
"Yeah, we could do a bit of a half-back..." Techno trails off, considering. "Could work either way. Which do you think?"
"I think some of it back with most of it laying down. It looks good on you, Tech." Wilbur compliments as he finishes putting on Techno's coat.
"Alright. I'll ask Phil when we head downstairs, since you suck at doin' fancy hair things," Techno replies with a grin, moving his arms a bit and testing the fit of the jacket. It's just right.
"Hey! I'll have you know I can do a very good ponytail." Wilbur retorts as he begins to set Techno's massive cape across his shoulders, doing up all the many chains to keep it in place.
Techno laughs. "You aren't trusted with my hair ever since Phil almost had to burn it off after you decided to fix it up while I was takin' a nap a couple years back." The weight of the cape on his shoulders is familiar, even if it's thicker than the one he had switched back to the past... nine months, according to Dream. It's nice, like a hug.
"Shush you!" Wilbur jokes before moving to help put on the many golden jewelry pieces.
Techno grins and musses Wilbur's hair. This was how it was meant to be. Easy, domestic.
Wilbur balks offendedly as his hair is messed up, but there's no bite to it. He finally finishes clipping the last of the gold chains to Techno and takes a step back to look him over.
Techno tilts his head after a moment of allowing Wilbur to consider it, gold earrings chiming as he moves his head. "Well? How does it look?" He asks, a surprisingly soft honesty in his question.
"Regal," Wilbur breathes out.
"Yeah?" He asks. "Well, that is the vibe I think we're goin' for..."
Wilbur seems nearly stunned silent. "Ye-Yeah... Sorry, it just looks right on you, man. Suits you."
Techno blinks, letting a small smile at the positive response. "I'm glad. You've always been the one who knows about this stuff, I'm glad you approve." He glances around. "Do we even have a mirror in this house?"
"Yeah, I've got one in my room." Wilbur replies, leading Techno to the full-body mirror Wilbur has across from his bed.
Techno follows, getting used to the tall boots after a couple steps. His breath is taken away once he takes a look in the mirror—Wilbur was right, it really is just... perfect.
He brings a hand up and lets out a little disbelieving laugh. "I mean—wow, is that really me?" He jokes. A glimmer in the mirror catches his eye and he moves the hand, raising his chin for a better view.
There, right around his neck, are two thin shimmering strings—one green, one red. They're practically flush with his skin and he traces them with a touch. He can't feel them, of course, but—
"Huh."
"You alright, Techno?"
"Yeah," Techno assures, slightly breathless from the revelation. "I just, I didn't know I have the—heh," he chuckles a bit, a satisfied smile growing as it sets in. Of course he has them, he's the King. Dream's closest vassal. Of course he has them.
Wilbur doesn't seem to understand what Techno's talking about, but he shrugs. "Whatever it is, you look good."
"I do. This is... perfect," Techno agrees, giving Wilbur and Phil little mental pats of happiness. He's pleased. They've done such a good job.
Wilbur preens at the praise, pushing into an invisible hand on his head. "Thanks, Tech."
Well, Wilbur is right here, there's no need to be stingy. Techno ruffles his hair affectionately before pulling Wilbur into a warm hug and holding it for a few seconds. Wilbur melts into the hold, happily nuzzling into his twin. Techno lets out a contented sigh. Everything is perfect, today. They can't just stay like this forever—they have an appointment to make.
"Hey, I'm finally taller than you," Techno jokes, pulling back enough to grin down at him.
"I can't believe you. This is rude." Wilbur teases. "Taller than me? Well... at least it's not Tommy."
"I don't think anyone would survive that," Techno agrees, letting go finally and heading to the stairs, mentally tugging Wilbur along gently. "Mornin' Phil," he greets, knowing their father would be up and busy already.
"Mornin' Son, you look really good. Sit, I got breakfast ready. Your favourite." Phil greets happily, motioning to the table where a veritable feast was laid out.
Techno smiles and gladly takes his seat. "Wil had a good idea—I was wonderin' if you could do my hair half up in a braid, looping around?" He asks, putting a couple things on his plate—not that he wasn't going to have some of all of it, really.
