“Hey, hey, Ichika.” Renji called over his daughter. She looked back and walked towards him.
“Yeah?” She waddled over, tugging on his pants. She was still learning to walk so she was finding support.
“Ya see this, right? It’s a fake egg.” *Renji smirked, holding up a wooden egg. He crouched down and threw it gently on the floor. It rolled across the carpet, clearly fake. Ichika picked it up curiously.
“Hey, I’m gonna give you another one, go up to mom, and throw it on the ground. So we can prank her.” Renji smirked.
Ichika had an evilish glint in her big eyes, she was already a fiesty child and loved jokes and pranks. She found it funny.
Renji held her hand and walked to a hallway that went to the kitchen, he crouched down again, handing her a real egg.
“Okay, okay. Just don’t say anything, got it?” He whispered, praying his young daughter wouldn’t notice. He didn’t think she did, thankfully. She looked excited.
Ichika let go of him and walked to the kitchen, Renji sneaking behind her.
“Mama!!” Ichika said, getting Rukias attention. She had her hair up, and was grabbing a glass of water.
“Oh, what’s up swee-“ Rukias indifferent face turned into a smile at the sight of her daughter, but she made a confused face when she noticed the egg in her hand.
“Uh, Ichika? Why are you holding an egg.?” Rukia said, clearly unamused. Not nervous that she’d do anything stupid, but there was a lace to her voice.
Ichika held up her hand and giggled.
“H-hey Ichika-!” Rukia started, actually worried she’d do something stupid now.
Ichika giggled at her mother and threw the egg on the floor. It shattered. Real egg.
Now, there was just a cracked egg on the floor. Rukias eyes widened in shock, then she whipped her head around when she heard Renji snickering behind the wall, he turned his head and his heart sank a little, Rukia was staring directly at him. Oops…
“Renji.” She glared.
“H-hey!! Hey!! D-daddy said it was fake!!” Ichika suddenly pouted, she had jumped back a bit. Her eyes watered slightly as she pointed and looked at Renji.
Renjis heart sank x2.
Less out of fear, more sadness actually seeing he hurt his daughters feelings.
“Oh! Haha- hey wait- wait ichika don’t cry!!” He walked over, holding his hands out to console her. He crouched down by his daughter.
“*sniff*, s’not fair, daddy!!” She pouted, punching his arm weakly. Renji sweated nervously.
“Baby, baby, please.. it was a prank, haha..”
Rukia still just stared at him. Her eye twitched. Oh, Renji was in for it.
She shook it off and walked to her daughter, avoiding the splattered egg on the ground. She grunted as she picked her up.
“It’s okay, Ichika. Daddy just doesn’t know what a funny prank is yet.” She consoled her by patting her back.
Ouch. Renji flinched. Rukia turned Ichikas head, and then glared at Renji again. Renji was regretting the prank.
“Renji. You plan on cleaning that up, right?”
“! Yes! Yes.. my.. my beautiful wife… of course I will…!” Renji said nervously and a bit quietly. He stood, leaning down to kiss Rukias forehead with a scared smile. He patted Ichikas head before he walked away to grab stuff to clean up the mess.
After Rukia had a fun time telling her husband how to make up more responsible pranks that didn’t ’involve someone cleaning raw egg off the floor’…
He learned his lesson. Yup. Never again.

Ichigo exhaled, sitting down on his couch, a bit exhausted. He and Orihime had finished trying everything possible to console their crying baby, who was just over a year old. (Ichika was about 3 now).
Orihime insisted Ichigo leave for a moment while she tried her best, he insisted he could do it instead but Orihime was stubborn and told him she was capable.
…yeah, he wouldn’t argue with that. He understood how the presence of both parents was overwhelming.
He just sighed and took out his phone, and found a text message from a few minutes ago:
‘Rukia didn’t find it funny.’
