after L died, light yagami toook his place as the fake L, near, L’s successor was trying to find Kira, while Matt and mello were trying to find the death note
Matt and mello are chilling in their underground head quarters, mello as usual was eating chocolate while resting on the couch, on the other hand Matt is smoking a cigarette while leaning on a wall looking at mello, mello see’s Matt eyeing him and snaps
“the hell you looking at asshole”
Matt snickers “what cant I admire the view”
”Tch” mello goes back to eating his chocolate
”I’m going to my room” Matt says out of the blue
mello faces him asking confused “why today there aren’t any assignments plus dont you love sitting in the main room?”
Matt chuckles “no it’s nothing, I just have something I need to do” before mello can retort matt walks to his room in the hideout and closes the door, he walks to his drawer and opens it and inside is many pictures of mello and beside them is a few blades and gauze, he takes one of the blades and a picture of mello and sits on his bed, then takes off his pants and he carves mello’s name into his thigh beside the numerous scars and yesterdays cuts on his thighs, he slices away on his skin as if someone’s controlling him, some of the cuts are deep, exposing the yellow fat beneath, while other’s shallowly split the skin.
eventually he gets tired. Just as he finishes. The door swings open. Mello walks in. Matt acting entirely on instinct. Matt grabs the nearest pillow, slamming it over his bloody thighs, as the pillow dissolves some of the blood, he hides the mello picture underneath himself
his heart pounding his asks “oh uhm what brings you here mello…”
mello looks at him as if trying to read him, but failing “I came here to ask for your switch”
”oh my switch uh it’s in the second drawer”
”I see..” mello walks to Matt’s second drawer and opens it getting his switch then walks over to Matt “what are you doing” he notices the red stain on the pillow that was forming and he thinks to himself “the hell is that blood, the fuck is he doing”
Matt looks around nervously “uh oh uhm nothing really I’m just chilling”
”is that so” he walks over and snatches the pillow thats hiding Matt’s thighs
”…”
“Matt…what the hell is this” he looks at the numerous cuts and scars and he notices his name engraved “is that my name….”
”I’m sorry…”
“Tch you idiot” mello says and gets up and walks outside his room and brings a medkit and Matt’s cigarettes and lighter, then walks over to his bed and sits down “come closer idiot”
Matt scoots over to mello his pants on the floor his thighs bare with scars and cuts still bleeding, mello grabs Matt’s legs and them on his lap and starts bandaging his thighs, while looking at his thighs, he sees it again, his name on Matt’s thighs, he decides to ask but he waits for Matt to take a cigarette and smoke it so it would be less awkward
Matt grabs a cigarette and lights it and takes a drag
“Matt”
“Yea…” matt avoids eye contact
“Why is my name on your thighs”
Matt freezes
“Matt you idiot why did you carve my name”
Matt takes a drag of his cigarette and faces mello “why wouldn’t I” he mumbles “your so oblivious”
Mello looks at Matt confused “what did you say”
Matt sighs “nothing..”
