Chapter Text
It had been a week since the war for capital city, and a week since a certain purple demon has been seen in the public.
Parrot was currently restocking his items for both himself and his knights.
A lot had happened in the recent war, more than half of the players had died. Not just players who chose to fight in the war, but even innocent players that had been listening to LettuceKs' speech.
Why on earth had Wemmbu done that? Hadn't they been through similar things before and learned?
Parrot knows that the purple demon was now working for Arachnid and the kingdom of caves, though he doesn't know the reason why.
But honestly? If he gave it even a second more of space in his mind before, he could probably piece together that Wemmbu was most likely not working for the spider people on his own accord. However, as much as Parrot would've liked to say it, he did not in fact piece that together until now, when he finally got a bit of rest and his mind wasn't as clouded and focused on the constant wars. Oh, and FlameFrags, his newest allys' guilty look whenever the purple demons' bestfriend, Eggchan, got mentioned.
Now it was really only Wemmbu and Shoebilly as their biggest threat, and the former could easily be won over if they manage to rescue the angel, who according to Flame, was in the kingdom of caves.
Actually, what did happen to Wemmbu? And what happened to the kingdom of the caves as well? They've been awfully quiet, too quiet for Parrots liking. What were they up to?
Even though Parrot is really curious, he can't just storm in the caves, that would be idiotic. Sending spies were out of the question as well, when he needed all the people he had to be on guard incase anyone attacked, and he himself was sneaking in anyways to get Eggchan back, so what was the need to spy on them?
Then, in the corner of his eye, he swears he saw a blur of a familiar shade of purple.
"Wemmbu?" Parrot called out in the air, cautiously, he walked closer to where he swears he saw the purple demon. Had Arachnid sent Wemmbu to spy on them?
All of his questions got answered when he finally saw the demon hybird.
But more questions only appeared for him.
Tell him why was he seeing one of the most powerful players in the server translucent and clearly with evil intent?
"Wemmbu..?" Parrot asked hesitantly, frozen in his spot.
Wemmbu wasn't wearing any armor, he wasn't carrying any weapons, and he wasn't even moving.
Yet Parrot was scared stiff in his spot.
Because even though the purple demon seemed completely harmless and vulnerable, the air around him told the complete opposite.
Parrot stared at Wemmbu, analyzing him.
He was still in the same clothes he was in when the avian last saw him, other than the obvious lack of armor that he noted before, though the clothes seemed more torn and worse for wear, as though he had been through hell and back, which maybe he had been, who knows what the purple demon does when he isn't within vision of the public eye.
His hair was disheveled in his high ponytail, some of the braids he almost always had in his hair was either not bounded by the ponytail anymore, or just wouldn't even be considered a braid anymore. His hair looked like it physically battled air, which since Wemmbu was an elytra-mace user, it wouldn't be too far fetched, yet it seemed more wild than usual, like he had indulged free-falling from a high place.
Parrot also noticed that the demon hybrid wasn't wearing the gold tiara he always wore.
If everything else didn't already strike him as weird, then that last part surely did, because as far as Parrot knows, that tiara was very special to the demon, and if it's missing from his appearance now likely meant it had been stolen or confiscated from him.
Parrot doesn't think the demon was reckless enough to lose his beloved tiara.
Yet among all of his previous inspections, four things he noticed scared him the most.
The first was the lack of vocal interaction, the purple demon was known for being loud, that even in the face of death, he would laugh. The Wemmbu in front of him right now was terrifyingly quiet, like the man had suddenly lost his voice.
The second was the fact that he had not moved an inch since Parrot saw him.
The third was the fact that he was translucent, like he had been invisible and his potion was running out, but he didn't flicker the same way you would if it was a potion effect.
And lastly, was the chilling look the demon was giving him.
Parrot knows that Wemmbus' eyes were gold, with black pupils and sclera. Yet it had been covered with a veil ever since he joined the kingdom of the caves. Though now, the veil was partially ripped, and Wemmbus' left eye was visible to Parrot.
And hell does the look he had in his eye make Parrots' breathing start to become erratic.
Why was Wemmbu so disheveled, so still, so quiet, and looking at him like he had murdered everything Wemmbu had lived for?
Parrot is smart, he pieced together that the Wemmbu in front of him was obviously dead, yet questions lingered in his mind.
How did Wemmbu die? When did Wemmbu die? Why did no one say anything about it? Did no one even know? How was Parrot seeing Wemmbu if he was dead? Do ghosts really exist? Nevermind, that last one was stupid. Anyways, most importantly, why was Wemmbu now in the same room as him, looking as if he was about to kill him?
"..."
"..."
The room was in complete silence, neither of the players dared break the silence, and neither moved an inch either.
Parrot doesn't know why Wemmbu wasn't moving, because him? He feels numb. He can't control his body.
Parrot looked down, towards Wemmbus' chest rather than his face, because he fears that if he continued to look into the demons' face any longer that he would drop dead, yet he still needed to be on guard in case Wemmbu did try anything.
Parrot saw Wemmbu begin slowly gliding towards him.
The avian tried to will his body to run, to move, to do anything, yet he couldn't. All he could do was watch as the purple demon get closer and closer.
Parrot looked up and his breath hitched.
Wemmbu was mere inches away from him, staring at him, unblinking.
Parrot swears his soul left his body.
Yet Wemmbu didn't do anything, and instead he looked behind him and disappeared out of existence.
Parrot hunched over and let out the breath he was holding as he heard knocking on the door to his chambers.
"Come in," he said loud enough to be heard from the other side, his voice slightly stuttering as he gasped for breath he hadn't dared take in when he saw Wemmbu.
"Parrot? You good bro?", Theo opened the door and asked as soon as he saw his friend gasping for air like he had just been drowning, quickly going over to the others side to help him stand straight.
"I'm fine.." Parrot assured the yellow avian as he willed his breathing to slow down.
"You don't seem fine, dude. Y'know you can tell me whatever, right?", Theo pushed, concern clear in his tone.
Parrot managed a small, weak smile at the obvious worry, truly, he had such an amazing friend.
"I think I know what happened to Wemmbu," Parrot confessed,
Theo looked at him patiently, waiting for him to continue.
"He.."
Parrot took a deep breath,
"He might be dead, Theo."