"Of course, whatever you want Techno. It's your big day after all." Phil laughs. "I can put some up in a braid, you thinking something to go under the crown?"
Techno nods. "I think it'd be nice to frame it, y'know?"
"I think you're right." Phil agrees easily. "Now eat, you need to be well nourished."
Techno chuckles but obliges, digging into Phil's careful preparations. Ranboo and Tommy and Tubbo all float into the room to join them eventually, all seeming excited for the coronation.
"So, ready to be King Bitch Pig instead of just Normal Bitch Pig?" Tommy laughs teasingly.
"Be nice to your brother," Phil quips automatically.
"I'm only teasing," Tommy whines in response.
"Pretty sure teasin' a King is valid grounds for treason, right Wil?" Techno asks, matching the bait easily.
"Technically speaking," Wilbur replies with faux-cruelty.
"Well fine, maybe I'll be nice for once. Hmph!" Tommy whines.
"That's what I thought," Techno replies triumphantly, taking another bite. He glances around the room thoughtfully. "I think today's probably the last day we're gonna stay here... it's served well."
"We can always come back, I'm sure," Phil points out. "Vacation home, maybe."
"Pretty sure only we would think of this as an ideal vacation destination," Ranboo chuckles.
"We can go anywhere we want as far as I know. So long as we have a guard. I think this will be our place we won't need guards with us." Wilbur recounts.
"We're gonna get guarded? How am I supposed to build cobble towers!" Tommy complains.
"Pretty sure that's the point, actually," Ranboo points out helpfully.
"Yeah," Techno agrees. "We want this to be a nice place to live. That means a strict no terrible towers policy."
Tommy whines, but, dutifully, does not complain further. He certainly pouts, though, shoving food into his cheeks.
"Having fun?"
The family turns to see Dream standing at the doorway.
"Hey, Dream," Techno greets, straightening a bit as he turns to look at him, dipping his head briefly in something between respect and amiability.
Phil, behind Techno, smiles at Dream with a satisfied look, feathers rustling as his wings adjust. They won.
Dream returns Phil's pleased look easily.
"Are you ready for the crown?" Dream jokes. "Who am I kidding, of course you're ready. I trained you myself. I should be asking if you're ready for all the socialization."
Techno groans and covers his face with a hand. "Is it too late to take it back?" He asks jokingly. "Sure, unlimited power, but—socializin'."
Dream chuckles. "Yes, it's too late to take it back. Are you almost ready to go?"
"Almost," Techno promises, turning back to his father who's already up and moving over to him, brush in hand.
"Five minutes, max," Phil explains, tilting Techno's head back gently and running the brush through his hair before taking a chunk and beginning to twist it with the ease of many, many years of practice. "We want everything to be perfect, after all. No half-measures."
"I don't think today can go wrong, Phil," Techno says, eyes sliding shut as he feels his father's hands work through his hair kindly.
"No worries there, I won't let anything get messed up." Dream says, walking forward and gently replacing Phil's hands with his own, taking over the braid.
Phil lets him take control easily, instead moving to straighten Techno's jacket and just take his son's new look in. "You look incredible, Techno. It'll be wonderful."
Dream finishes up the braid, and wordlessly opens his hand for a hair tie, which Phil passes instantly.
"There, all done." Dream hums, looking his Chosen over. "Everyone is ready, now, yes?"
Everyone gives varying sounds of affirmation, Wilbur having a matching fond smile to Phil on Techno's other side.
Techno opens his eyes—beautiful, crimson eyes—and looks up at Dream, a gently satisfied smile showing on his face. "It's time then?" He asks, mostly rhetorically.
"Almost, one last thing. Ranboo, come over here." Dream orders.
Ranboo perks up and stands from his chair, coming to stand in front of Dream—he's almost entirely lost his earlier fear of the masked man, by this point. "Yes?" He asks politely.
"You're going to go to sleep for a while. We're going to have Enderwalk join us for the Coronation."
"Oh..." he's a bit disappointed, but he glances at Techno and resolves himself. He turns to Tubbo and hands over his journal. "Take notes for me, would you?" He takes a breath and turns back to Dream and gives a nod. "If you need!"
