Chapter Text

Purple hadn’t really spoken, and they had tuned out the engineer's complaints for being picked up and brought to medbay by force. Though it did make sense, they just hated how their face was still somehow sore despite it all. Definitely going to need some ice to soothe it since rubbing it was doing nothing.

It was a shorter walk than expected to get to medbay, it appeared that the team Cobalt and Pink had been a part of was the first to get there. The Engineer continued to protest in panic which made the doctor inside very alarmed.

They would let the rust coloured crewmate deal with the angry doctor rather than they themself doing so. They’d hate to get on their bad side.

Entering the room, everything smelled so sterile, which wasn’t much of a surprise seeing that it was the medbay. Looking around, they saw no one really too important to them outside of Pink and Cobalt, the doctor had run up to rust coloured bean and began to scold them for manhandling the engineer.

Purple could almost laugh at the sight before they heard the bean try to flirt with them. Sure, they would be attractive to most crewmates, but they weren’t a crewmate, let alone most of them.

“How about after this we go and get something for lunch, hottie?” Rust said, taking their shot. It most definitely got on the doctors nerves as they clenched and unclenched their hands. “But first I want to make sure that crazy here isn’t an imposter.”

“Can you put my patient down? I know for a fact they aren’t an imposter,” Dr. Blue, ignoring the first bit, but it was clear it got to them. “They aren’t crazy, their concerns are more valid than yours.”

“Fine,” Rust said, just dropping the engineer rather than just putting them down gently. “But you didn’t answer my question about lunch?”

“No,” Dr. Blue said, taking Lime’s hand and guiding them to one of the beds to make sure they were okay. “Now, may I get to doing my job-”

The MIRA rescue team member took Dr. Blue’s, this time with a bit more of a demand than normal. Purple went up to go and stop it but the white guard ended up just blocking their path. Which just made them growl in protest, but they didn’t move one bit.

“Let go of me,” Dr. Blue said, their voice losing the calm and dreamy edge it had before. “Can’t you tell I’m busy treating a patient?”

A familiar face approached, their expression one of disgust and anger. Purple could recognize it anywhere, especially that glare that the whole family had.

“I’m not going to say this again, how about we go get some lunch later,” Rust said, trying to find a way to corner the doctor. “I’m not asking, doctor, I’m demanding.”

The look the doctor had was one of horror as they tried to pull away again, Lime tried to do something before being promptly held back by one of the other guards. It appeared all of them were in on it.

“I already said no,” Dr. Blue said, trying to put what little distance they could between them and the rust coloured bean. “Can’t you just let go already?”

But the rust coloured bean did not let go, it was impossible to see their expression due to their helmet and the crewmate stopping Purple from seeing it, but they imagined it to be some sort of sick smug smile.

Violet got behind the doctor and glared at the bean trying to force themself on them. It was clear that the rust coloured bean was backing away from the size difference alone and not the glaring.

“Can’t you tell they aren’t interested?” Violet growled, they didn’t bother showing any of their imposter features due to how terrifying they already were alone. “Or do I need to beat that into you?”

“N-no, no, t-that won’t be necessary!” Rust stuttered with some nervous laughter, backing away slowly as they raised their hands in defence, the other guards also stopped what they were doing to try and back up their team mate. “I uh… I won’t do it again..?”

Purple took it as their cue to close and lock the door, they did so without much hesitation. It startled everyone in the room as Violet began to get ready for a bit of a fight. They weren’t normally hot tempered, but they set that aside when they thought it necessary.

“It seems like you forgot why my family was so… what is the word I’m looking for…” Violet said, though it was a bit more mocking this time. “Oh right, feared! Oh silly me, how could I forget? I’m sure you’ve heard of Indigo or Dark Slate Blue, you know exactly what they will pay to get an imposter, don’t you?”

Rust was clearly terrified, and Purple was eating it up. Sure, it was a bit bad that they brought up the whole imposter thing, because it meant that a secret was just exposed about how MIRA views imposters, something to be sold and bought.

“It’s enough money to make MIRA shut up about a dead bean and more, but you probably already knew that based on your reaction to their names,” Violet said, which just made rust back up even more. “So when someone says no, you listen. Or no one will ever remember you even existed.”

Violet bent down to the guards height, making their height difference all the more clear as they showed their anger. They smiled a bit at the terror they saw in the crewmates body language, showing their real mouth before hiding it once more.

Purple unlocked the door, even opening it without ever saying a word. They trusted Violet more than anyone, and that’s mainly because they’d always been together. They were twins after all, it would be weird to not trust them.

“So, unless you’re so deadset on forcing the kind doctor to eat lunch with you, I suggest you leave,” Violet said, standing up to their full height with a shaking professional rescue team member below them. “The doors wide open for you.”

The guard ran out rather quickly, the doors slamming shut behind them. Purple flinched a bit, mostly because it was so sudden and not because they were standing too close, definitely not because they were scared of being pinched, no way.

Violet was now focused on Purple, it was really the time to process it as the other was staring at them. They didn’t expect to see each other again for a long time due to how MIRA operated, yet here they were…

Mere footsteps away from each other rather than stars. It was almost too good to be true, but they knew this was real, their dreams were always too cryptic after getting their hands on that device for this not to be real.

That was their twin standing there… That was really their twin standing there… but why was that so hard to believe? Had they expected the crew to vote them out like they had thought their own would after becoming an imposter? It just felt so… unbelievable… to see them standing there.

