Work Text:
As the elevator slowly made its way up to the floor of his hotel room, all you could think about was seeing her that night... you imagined her sound asleep, wearing something pretty that can easily be taken off or slipped aside for a naughty wake up call.
You bit your lip, feeling lucky that the leather jacket you had on was long enough to hide anything noticeable from the only other person in the elevator: an older looking man intently doing a crossword puzzle on his phone. And thankfully as the doors opened, you were the only one who exited for that floor.
As if on autopilot, you took the familiar route to Room 709 and swiped the key-card you retrieved from your wallet. Entering the room, you was surprised to find the overhead light still on, but that quickly changed to the sight of her reading a vintage sci-fi book called Neuromancer that she had brought for her stay, sitting propped up on a couple of pillows, and... completely naked.
"Wow, sexy... what did I do to earn this kind of welcome? Please, let me know so I can do it more often." A giggle escaped from your lips as you take a couple steps closer, drinking in the way her curves looked so inviting against the crisp white linens, her fair skin glowing softly as she turned a page, then looked up at him, a small smile on her mouth, but cool clarity in her eyes.
"Hey, Mingi." She set her book down and turned to the left, setting her feet on the floor. She started to stand to meet you, but you stopped her quickly with a passionate kiss, pulling her close against your frame... tongues familiar enough with each other made those damn pants feel like agony with each passing moment. But once you stopped to catch your breath, the placid expression on her face was unchanged, just a faint touch of pink painted her heart shaped face beautiful.
"What's wrong?" you ask her, curious now as to what's on her mind more than her body.
"Nothing important... I can tell you had fun tonight." Beth smirked, clearly talking about the taste of dark liquor that filled her mouth from their kiss.
"I did, but that isn't important right now; you are, Beth..." he spoke causing her to laugh this time, but not entirely for humors' sake.
"For this weekend , yes... when I bumped into you on one of your 'sleepless night walks' while I was on a similar path, since I've never been able to sleep in a bed that isn't mine. And you told me how badly you were aching for a warm body that could also hold a conversation for more then ten minutes." She shook her head slightly, stopping any words of protest from you before continuing.
"However, you can't deny that you were so convincing in your request that I couldn't say no to you... well, between that and how we 'shook hands' as soon as you got me into your room pretty much told me I would have no regrets." Beth's smile and flush grew more earnestly as you sat next to her, pulling her close again in a side embrace.
"I can't have all the credit... you had some surprises of your own too, baby." You whispered to her, kissing her on the cheek, making her shiver against you.
"Well, the right kind of man can bring that out of a woman if he plays his cards right, and I could tell that you're a shark among other fish I've dated. Hell, even our talk about your love of history was stimulating for my mind the morning after... despite me teasing you about how you looked like you could've been an extra for The Matrix if you had been old enough when- stop talking, Beth, you're being stupid!" Beth broke free from your grasp, crossing the floor to the wall next to the door. "Why ruin it now ?" She stopped inches from the blank white slate in front of her before folding her arms against the interior wall before letting her forehead rest underneath the crook of her arms, a low thud echoed briefly through the silent room.
Unsure of whether to comfort her or apologize, you try to get your bourbon soaked brain to think before eventually saying, "Talk to me, Beth... you should be able to tell me anything."
"... even though you'll be leaving tomorrow, and I'll only be a blip on your timeline." Beth spoke low, yet loud enough for him to hear from the bed.
"Please... if I've hurt you in any way, I-"
"You didn't hurt me, Mingi: I'm always the one who ends up hurting myself." Beth turns around to face you. "I thought I could handle a one-night stand, and I should've never looked up who you are when you left this room. I should just get dressed and leave before I dig myself even deeper." She went to reach for her weekend bag sitting near the closet, only for you to stop her halfway.
"I did tell you who I was, Beth... I didn't lie to you about why I was here."
"I know that, Mingi. But words are different compared to seeing videos of crowds of people who know your name, your music, your story: it had me thinking..." she stopped herself, wiping tears that started to well up in her light brown eyes.
"Thinking what, Beth...?" Your voice softened as you cupped her face in your right hand, letting your eyes meet hers.
"If the world outside of here was your authentic life, and if I was part of a simulation, and you knew I was... would you still ask me to come to your room?"
At first you were surprised by this question, but as the question plants itself into your mind and heart, you give Beth an honest answer.
"In full disclosure, Beth... I should be the one asking you that question. There's been several times in my career as an idol where I've wondered 'Is this really happening right now?' or ' Are you sure you should be talking to me about this?' The guys I work with are brothers to me, and they know this life and career has brought plenty of good to me, but also some bad: I won't say everything that happened, but at one point, I spent a year away from my brothers, because my brain kept telling me that I didn't deserve any of this and, well... I almost got close to believing it."