Dream chuckles. "The notes won't be necessary. You'll remember what happens."
"O-oh! Okay," Ranboo responds.
Dream turns to Techno. "Will you do the honors?"
Techno nods diligently and turns to Ranboo. "Hey, Ranboo," he starts. "Be good, would you?"
Ranboo's eyes fall shut and he sways dangerously for a second before the Enderwalk takes hold and bright green eyes open. He glances around as always, tilting his head to Dream respectfully with a ""Sir,"" before looking at Techno appraisingly. ""...so you finally did it, huh.""
Dream gives Techno a proud look. "Took a while, didn't it."
""...yeah,"" Enderwalk agrees. He rubs at his neck lightly before turning away. ""Nice. It was kinda fun to watch him try.""
Techno looks between Dream and Enderwalk curiously, not quite understanding what they're talking about. Ah well, that's fine. "Should we head to the mainland, then?"
Dream gives a smirk, and with a wave of his hand they appear just inside the main gate of the castle.
"No Chosen of mine will have to boat all that way."
Techno blinks at the change in scenery before laughing lightly. "That works, I guess."
Tommy falls to the ground with a squawk, he'd still been sitting when Dream made the switch. Wilbur nudges him with a foot, laughing at his misfortune. Dream gives a fond chuckle as well, looking over them all.
"Well, you all know your places. Chosen, Enderwalk, with me." Dream orders, and Phil, Wilbur, Tommy, and Tubbo flit off for final preparations and to get ready themselves.
Techno nods and falls into step just behind and to the side of Dream, glancing about the halls curiously. Enderwalk follows behind him just a bit to Dream's other side.
The halls are extravagant, just like the rest of it. Dream brings Techno to a crossway in the hall. On one side is a large, ornate door. The other side a door much smaller and understated. They enter the smaller door, and inside is a cozy rest room with some plush chairs and tables.
"You'll both wait in here until I call you. Technoblade will come first, and I will crown him. Then, he will call you, Enderwalk, and you will be crowned by him." Dream explains.
They both nod.
"How you feelin' about this, Enderwalk? Nervous at all?" Techno asks.
""Of what? Dozens—hundreds of Lookers?"" Enderwalk asks, tone just a bit soft for a second before snapping into place, pressing a hand to his chest boastfully. ""Nah, why would I be? They don't have nothing on me.""
Dream hums, and waves his hand with a snap, and Enderwalk feels a burst of confidence flow through him.
"No last minute jitters on my watch," He smirks. "Keep that feeling in your chest. Pride, that today you're going to be crowned mine."
Enderwalk smirks and gives Dream a joking salute. ""Aye aye, Sir.""
Techno lets a hand drift up to touch his neck at Dream's assertion, where he knows the strings surely are. He smiles. "Of course," he replies easily, letting his hand drop. "What else would we be?"
Enderwalk glances at him for a moment, but lets it go quickly.
"Your outfit is in the attached closet, Enderwalk. You'll both know when to come." Dream says before leaving the room with a flourish.
Techno gives a content little sigh as Dream exits the room, finally looking it over for the first time. He turns to look at Enderwalk beside him. Seems like the kid will be around more often, and Dream absolutely adores him, so might as well.
"You ready?" He asks.
Enderwalk shrugs, seeming nonplussed by the whole ordeal. ""Might as well. We'd get yeeted if we were late, too,"" he replies, opening the closet.
Set on the armor stand is the outfit, just as Techno's had been. A white silk shirt as the base, leaf-green pinstripe vest, and a red cravat set around the neck. Set around the shoulders is a warm coat in deep red, with black lapels and gold detailing and twin coattails reaching to about the knee. The pants are black, but the boots are white with a simpler but similar gold pattern as Techno's, dark black clasps on the outsides.
Enderwalk takes a step back, eyes wide and astonished, hand going to cover his mouth.
Techno looks over with a raised brow. "You good?"
""I—"" Enderwalk warbles, unable to pull his eyes from the outfit. ""This—""
Techno looks at the outfit, finally, and huffs out a laugh. "Well you saw my get-up, what did you expect from Dream?"