“Vi..?” Purple asked, reaching a hand out to their twin. It just felt so… surreal. “Is that really you..?”

“Well who else would it be Purps?” Violet answered with a laugh, taking what would have been more steps for Purple than themself to pull them into a hug. “I’ve missed you so much, you know that?”

“Plus, you're acting like you’ve just seen a ghost!” Violet laughed even more as they placed Purple back on the ground. “Now, you gotta tell me what happened to your crew, because I know Cobalt doesn’t look that way for no reason.”

And I am so fucking dead, Purple thought, breaking eye contact with their twin. I am so fucking dead, my funeral has already been booked with a date and everything.

At least I’ll try to die in style… Purple added to their thoughts, trying to find something to change the topic to. Before Violet gave them, the look. They already know… I am so fucking dead….

Ivory was quite surprised to hear that there was only one imposter on the Skeld, and that they had been voted out after attempting to kill the doctor. They didn’t know many imposters, but the ones they did know that killed didn’t wait to kill someone, meaning there was some form of hesitance from the imposter.

The chefs refused to go into more detail without asking some of their own questions, most of which related to imposters which were not their specialty. Plus, they only knew four imposters, they couldn’t say much about them. If they had known more, maybe they’d be more willing to answer the questions they had.

At least the pizza was good, that was something. Of course they still craved Cobalt’s classic pepperoni pizza that somehow always had those cupped pepperoni slices despite them not buying that particular type of pepperoni. And not to talk about saltiness, they could barely taste anything over the flaky salt one of the chefs put on the pizza. They felt bad for the crewmates who had to eat it everyday, of course it could just be a them thing. It wouldn’t be the first time they had an unpopular opinion.

They still ate it in hopes of not being seen as impolite though, they had better but it was still good. They might just need a glass of water to help with the salt after though. Though they would much rather be eating anything else at the moment, they were also simply not in a pizza mood at the moment.

But who were they to complain? They already lived a very privileged life where everything was handed to them no questions asked. Even the job they had now they had only gotten because they hacked into MIRA’s systems to figure out what their sibling’s schedule was because they refused to tell them.

“Hey Ivory!” Dandelion said, voice cheery despite everything that had happened. “WOW! Is that pizza?! Can I have some!”

“Sure kid, there’s plenty to go around,” Ivory said, smiling at the kid as they handed them a slice of cheese pizza with flaky salt. They happily took it and began to eat it. “Now don’t eat it so fast, you might choke.”

Dandelion slowed down a bit, though it still concerned Ivory a bit at how hungry they were. It made them a bit concerned about what the care was for them when Brick wasn’t around to watch them.

It made their face distort into some distaste as they glared at the guards around them. They were a rescue team, the best of the best their sibling had told them, but they couldn’t even save a doctor from falling to their death. It literally fell onto the shoulders of one of the beans they were rescuing.

Maybe they thought I wasn’t good enough, Ivory thought as they looked back at the kid who was so happy to have their pizza. Well I prove them wrong! They haven’t gotten their hands on the parasite yet, but I have!

“Hey, you must be from the other crew!” A stranger said to Ivory, waving at them. They were red and wore a captain's uniform, making it clear they had to be Captain Red of the Skeld. “I’m Captain Red of the Skeld, who may you be?”

“I’m Ivory, Communications Officer of the Squalus,” Ivory said, taking the captain’s hand and shaking it. They eventually sat with them. “Is there any particular reason you have chosen to sit with me?”

“Did you happen to be related to a contest winner by the name of White?” The captain asked, which made it very clear they were more worried about legal troubles than introductions. They gave the captain a deadpan look.

“So all beans who happen to be the colour white are related in your eyes?” Ivory asked, it was honestly quite nice to see Red’s expression shift from that of nervousness to horror. “A little racist, don’t you think?”

If anyone could get any reder than the captain at that moment, Ivory would be surprised. They also grew visibly sweaty quite quickly. No wonder Purple liked messing with the rest of the crew so much before they turned on everyone and went on a killing spree, it was honestly hilarious to watch.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” Purple said, well it was more of panicked shouting from the hallways. “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck.

Speaking of the devil, Ivory thought as the armourer ran into the cafeteria, someone appeared to be following closely behind as well, someone familiar. And there’s Pink, those two seem to have a hard time going solo.

But the two appeared to be quite panicked as yet another bean ran into the cafeteria. This one was much bigger than anyone they had ever seen before, being twice as tall as any of the crewmates in the room.

“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN YOU WENT ON A FUCKING KILLING SPREE?!” They shouted, making both Pink and Purple shrink in on themselves as all they could do was look up at them in horror. “I TELL YOU NOT TO DO ONE THING AND YET HERE YOU ARE! MURDERS BECAUSE OF SOME FUCKING PARANOIA?!

“It was either that or a parasite outbreak, okay..?” Purple said, shrinking even more in their own self as the much taller bean who had to be an imposter glared at them with the same exact glare as Purple. “I did what I thought was necessary…”

“Murder is never necessary unless that bean or beans will cause more harm if kept alive,” The taller purple bean said, still furious but a bit calmer before. “We can’t do the job we’ve been asked to do if everyone is fucking dead.”

Notes:

Sorry about Roda Red not showing up... they are kinda in a coma right now after... what we all know of right?

Yes, I did make Rust to be a character that reflects how some men treat women in real life, you are meant to hate them. I will not punish you if you want to kill them like Green did everyone in the show or how Forteshifter did everyone on Polus in Alt