Beth stared at you for a moment before fresh tears began to fall. You crossed the divide between the two of you, as you drew her into a tight embrace: the sexual tension of earlier melting away for now, blossoming something more meaningful then you could realize.
"That was quite a few years ago, but those thoughts never truly go away. So to me, you are more tied to reality then I am, Beth... wherever you find yourself after I leave. However, I didn't plan on making myself a stranger to you, baby: and I know that somehow, someway our paths will cross again in this life. Because you were meant to find me in that hallway, just as much as I wanted to find someone like you to spend these two days with." You pressed a kiss against her bare shoulder, before breathing in the intoxicating aroma of the lime and bergamot essential oil you remembered her dabbing on her pulse points before she got dressed that morning. "Beth... did you take a shower before I left?"
"No," she sniffled, resting a trembling palm against the your jacket to loosen your grip on her which you do but slightly, wanting to keep Beth close enough to touch. "I didn't take a shower, I wanted to wait for you. But seriously... despite all the achievements you've already earned, you would still want to be with me, even if you knew that-" she chuckled briefly, her laugh a bit lighter then it was before, "you were spending two nights fucking a mass of ones and zeros?"
Your right hand slowly moved from where it was resting on her hip, all the way up to her face, letting your fingers comb through her copper colored hair as you heard a soft moan come from Beth's parted lips.
"There's no way you could be a simulation, baby; the way you smell... how you taste, and how good it feels being inside of you: that alone shows me you're one hundred percent real." Your eyes travel down from her eyes to her lips, where she answers you with a kiss as passionate as yours had been earlier, her hands now pushing the jacket off of your shoulders as she nudges you towards the bathroom...
Despite the water being warm, the heat between you and Beth felt like an inferno as you positioned her left leg to wrap around you as you found your way inside.
"Fuck-" you gasped at the warmth of her sheath, "I don't think I'm gonna last."
"That's alright, Mingi," Beth assured him stroking his damp face. "Please... I want you so bad."
A smile creeps across your face before you give her another kiss, the two of your eagerly chasing this moment of ecstasy together...
In the post-coital haze, you laid sprawled out on the bed, half asleep but picking up bits of pillow talk with the beautiful woman laying her head against your chest: her damp hair curling around your fingers as she tells you a joke about a teenaged boy who goes somewhere called blueberry hill twice, only for him to return to his parents missing an article of clothing both times.
"So, on the third day, his Mom and Dad are sitting on the front porch, waiting for their son to come back from this 'Blueberry Hill'... only to see him yet again walking down the sidewalk. But this this time, he's as naked as a jay-bird, holding the hand of a pretty blonde sixteen year old girl. His father was too stunned to speak, so his mother calls out to him. "Frankie?" She hollers out "Where are your clothes, and who in the hell is that girl with you? And-" she coughed to stifle a laugh before the punchline "the blonde girl called out to the mother, "Hello, Ma'am, my name's Blueberry Hill."
Sharing a laugh with Beth in that hotel room felt almost as good as the sex they had earlier, away from the scrutiny of public eyes and all of those cameras: having a peaceful moment with someone who could make him laugh held as much value as gold.
"It's been a while since I've told that joke," Beth giggled mercilessly, her eyes twinkling in the darkness of the room, "but I'm guessing I did it justice with your reaction." After a few moments, her laughter eased to a stop, leaving a silence more comforting than what happened earlier, but gave you some pause.
"W-what is it, Beth?" You eventually ask, curious at this stillness.
"I was just taking a moment to look at you." Beth's voice, low and teasing, murmured softly. "You are very beautiful, do you know that?"
"I-I am ?!" You stammered, now hoping the darkness will keep the blush you feel heating your face out of Beth's watchful gaze.
"You are beautiful. Your eyes, your lips, your smile... and not just your body and its many qualities. You are that. Damn. Beautiful, Song Mingi." You feel her lips press against your chest as your heartbeat quickens from the flirtatious words being sent your way. "And I'll gladly pray to whatever higher power there is to make what you said about me finding you to be true, because I would do anything I could to hear that adorable laugh again." She pauses, lifting her head slightly. "That alone just shows how much of an impression you've made on me... honest."
"I hope for the both of us that will come true, baby: because I would do anything to have you in my arms again: and I hope it shows how much of an impression you've made on me... honest." You told Beth sincerely, before her kisses took away the need for any further conversation.
Outside of this hotel, the pulse of Los Angeles could be heard from the windows, but you felt more alive in this moment with Beth then in any dream or moment in time could grant you.