""I don't—not this!"" He snaps, forcing himself to calm down after. Don't snap at the King, bad idea. ""This is—it's too much,"" he whispers.
"No," Techno shakes his head firmly. "It's exactly enough."
Enderwalk stares for another couple moments, finally forcing himself to look away and start pulling off his tie and suit jacket. Gotta put it on even if—wow.
Techno politely turns away, sitting on one of the large plush couches and reading a random book while Enderwalk gets himself ready. Idly, he wonders who Enderwalk's personal servant will be. Certainly he'll have one as a prince, no?
""It's so heavy,"" Enderwalk mutters, shrugging the outermost jacket on and adjusting it to lay nicely. He looks nice, more put together than even his usual suit did for him. A card falls out of the coat and he leans down to pick it up curiously. His eyes widen and he turns away to hide a blush at how special and specific all of this outfit feels, instead finding an ornate little gold clip set with emeralds.
Techno looks him up and down. "You look like a prince. You get used to the weight." He chuckles.
""Do I really?"" He wonders. He studies the card—a set of instructions for how to put his hair back into a little bun with one side bang left undone. Problem... he's terrible at doing hair. Especially on himself. He looks at the hair clip pensively.
Techno looks at him with a teasing look. "Having trouble there?"
""Nah,"" Enderwalk returns automatically. He runs a hand through his hair... no, this is just a bad idea. ""...maybe.""
Techno laughs before putting his hand out. "What are we going for here? I might not be as good as Phil but I can make it work."
Enderwalk joins Techno on the couch and hands over the instruction card dutifully, refusing to look at Techno's face. This is ridiculous, how can he not even just do a little bun—
Enderwalk's racing thoughts are calmed by gentle, oh so gentle, hands in his hair. "A bun, eh? I think I can manage that much." Techno hums, carefully pulling the strands back. "And a little bit in the front." He adds, delicately separating a small section to remain hanging loose.
Enderwalk lets out a long breath, letting the embers of Dream's confidence shot from earlier stir back up. ""Are you nervous?"" He asks, turning Techno's earlier question back on him.
"Nah, not really." Techno shrugs. "Can't be, Dream's counting on me to look good. Wouldn't do well for the King to be too awkward to be nervous at his own coronation."
Enderwalk laughs. ""I guess. Good thing memory boy isn't in my place, then."" He pauses and considers. ""Hopefully I don't have to talk or anything. That'd be funky.""
Techno chuckles as he puts the ornate pin into the bun. "I'm sure Dream will have it all worked out. Either you'll be allowed to speak in Common, or you won't need to speak at all."
""Yeah. 'course Dream will have it figured out,"" Enderwalk agrees. He glances back at Techno. ""You got all... Eggy,"" he notes, gesturing to his eyes.
"Hm?" Techno hums questioningly. "What do you mean?"
""Uh..."" he laughs and waves it off. ""Don't worry about it,"" he says, adopting a secretive 'I know something you don't' smile.
Techno gives him a playful glare, but shrugs it off.
Would he have, just a few days ago? Enderwalk doesn't want to think about that.
Techno's eyes go glassy for a second, before he straightens to his full height. "Felt the call. Just a few minutes, now."
""Right,"" Enderwalk acknowledges. ""Hope you trip and fall or something. You know, for the content.""
Techno laughs happily at that, and gives Enderwalk a brotherly pat on the back. "Don't be far behind, now. Keep a feeler out for your own call."
And with that, Techno turns, takes a deep breath, and stands at the door to the throne room.
Once he stepped through this door, everything and nothing would change. He would be in charge of a kingdom again. Responsible for people, making the important decisions.
But his family is going to be at his side, this time. And nothing can ever take them away, nothing can go wrong—Dream wouldn't allow it.
Dream has given him an opportunity, power, safety. And asked for so little in return.
As he said earlier, too late to back out now, Techno thinks as he adjusts his cloak and jacket one last time before pushing the doors open with a regal smile on his face.
The throne room is massive, to say the least.
Rows upon rows of people stand on either side of the literal red carpet at his feet, pillars of crimson stems sprawling up into the ceiling where the beautiful red vines lay. The edges of the halls are covered in guards, all wearing crisp enchanted netherite armour. Though the opening in their helmets, Techno can see that each guard has pure red eyes.
