"Oh god...Nene..."
Tsukasa stared at the screen in front of him. Emu had hanged herself earlier in the game, so he should have known something like this would happen, but he wasn't expecting Nene to do...that. Or go full yandere.
Now he was scared for Mizuki. And Rui.
But he was too invested in the plot to stop now.
In the game, Mizuki walked into the classroom. Her sprite threw up upon seeing Nene's dead body. Tsukasa didn't blame her. He had wanted to puke, and he could stop at any time. He wasn't actually in the game having to see it.
Then Rui entered the scene.
"Oh dear. I wasn't meaning for you to see this..." Rui's sprite smiled. "Let me just clean this up."
Nene and Mizuki's files were completely deleted.
The scene changed completely. A screen of just Rui...staring. Tsukasa found it a little unnerving. Although, Rui was his favorite doki. At least he would survive. Hopefully.
"Hello, Rui," Tsukasa said outloud. He didn't know why. It wasn't like Rui could hear him.
"Hello, Tsukasa." An actual voice came from Rui's mouth. It moved on screen. Another eerie smile. "We're finally alone."
"AAAEEEEEE!" Tsukasa jumped in his seat. "You can TALK!?"
"Of course I can." Rui began to reach out, but held himself back. "I'm in a game. And I can control it."
"You can...?" Tsukasa's eyes lit up. "THAT'S SO COOL! ...Why did you kill everyone?"
Rui shrugged. "I had to. I don't get a romantic storyline with you. They do. So I had to take care of that."
"You can't edit that part?"
"No."
Tsukasa nodded. "Got it. This isn't all that bad! You're the character I wanted to pursue, after all."
Rui paused. Then his smile grew a little happier. "You did? I'm honored."
"Yeah! I'm not really into women, you know? I only got the game because I thought you were cute."
Rui looked away, his cheeks turning pink as a blush appeared. "You're cute too. I can see you through your camera."
"Awww. I've never been so in love with a video game character." Tsukasa placed his hand on the screen.
"You're adjusting to this fairly quickly." Rui hand also moved to Tsukasa's. Instead of a screen, his hand was just in the air.
"I've seen weirder." Tsukasa abruptly stood up. "I'm gonna go leave now. I'm hungry. "
"DON'T!" Rui also stood up. "Leave the game on, okay? It hurts when it's off."
"Oh..." Tsukasa sat back down. "Do you want me to stay with you? So that you're not lonely."
"It's fine. I know you have to do stuff out there." Rui also sat down. "But I'd prefer you to be with me. Since I don't have anyone else...I kind of miss them. Even if they weren't real."
"Your life must be awful. No offense." Tsukasa stood back up, coming back a minute later with some chips and a soda. "Do you have food in there?"
"Don't need it. I'm still technically a game character."
"Would it be okay if I looked in your game file?" Tsukasa said suddenly. "I want to see if anything in there can let me help you."
"Go ahead. Just keep the game open." Rui could tell Tsukasa was opening the game files.
Tsukasa clicked on Rui's character file. And then...
Accidentally deleted it.
The screen turned pitch black. Then, the usual text boxes appeared on screen.
Tsukasa clicked through the text.
"Tsukasa. What have you done...?"
"I thought you loved me."
"I thought I would have a chance..."
"I was wrong."
"I'll bring them back. You can continue the game."
"I'm so sorry."
The title screen came back up. Emu, Nene, and Mizuki. No more Rui.
Tsukasa decided to continue it, out of curiosity. And Rui never appeared again. No matter how many times he replayed the game.
Just a normal dating simulator now.
He replayed the game a total of 10 times. Rui truly was gone.
Tsukasa finally gave up. He deleted the game from his computer. Not really a point if Rui wasn't in it.
Just Rui.
That's all he had wanted.
