Chapter Text
Twas a gloomy yet enveloping morning in the town of Oxford — students marched around in their boots, a loud sign of the first day of term. Students and alike gripped their books and courage when walking in — after all, it was one of the most prestigious schools in the country.
Audrey was no different, she put her Steve Madden boots on, the ones that made her look ready to kick injustice in the ass, boots that were made for walking. Her short curled hair sat just above her velvet wine jacket, the type of wine that was as red as the sin that coated her lips, indulged with a cheeky lip bite — a habit when she loses herself in the reflection of her body length mirror. A final smooth over her lace tights, she sighs with content and sets out.
Audrey was an ambitious girl, her father the ever natural leader had definitely caused her stubborn nature as an adult. Years of lies and secrecy with him led to scandals interlaced with apologetic gifts — it was pathetic to her, really. Nights of feeling lonely, she sought to end her fathers secret games for once and for all, and after one revealing night, she knocked his whole scheme down — but through those ashes, her desire to investigate and prosecute was born.
You may wonder how her evil father even let her move so far away, well, Audrey Horne gets what she wants, even if it involves blackmail. So, there she was, stepping into the University of Oxford after multiple arguments with her father about attending — he always said 'they could never accept a dumb girl like you' or 'you dont deserve to be there', yet here she was, walking on the carved path that she built through years of perseverance and challenge.
Finally, she reached her first class after multiple thorough checks to make sure she wasnt tardy on her first day.
"Criminal Justice first thing in the morning? This is going to be interesting." she affirmed under her breath, her eyes scanned the details about said class… thats when her eyes locked onto the name 'Professor Cooper'. She was struck with presque vu… it felt so familiar yet so foreign, it was alluring her greatly.
Pushing the conflict aside, she walks inside, a small crowd of students were already inside, chatting and dispersing the first day nervousness all across the room. Audrey beamed a smile at the room — almost as if a peaceful offering, a plea to treat her right — which wasnt particularly directed at the people there, but at the institution, at her future and her aspirations. With a poised stride, she settles in the quiet corner of the large lecture hall. Without any moment for her thoughts, a large BAM! sounds through the now silent hall. Professor Cooper stands tall, as if the centuries old building didn't just cower under fear for his authority just like every fresh student there, people hurried to quiet down and find a seat.
His silence as he prepared the lecture warranted some stares from the other girls in her class — who looked at Professor Cooper with swoony heart eyes, while she could only look at him with hatred and a lack of respect.
"Gosh, am i really going to deal with this dick for the next hour?" she sighed mentally. "He looks like the most insufferable prick to have walked these halls." she continued with anger. Her most awaited subject was now being dragged down to hell as this damn professor kept his lips shut — but his eyes? On her the nanosecond a scoff left her throat.
Oh Shit.