Good, he thinks. As it should be.
At the front of the room stand two thrones. One, massive, elegant, red, the other smaller, more understated but just as beautiful, and green.
Dream stands at the top of the stairs, in front of the thrones. He's wearing capes of red and green, silken clothes of black, his signature mask on his face, hair covered by his red hood.
Techno walks up to the stairs, and kneels obediently on the pillow provided for him.
When Dream speaks, it is how he did in the beginning, echoing through the room, sourcing from everywhere and nowhere all at once.
Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the peoples of this Crimson Empire with a firm, yet gentle hand of control?
Techno takes a deep breath. This is real, and final.
"I will."
Will you, Technoblade, swear to keep this Empire safe from unrest?
"I will."
And will you, Technoblade, the Chosen of the Crimson Egg, swear to keep this government in command so long as you may live, however many centuries that may be?
Techno blinks slightly at the wording, but does not falter.
"I will."
Then I coronate you, King Technoblade of the Crimson Empire.
Dream places the crown from the armour stand down onto Techno's hair, and instantly the vines grow, and tighten the crown to his hair. Techno closes his eyes as the crown is secured, waiting for Dream to step back again to rise to his feet, meeting where Dream's eyes should be for a second—his crimson eyes are almost glowing with the strength of his devotion—then turning and surveying his subjects.
And now, Dream states again. For your Crimson Prince!
The doors open once more and Enderwalk moves in confidently, quirking a brief smile out towards the crowd in an effort to seem likable before focusing solely on the God and King. His coattails flow slightly behind him as he moves and kneels before them obediently.
While he does not hear it out loud, Enderwalk hears the command clearly in his mind.
You may speak in Common, only to say "I will."
Dream turns to Techno, and while Techno's mouth is the one to move, he knows he is not the one to speak.
"Will you solemnly promise and swear to protect the peoples of this Crimson Empire with a firm, yet gentle hand of control?"
Enderwalk's throat dries at the order to speak, but there's no time to think it over.
"I will," he swears.
"Will you, Enderwalk Ranboo, swear to keep yourself prepared to command this Empire and her people?"
"I will."
"And will you, Enderwalk Ranboo, the Prince of the Crimson Egg, swear to keep this government in command so long as you may live, however many centuries that may be?"
"I will."
"Then rise, Prince Enderwalk Ranboo, of the Crimson Empire." Technoblade says, placing a circlet upon Enderwalk's head. Bejeweled in the center is a priceless emerald, flanked by two priceless rubies.
Red and Green, just as he is.
Enderwalk swallows and rises silently, looking solely to Techno and Dream, noting the weight of the circlet on his head.
Turn, both of you, Dream commands mentally, and the two obediently turn to look over their subjects.
"Long live the King! Long live the Prince!" Philza shouts, and the room erupts into a chant.
"Long live the King! Long live the Prince!"
The chant continues on for a few minutes, before the guards shift, eyes in the room go red, and silence reigns. Dream moves to stand in the center, with Techno and Enderwalk just to his sides.
My people, it has been a long nine months, but here we stand. United, commanded, together. As one force, this Crimson Empire will reign. ALL HAIL THE CRIMSON!
"All hail the Crimson!" Technoblade and Enderwalk repeat, reaching out across the swathes of citizens in the room and twining their words into all the leashes at their fingertips.
"All hail the Crimson!"
Citizens obediently repeat the cry, chanting until they go silent, chanting until they are ushered out the door by guards.
Dream turns to Enderwalk. "Come, walk with me." He orders.
Enderwalk nods obediently, giving Techno a little wave as he follows, leaving Techno alone in the throne room with only ten guards remaining.
He turns and walks to the throne—his throne, he knows—taking a seat and letting out a long breath. It's done, now... he'd not compelled so many people at one before, there's a vague ache in his mind from the overexertion. It's worth it though, for Dream, for the glory of the Crimson Empire—
He's snapped out of his drifting thoughts at the sound of a commotion outside the main throne room doors, catching a muffled shout before they're thrown open by someone he only vaguely recognizes.
