Chapter 1: Weather you like it or not

Chapter Text

This was it. Vincent's way into the network. His big break leaving his shitty job behind and be a star on television that he knew he could be. Holding the brown envelope tightly in his hands he pushed his way into the building heading towards the main office, ignoring the protests of the bimbo on reception. It was their own fault it came to this. He’d tried to apply the proper way; they hadn't even given him the dignity of an interview. Just a snotty call from a ‘desk working nobody’ advising they'd filled the job internally instead. Bunch of bastards only hiring their friends, well jokes on them now because what he had in this envelope was going to guarantee him his rightful spot in front of the cameras.

“Bob Williams, what a pleasure to finally meet you,” Vincent put on his smartest smile as he stepped into the office with confidence.

“And you are?” Bob looked up from his desk, lit cigar in hand, grey brows scrunched in irritation.

“Your newest hire and the best decision you'll ever make,” Vincent replied, taking a step closer.

“We're not looking for anyone new right now so I suggest you turn around boy, before I call security,” Bob rose from his seat a stern warning in his tone as he snubbed out his cigar in an ashtray, judging eyes not leaving Vincent's face.

“Oh I thought you'd say that Bob, but I promise you I can be very convincing ” Vincent smirked, placing the envelope down on the desk, sliding it forwards as the door swung open.

“Mr Willams I’m so sorry, he just pushed his way through. Should I get security?”

Vox rolled his eyes; so the receptionist decided to actually do her job then.

“Don't worry your pretty head about it sweetheart once Bob sees what i have I’m sure you'll be seeing a lot of me round here,” Vincent winked before turning to Bob once more. The older man took the envelope carefully peeking inside, his displeased scowl dropped from his face immediately, eyes widening before darting to the receptionist at the door.

“Mary this is a private meeting, please go back to your desk and hold all my calls for the next hour,” Bob's voice was firm but Vincent gleamed at the slight wobble hidden underneath the tone.

“Oh… ok Mr Williams," Mary quickly scurried from the room, her clicking heels still audible even as the door shut.  There was a slight pause between the two men as both sat either side of the desk. Bob's hands trembled, gripping tight to the envelope full of the end of his career, the end of his family, the end of his life if they ever got out. Vincent felt a rush through his veins as he watched the other tremble with rage and fear. The man was a thread coming undone before him and it was all at his hands. It made him feel big, powerfall almost like a G..

“Whatcha want?”

“Now Bob, all I want is an opportunity. Those photos will remain unseen by the staff… by the public… by your wife. It'll be a little secret between colleagues, you're good at keeping those right?”

“There isn't…”

“Then make one!” Vincent growled standing up. He snatched the envelope and emptied out the contents.

“I hear you're going to need a new weatherman soon, yours is too busy being a no-good whore” Vincent sneered, snickering as he watched Bob's eyes widened with horror as the polaroids began littering the desk. Each one depicted him and the studio's youngest hire. Some of them were at an underground gay bar not far from there, drinking, dancing, and touching each other. Others showed the poor boy on his knees sucking down Bob's cock in a dirty alleyway. The worst being a shot taken through the car window clearly showing them clung to each other kissing, panting…. fucking.

“I expect to start Monday, ‘weather’ you like it or not.”
