Work Text:

Helga often kept her feelings about her love of Arnold a secret, except now they are boyfriend and girlfriend and she loves him so much. Her girlhood still trembles.

She still sees Dr. Bliss even after helping Arnold find his parents in San Lorenzo even after telling her love to him and seeing if he accepts her or not.

(He does accept her, of course he does, it’s just ironic that she’s who she is and was scared to confess that to him).

Things she agrees with Dr. Bliss is about how she feels so much passion and is super creative. She still needs to work on her anger but something that they’ve been discussing in therapy is also telling Arnold about her poetry and gum shrine she made of him.

(She’s got this and she could do this. What’s the worst thing that can happen? She imagines all those scenarios but with Dr. Bliss, it's just that worst case scenario that she came up with but they may not happen. She has to take a risk anyway. The fact is Arnold has proven how much he loves her and she knows she has proven how much she loves him back.)

“Arnold, I want to show you something in my room?” Helga tells her.. She tries ignoring Miriam and Bob arguing while on the coach not caring about the fact that she brought her boyfriend over to the home.

“Okay, Helga,” Arnold mumbles softly while turning to say hello to her parents who proceed to ignore him.
He’s been to her house before. He knows a bit about her homelife or as much as Helga alludes to it. But he’s never seen her secret shrine to him or her poetry.

She’s ready to let go of the past and see how he responds to her throwing these things out.

“Arnold, these are the hidden depths of my soul, how much I feel for you,” she tells him, “but don’t say anything until I’m done explaining.”

“Alright, Helga let me know when you’re ready,” he responds back looking at her with much clarity of how much he loves her.

Oh and if you’re wondering how he responded to her showing her poems about him and her secret shrine, he just told her he loves how creative she is and then kissed her on the lips.

Maybe letting go of her past is a good thing but she’s glad she’s got Arnold right besides her. And the best part was probably making out on her bed without her parents knowing about it.
