Work Text:
To anyone else, today was a normal day. There wasn't any particular form of holiday or event, nor was there any coming up. The weather wasn't even anything of note, being just a standard partially cloudy day.
However, for Medkit it was anything but normal. Today was the anniversary of his escape from the Blackrock compound, and of the horrific fight between him and his old roommate.
He planned to spend today alone, maybe run some errands. He wanted to try and make it feel as normal as possible. He didn't want to think about what happened so many years ago. Every year, he tried to just pretend it was fine - but hopefully, this year would be the year he'd finally actually succeed.
He woke up, and made a microwave meal he had found in the back of his freezer. Today was going to be normal, he told himself. He might even join a round or two of combat - who knows, maybe it'll get his mind off of it all. As he cooked, he watched a news broadcast about the results of the most recent phights.
A Korblox vehicle was on its way to Crossroads, and not for a standard round of phighting. The van had nothing on it besides the Blackrock logo, and a set of text saying "Biograft Deployment Vehicle".
Inphernals whispered to each other as they saw it enter Crossroads, spreading theories of what it could be.
Zuka was the first to see it go past, and he gritted his teeth as it went past. He took note of where it was going, before picking up his phone and calling Medkit.
Medkit heard the phone - the normal one, not Broker's - ring. He tilts his head. He shouldn't be getting a call at this time, not this early. He checks for any messages before accepting the call. Zuka spoke.
"Blackrock vehicle heading your way. Be advised." Zuka said.
Medkit froze up. "…Alright, got it, thank you." He says quietly, before hanging up. He put his phone away, and locked the door. He sat on his couch and began to shake a bit. How could they have found him? Did someone follow him home after a match? Did someone he knew tell them? Maybe they were heading somewhere else, he told himself. They had to be.
Regardless, he started packing - they were getting closer to finding him each month, it seemed. He glances over at the bright red phone next to the couch, debating on picking it up and calling Broker. He had put off moving into the main True Eye facility, wanting to keep at least a bit of individuality, but it was becoming more and more clear that he should potentially move there sooner rather then later.
And then a knock came at the door. Medkit didn't answer, hoping whoever it was would just assume he wasn't home. Maybe it's just Shotgun. He checked his phone, seeing if she had messaged him. She always messaged him before stopping by.
There was no message.
Another knock came at the door, followed by an uncomfortably familiar voice.
"Come on Meddy! I know you're in there, come say hi to your old friend!" spoke Subspace on the other side. "Don't make me come in there myself, did you forget all of your manners? You're supposed to respect your superiors, and by my calculations that should be me!"
Medkit still didn't answer, backing up to grab his gun. There's no way they'd break down the door, right? That'd bring even more attention on them then they already had.
Turns out, they didn't even need to break it down. Medkit heard the audible unlocking of the door, and aimed his gun as he watched it open slowly.
In came Subspace himself, followed by multiple Biografts.
Medkit pulled the trigger. No matter how much he hit the biografts, they never went down. He switched to throwing things, trying to use the little amount of furniture he had to block them from getting to him.
Subspace just chuckled, and the biografts just went over the obstacles. They promptly restrained him. Subspace moved to be infront of him.
"It's really quite impressive all the efforts you put into hiding from me, Medkit, really!" Subspace says, forcing Medkit to make eye contact. "But did you really think I wouldn't eventually find you?" Medkit didn't respond, more focused on trying to wrench out of the grasp of the biografts holding him. Subspace snickers a bit.
"Oh, don't waste your energy trying to get out. It's actually quite impressive the strength of these guys! I'm quite proud of them." He says, patting Medkit's head. "Zetas, bring him back to the car. Make sure he can't get escape."
"YES CREATOR." The biografts respond, carrying Medkit outside and latching him down in the passenger seat. Subspace follows, getting in a seat in the back along with the biografts.
Before the car starts, Subspace looks at Medkit. "Oh! Can't forget this-" He says, and Medkit suddenly feels a sharp prick in his arm.
The driver begins driving, and by the time they get onto the highway to Blackrock Medkit has already lost consciousness.
The next thing Medkit woke up to was burning pain, and even tighter restraints. The pain itself almost caused Medkit to pass out again, but he desperately fought to keep his consciousness for at least a bit longer. There was a bright light above him, and the feeling of a knife cutting through his skin.
He couldn't move, paralyzed in place. At some point in his time of unconsciousness, he must've been injected with something in order to prevent him from moving in the case he did end up waking up.
Standing over him was some form of pink biograft. It was cutting into him with a look of fascination.
Medkit doesn't remain awake for long, as the pain gets to be too much for him.
He woke up to a metallic feeling against his face, wires & tubes in his skin, and a lack of solid ground below him. He let out a groan, before immediately tugging on one of the wires. A shock shoots through his body, and he yelps. He lets go of the wire and shuts his eyes, hoping that maybe, the maybe he'd wake up from it, maybe it had all been a dream.
"Ah! You're awake!" Chirped Subspace over a speaker. "Hold on, hold on I'll be right over. I have to talk to you in person. Don't pull anything out, it'll just hurt you worse."
Medkit begins looking around the room, hoping for something, anything that would allow him to get out. The room was large,
His breath was shaky. He looks at his hands, staring at the metal claws that now replaced his hands.
Before he could think about the changes, Subspace enters the room.
"What do you think, Medkit?" He says, clapping his hands together. "They wouldn't let me connect you up to the rest of the systems yet, but…"
"What the hell have you done to me." Medkit hissed back, before yelping as a sudden shock runs through his body.
"Now now, don't be so hostile..." Subspace coos, frowning. "I've made you perfect!". Medkit doesn't respond, shaking and still trying to process the shock.
"Don't worry, I know, it's a lot to take in. Take your time! I'll be back in the morning. I'll start up your screen system in order for you to begin getting used to that part." Subspace says, slipping out of the room.
