Chapter Text
It was a freezing night outside but inside the club, the heat was suffocating, air thick with packed bodies. You didn’t want to come even, but your friends practically dragged you by the collar to meet some new options because your dating life have been a mess lately, and tonight was supposed to be about exploring more.
Your friends made you talk to half of the men in the club and you danced with the other half, but god damn were they all boring, every conversation was a dead end, and every dance felt like a chore, desperate for a break from the the heat you stepped over near the entrance where the entrance opened to the outside, sitting down just to catch a bit of the freezing cold breeze from outside.
A sleek, black cadillac convertible pulled to the door of the place. You peeked a little curious about the cool looking car, a dark haired guy stepped out of the driver’s seat, wearing black shades even tho it was the middle of the night and a police badge hanged on his belt catching the dim light.
“Great the police is here” You muttered sarcastically to a friend sitting right beside you. Your friend did not hear what you said as she was busy making out with her new boyfriend. You rolled your eyes hard at her then pushed yourself up from the seat and walked back to the bar to grab another drink.
You stared in boredom at the glass you held by its slender stem, fingers barely touching the glass, pale gold liquid wobbling as you twirl the glass, watching the bubbles rising to the top. From the side of your eyes, you noticed the same cop walking up to the bar. As he opened his tab, you took a better look at him under the nightclub lights, he wore pitch black burnished leather boots that hugged his ankles tight beneath his slim bootcut black jeans, boots were build with a heel that gave his stride a deliberate, predatory lean, finished with a short black leather jacket with a plain tee under it, a belt underneath held his badge and gun, and of course the shades he still didn’t take off.
As he stood waiting for his drink you noticed from the corner of your eye, saw him reaching into the inner pocket of his jacket and pulled out a small packet of white substance, he tipped the powder onto the wooden bar table making a small line on the bar table, lowering his head he closed a nostril with his index and sniffed the line in one breath.
You looked at him with disgust and confusion, mostly disgust. “What kind of cop are you” You directed the question at him, he slowly lifted his head, wiping the back of his hand across his nose, his dark eyes locked onto yours behind his shades. "Whah, you interested hon?" He answered with an so obvious southern accent. “No,” You said, keeping the same disgusted look on your face “because what kind of cop would openly sniff the white stuff and party” He looked at you with a face that didn’t appreciate your words “Mah kaind.” He said, Grabbing his freshly poured drink, he turned his back on you to another table to look for his next distraction.
“What are you doing?” Your friend walked up to you, but you barely heard her. too busy checking that tight ass of the cop as he strode away. “Who’s that?” You asked without even turning your head to face her, she followed your gaze her eyes widening slightly when she realized who you were talking about “Oh that's officer Coyle,” She said as she leaned closer for you to hear her under the loud music. “He comes here often, but don’t bother, seriously he is a huge womanizer, a serial cheater and such a hard, impossible person to deal with, he thinks he owns the damn town!” “Is he an actual cop?” You looked at her and asked “Shocker i know” Your friend said her laugh cut short by a new burst of a faster kind of music. She grabbed your arm, pulling you from the bar chair “Come on, forget about him. Lets dance, I bet the others are already there” You let yourself be walked by her into the crowded floor
Swaying and turning with the rhythm of the music, you closed your eyes and let the heavy beat take over, once you opened them you found yourself lost from your friends in the huge crowd but you couldn’t care less, as you were actually starting to enjoy yourself tonight. The moment of enjoyment was destroyed when out of nowhere, a big hand slapped your behind, without hesitation you turned and slapped the face of whoever did it, and you were faced with these same annoying shades.
Before you could pull your hand, Coyles fingers were quicker to grab your wrist, his grip tight and rough it could bruise, keeping you close to him “ah could get in ya jailed fer that ya know, that is considered and offence ‘gainst an officer of the law” He said with a smug grin and brought his face closer to yours, that made you wish to slap him again and smack the shades off of his face. “Let go” You scowled, pulling your wrist out of his grip, surprisingly eh let go, raising his hands in a mock gesture of surrender with the same grin that didn’t leave his face. You walked away from him not wishing to glance at his face for one more second.
You returned to your friends, sliding back into the booth, for a while it was just the usual sound of music, dancing and glasses clanking together, and you tried to immerse in the conversations to forget what happened at the dance floor, and forget his stupid face. Suddenly the air shifted, starting with loud sound of shattering glass at the far end of the club, followed by a sudden surge of a crowd going to the direction of sounds. You stood up with your friends, leaving your full glasses to finish the conversation by themselves.
You squeezed your way into the crowd and looked through, to see the annoying cop again, sleeves rolled up showing his muscular, hairy forearms, Nose bleeding on his mouth and lit cigarette he had between his lips. He had a grip on the collar of a local guy whose nose was already split open his face and chin red. The guy tried to desperately swing back, the cop took the sloppy hit to his face “Mah turn” He drove a knee right into the guy’s ribs, and you could hear the breath leaving the man’s lungs, as he doubled over, gasping, the cop hauled him back up by his hair, forcing him to look up, his bloody knuckles delivered a heavy punch to the man’s jaw that when it came to contact it made a crack.
He stood over him, he snifted his nose releasing all the blood to the man’s clothes “If ya do that ‘gain ah might do more’n break yer jahw” He blurted to the knocked out man on the floor, he then raised a hand up fixing his messy hair. Hes bleeding from his head and nose, but honest, he looked mighty hot and you couldn’t help but stare. He suddenly looked at the crowd but it felt as if he was looking at you directly and only you, smirking “Mah gawd seems we got us some fans!” he said abruptly.
“Told you that he is no good” your friend said pulling you out from your stare, you didn’t realize you were still looking at him, your heart still racing, “Lets finish our drinks and head back home” Another friend joined, her body shivering slightly from the disgusting view, everyone in the group agreed with her.
you gulped your glass the moment you reached the table, minutes later all of you put on your coats and walked to the door as your friends got inside the car you paused on the curb and looked inside your purse “Wait a moment i forgot my powder!” You said turning your heel back to the entrance and walking with quick steps to the table to see the mirror still sitting there, you grabbed it and turned your head back to the exit as you placed the mirror inside the purse. Then a smell of hard liquor and smoke smacked your senses as your face pumped into cold leather. “Carful there sugah, don’t wantya endin up like him over there” Hearing the thick accent that seems to belong to just him in the club you knew who it was before looking up.
eyes locked onto those dark shades as he reached up and pulled a cigarette from his packet, He had the cigarette with his number on it “D’ ya want it?” He gave it over to you without waiting for an answer. You knew it was wrong but you palmed it.
