Work Text:
“Holy fuck, David, that was hot,” Patrick pants as he rolls off his boyfriend, lying on his back, breath still heavy with exertion. “Oh my god, I forgot all about that fucking mirror,” he laughs as he looks up to see their naked, sweaty bodies reflected high above, a sea of red satin surrounding them.
“I didn’t. Your ass looked incredible,” David replies, reaching out to take Patrick’s hand in his and smiling up at his boyfriend’s reflection.
Patrick turns to lie on his side, facing David, having seen enough of his own body for the moment.
“So, you’ve had access to a private room with a bed and a locking door our entire relationship and we’re just making use of this now?”
“I’m sorry, did you fuck me so hard your eyes stopped working? Do you not see this hideous abomination?” David exclaims, sitting up and gesturing wildly around him. “I was not about to take your gay virginity on this red satin monstrosity. You would have been scarred for life and never wanted to have sex with me again.”
“Not possible,” Patrick responds, with way too much sincerity than this situation calls for.
David looks over and smiles softly at Patrick before lying back down on his side facing the other man. “Plus, it would be weird, since this is where Stevie and I used to…”
“Weirder than us having sex for the first time in her actual bed?” Patrick asks with a teasing smile on his face.
“But I never had sex with her in that bed and that makes it less weird,” David responds, trying to sound serious even as a small smile creeps across his face. Taking Patrick’s hand in his, David looks down at their intertwined fingers to avoid looking at Patrick’s face. “You know how I told you you’re the only person I’ve ever kissed who I actually cared about?”
“Mm hum,” Patrick murmurs.
“Well, that wasn’t completely true. I cared about Stevie, obviously. I mean, she’s not nice, but I do care about her and respect her and I did for the short while we were… well whatever we were. It’s just different than it is with you and… I guess… I just wanted to keep those two things separate.”
“That makes sense, David. So, what changed? Why are we here tonight?”
“Umm… because you stood up on a stage in our store and sang Tina Fucking Turner to me, that’s what changed,” David exclaims like it’s the most obvious statement in the world.
“I did do that, didn’t I?” Patrick says with a smile.
“Yes, you did. And it was beautiful and it was prefect and I probably would have spontaneously combusted if I didn’t get to have you inside of me tonight, so here we are.”
“Here we are,” Patrick repeats softly.
“And don’t act like you haven’t been keeping things from me either, Patrick Brewer,” David retorts in an accusatory tone, poking a finger at the other man’s chest.
“What… what are you talking about?” Patrick stammers, a hitch in his voice.
“The fucking singing, that voice like an angel. Do know how awful and embarrassing I was prepared for tonight to be?”
“Oh that,” Patrick laughs. “Yes David, I have a pretty good idea of what you were probably expecting,” Patrick teases.
“So why didn’t you tell me about that, about you being so musically inclined?” David asks.
“I don’t know, maybe the same reason as you. To keep things separate. I haven’t played or sang in a long time; it used to bring me joy, but then it stopped, so I stopped. But a few weeks ago, we were unpacking some boxes and you put on your divas playlist. The Best came on and you started singing along, dancing a little bit, mentioned how you always loved the lyrics. You just looked so happy and it inspired to pick up my guitar that night when I got home. You inspire me, David.”
“Maybe you inspire me too, Patrick,” David says softly, reaching out to cup Patrick’s face, pulling him in for a gentle kiss.
Breaking apart, David clears his throat, as if trying to cut through the heavy emotion of the moment. “Plus, Alexis is working on some new marketing strategy for the motel and I guess it involves fixing up this room for rent, so I have to start moving all my stuff out into some storage room upstairs Stevie is clearing out for us. Of course, my dad already told mom about it, so I’ll have to fight her for space. But figured I better take advantage of seeing your perfect ass in that mirror before the opportunity is lost to me.”
“Well David, in that case, I’m not about to miss the opportunity to see your gorgeous ass in that mirror either, so you better be up for round two tonight.”
“Okay stud,” David says with a laugh. “Give me a few more minutes.”