The woman at the door appears to be some form of sheep hybrid, wearing the traditional clothes one would expect on a pirate, complete with the hat. If Techno recalls correctly, her name is Puffy. This was one of the two Bad had warned him about.
She holds a scimitar at a ready stance from where she stands at the doors.
"Techno!"
Techno narrows his eyes—it ought to be King Technoblade, he did not know her well enough for that to be acceptable. He tilts his head, looking down at her—she's not close enough to see if she has a thread yet. He keeps the guards in the room from immediately attacking, though they do not drop their ready positions.
"I—" She heaves out a breath, "I know you aren't doing this on your own, that you're being lied to! I know you hate government, you're standing in a castle built in the ruins of the very government you swore to destroy!"
Techno glares down at her—so this was her play. Bold, but stupid. "L'Manburg was faulty," he states plainly. "We are connected."
"You can't believe that!" Puffy cries, "Look at it all! Their eyes are red! Dream has been lying to everyone for so long!"
Techno leans forward—between the cloak making him seem larger, the pulsing crown, and his natural intimidation, it's a difficult combination to face. "Do you doubt us?" He asks, tilting his head as all the soldiers turn at the ready to Puffy at once. "I believe it because it is the truth."
"But Dream was lying! He said it had been nine months! L'Manberg only fell six months ago!"
Techno freezes. This is the one thing he doesn't know, the one thing he has no way of verifying—
"No."
"No?!" Puffy yells, confused. "It's true! Look outside, it's summer! L'Manberg fell in the winter! If it had been nine months we would be in fall!"
Techno glances out the window despite himself. That's... true, that's strange. He's spent so long farming he knows the seasons, and yet.
Dream would never lie. Dream will tell him what matters.
He rises to his feet, facing Puffy with a piercing, furious glare. "No," he growls. "You are lying."
Puffy sobs. "You're gone, aren't you! Is there anything of you left, Techno?"
"I rather think my family to be a better judge of who I am than someone I've spoken to twice. And they are here, with me. Where they shall stay and flourish until the end," Techno swears. "So, have you meant to come in here and slander their and my judge of character and truth?"
"You're calling him family now?! Dream is the reason so many people have been hurt!"
"Dream gave me my brothers," Techno tells her, angry. "Dream gave me the power to keep them happy and safe. Dream gave me purpose. Yet you have the audacity to come in here and spew lies and question my authority." He raises a hand and the guards converge on Puffy. "I will not stand for this."
Puffy shouts, trying to fight off the guards, but is quickly subdued.
"Where shall we take her, Your Majesty?" One monotoned guard asks.
"The dungeons. They need to be broken-in anyway, and I doubt her to pose any particular threat," Techno orders, dismissive. "Dream will handle her soon enough, I'm sure."
Puffy continues to shout, to attempt to flee, but the mass of guards drags her out of the room.
Techno is left with only five.
Techno watches her be pulled away impassively, letting out a sigh after they're gone. He finds Wilbur's familiar thread in his mind and queries it—where? family room—he turns and strides out with the intent to find this supposed room and the family waiting for him.
Techno's feet guide him, and he opens a slightly fancier than normal door to one of the most comfortable rooms he has ever seen. Couches, chairs, tables full of games, there's even a fish tank to the side providing the perfect amount of white noise.
Everything is red.
But the crowning achievement of the room is the massive, sprawling bed taking up nearly a quarter of the expansive room. And on that bed lays his family, all with gentle smiles on their faces.
Techno grins at the sight. Look at them, all safe and happy...
"Hey," he greets, striding over and carefully removing the crown and cloak, setting them gently on a conveniently-placed table on the way.
"Hey mate," Phil grins sleepily. "Finally coming to rest?"
"Yep, just had to have a bit of fun first," Techno jokes, pulling off his jacket and boots to be comfortable before flopping into a perfectly Technoblade-shaped hole in the cuddle pile.
Phil hums, and wraps a wing around his son. Just like it should be.
Techno is nearly asleep when the door creaks open, and a soft hand weaves into his hair.
"You've done so good, my Chosen. I can tell this is going to be perfect."
Technoblade falls asleep with a smile on his face.
