Chapter Text
it was a warm february evening in 1984, michael had just won a grammy. he was glowing with pride, the stage lights casting this almost euphoric glow on his gorgeous features, the sequins reflecting a warm light on his neck. you could see sweat beading by his perfectly styled curls on his forehead from the pure nerves, every time his gloved hand came up to rub under his bottom lip, a rhythmic, practiced movement he regularly did, the diamonds attached expertly to his gloved refracted onto his cheekbone; casting a dispersive light. your eyes met for a mere second making your heart flutter, michael looked amazing tonight, and you weren’t quite sure if you could contain yourself at that afterparty.

booming music rattled the french windows of the ballroom. strobing lights reflecting off the glass, and onto the generous rhinestones encrusted onto the guests dashing attire. crowds of award-winning artists swaying the night away, swirling their cocktails while looking the eye-candy up and down, window shopping for their next one night stand. (although it may start rumours among the press). y/n strutted into the fabulous building, eyes locking onto her curves and her glistening jewellery. “doesent she just look breath-taking” the bouncers hollered at her as she smiled, confidence boosting more by the minute.
she strolled into the crowd with her head high, ready to have fun and get a little tipsy…maybe even get some men to buy her drinks… her ego barely declined so she was confident that she was gonna take someone home tonight, maybe even the *star of the night*... fluorescent lights lit up the bar, giggling and conversation filling the room and wrapping around everyone’s eardrums like a warm hug. she sat down and got herself comfortable, ready for a night of fun and excitement!
she looked around, complimenting people’s outfits using her body language. after all, her smile was contagious, and could light up a room instantly.
about an hour into the afterparty and you were full up on pure booze, holding onto a wine glass like it was a lifeline. everything going on was just so overwhelming, the blinding lights, the constant chatter, the constant men coming up to buy her a drink when she had clearly had enough, the makeup caked on her face was starting to irritate her pores and was separating by her smile lines. she needed a breather, and that’s non negotiable.

your red bottom heels clicking against the extravagant wooden flooring as you made your way to the balcony, the stars lighting up the los angeles city skyline. there he was, in that gorgeous outift, there he stood, michael joeseph jackson, leaning over the balcony ledge, swirling and occasionally sipping a small glass of whisky; the soft breeze blowing his curls to the right. the previously styled curls on his forehead now cascaded down his forehead in this messy but attractive way, the door closed behind you with a soft click, it was quiet, but you’d have to be hard of hearing to not hear it. michael glanced behind him for a second before double taking and looking at you properly, a soft smirk pulling at the left side of his face, he jerked his head down to move his glasses to the tip of his beautifully curved nose, his eyes had a teasing glow in them. he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. he seemed to be thinking what to say to you, after all, you did look gorgeous..
after a minute of comfortable silence and soft eye contact, he spoke
“how come you out here too?” his voice was raised yet low, you had to be quite loud to get your words through the vibrations of the music and conversation behind that balcony door, but you could hear his smile in his tone. his voice was so attractive when he wasn’t putting on that high protective tone for his voice, you felt your face heat up and a you felt a low heat pool somewhere you refuse to acknowledge
“u-ha..um too loud” your words slurred and you let out a nervous laugh before starting your sentence, making michael let out a soft chuckle in amusement at your fluster.
“me too, i like what you did with your um, your hair” he said, his voice cracking slightly as he beckoned you forward with his index finger, he let out a small chuckle as he spoke “c’mere, let me get a good look at you, it’s dark out” you felt the heat in that one area grow, having thoughts you shouldn’t, getting actual shivers from his voice, you nodded almost too eagerly, making him laugh, you stumbled, falling into his arms, suddenly remembering how drunk you were,
“you’re r-really gorgeous up close” you whispered accidentally, drunkenly blurting it out, you noticed a soft pink hue appear on his cheeks, michael subtly biting his lip and mouthing a soft thank you, his hot breath against your skin was not helping with your situation down there
“you’re not bad yourself, girl” he chuckled out, moving your hair out of your face as he gets a good look at your harmonious features, twirling a stray curl from your updo in his finger flirtatiously, his voice turning into a low smooth hum as he hums a wordless tune, likely an unreleased melody he’s planning on making. he finished humming or maybe forgot what he was doing, a comforting silence between you two as you admired his eyes, the same eyes he was so insecure of, they were beautiful, they had this soft almost angelic glow as he admired your face.
this man was gorgeous.
“wanna g-go get somethin’ to drink..?” you ask, finally breaking the silence, michael’s eyes drift down to your lips before drifting back up to your eyes, he licked his lips lightly before speaking ..
“i think you’ve had enough but sure” he chuckled, his smile evident through his tone
