Chapter Text
The usual hum of electricity in electrical was annoying at best, dangerous at worst. They were always made to sit outside the room when Indigo did tasks. Violet was significantly taller than their twin, Purple. Many expected Violet to grow to the same size as Indigo when they were fully grown.
“Rock, paper, scissors, SHOOT!” The twins said in unison, Violet played rock while Purple played scissors.
“Haha! I won!” Violet said, laughing while Purple pouted. “You said two outa three, guess who got two outa three? Me!”
Purple pouted as their parent walked out of electrical. Purple never complained about losing anything verbally, but their body language told it all to Violet that they didn’t like that they lost that game of rock, paper, scissors. Which only made Violet laugh as they were brought away from the dangerous room with wires they could trip on.
“Let’s head to navigation, I need to make sure the captain put this thing into autopilot correctly,” maddy (Indigo) said, going in the direction of storage since it was the quickest route. “Or I could go to admin? No, making sure that the ship is going the right way is the bigger priority.”
The twins followed the rather tall crewmate through the halls, it was strange not seeing anyone else though. Maybe they were somewhere else on the ship, it didn’t really matter to Violet outside of socializing with others outside their family.
Paper fell out maddy’s backpack and slipped into the vents. Violet stayed back in hopes of maddy noticing, but it didn’t seem like they did. Looking at the vents, Violet was tempted to go up to it and try to fish out the paper.
Lifting up the vent was a little challenging for the kid, but it made getting the paper easier. Looking around inside of them in hopes of seeing the engineer, but they saw no one. Which was probably still good, but they didn’t want to get stuck in the vents and all. But they needed those papers so maddy could do the correct tasks and keep track of them.
Violet had always been a curious kid, simple as that. Purple would still be there to try and distract them long enough for them to get it back if they knew their twin well enough. It was a quick trip in and out of the vents just as they expected. But some strange grey disc was on the ground now.
Looking around for its owner, Violet found no one, so they picked it up to help find its owner. Only to scream out in pain as black tentacles stabbed their hand. There was smoke and it made them cough. When it cleared, Violet found that they had a mouth with some sharp canines like a doggy. They closed it and it disappeared back into their skin, maybe it was normal.
Pocketing the device, Violet ran to go looking for their parent. The halls looked the same as always, it was easy to find where their parent would be heading to based on the checked off tasks. And just as expected, they were doing the next task on the list. They smiled when they saw Violet standing there,
When they arrived there, they handed the much larger crewmate the papers. Not really noticing the look on their face when they smiled. But the way their hand was shaking when they brought it to give them a pat on the head like they normally did when they did that, did Violet pause to look closer at the expression.
Bringing a hand to their face, Violet found they had let the mouth show again, but why was their parent so scared at the sight?
“What’s wrong? Am I not supposed to have a mouth?” Violet asked, thinking back to how they had gotten it. “I just touched some disc and it stabbed me… Why do I have a mouth..?”
Looking behind their parent, they saw Sky trying to kill maddy with a knife. Without even thinking, Violet pulled out a gun, they didn’t even know when they got one.
Without even thinking, they pulled the trigger on the imposter, scaring both Purple and maddy.
Violet themself was shaking at the sight… they just…
Killed someone…
