Katsuki Bakugou and Izuku Midoriya have known each other since childhood and for as long as Izuku can remember Katsuki hated his guts. Izuku didn’t know why so he kept coming back in hope to find a way to befriend him once again.
It was a normal day like any other. afterschool Katsuki, Izuku, and the rest of the extras went to the woods behind the school. Izuku knew that going back there was wrong if he didn’t go he would get made fun of but also if he did he would still get made fun of so he choose to go ahead and go wanting a bit of adventure.
Izuku thought it would be like any other normal after school day till Kastuki and his friends cornered Izuku. “Kacchan can you let me go now?? please?.”
Izuku said as he took a step behind him realizing that his spine was already pressed against the trunk of the tree. “Don’t be so chicken Deku we’re just trying to toughen you up” Katsuki said cracking his knuckles as his friends behind him started clucking like a chicken.
Katsuki aimed for a blast near Izukus head and actually aiming to hit the trunk of the tree till Katsuki slipped on a few pebbles below him making his aim inaccurate . The sweat from his palms increased the size of the explosions and instead of hitting the tree katsuki tried to balance himself his panic rising causing the explosions come out both hands and into izukus ears.
A painful ringing played through Izukus ears and he bent down covering his ears. “Sorry Izuku are you okay?” Katsuki panicked and extended an arm to help Izuku up. As Izuku removed his hands from his ears Katsukis eyes widened in fear. Blood was running from izukus ears. Izuku stared in confusion since he couldn’t hear anything everything was muffled.
As Izuku checked his hands he saw the specks of blood and his eyes became watery as tears threaten to pour out. At this point Izuku couldn’t hear anything everything was muffled and weird he had this painful annoying ringing in his ear. Katsuki grabbed izukus hand and brang him back over to the school. Izuku face was now stained from the streams of tears he cried. “Are you okay?” Katsuki asked once more but Izuku couldn’t hear him so he didn’t respond. “I’m talking to you answer me!” Katsuki said as his hands shaked but once again Izuku didn’t answer which was weird because no matter how mad Izuku was he always responded and reassured people everything was alright .
Once Katsuki brought Izuku back to school ground their moms were called and Katsukis was thanked for bringing Izuku back and being such an amazing friend but only katsuki knew the true story and some other people aswell. Before Katsuki got to tell Izuku goodbye his mom and him had already left.
Inko had rushed Izuku to the hospital worried for his health and safety. The doctors swore everything was fine just a couple of bleeding but Inko insisted something else was wrong so the doctors decided to check deeper into his ears and they revealed that his ear canals both of them were burnt and his auditory nerve had been damaged aswell cause him too most likely be deaf. The doctors also told Inko that he may suffer from tinnitus or vertigo.
By the time Inko had taken Izuku back home Izuku was fast asleep. Katsuki stared from the window the guilt eating him alive. Izuku had layed fast asleep on his bed not one thing disturbing his peaceful slumber. By the time he woke up it was around 1:00pm. “I should be at school” thought Izuku and he walked into the kitchen looking for a snack. He sees from the corner of his eyes that Auntie Mitsuku and his mom Inko were having what looked like a serious conversation in the dining table.
He wondered why he couldn’t hear the words then he realized he was deaf. He may be a dumb kid but he knows that someone who can’t hear is diagnosed as deaf since he had watched a silent voice one time. He wondered “will i ever be able to hear kacchans voice again or my moms what about mine aswell” Izuku tried to go back to sleep but the thought still linger in his mind.

Katsuki hadn’t seen Izuku since that day he watched from the window. He had been feeling this guilt that made his heart ache every time he thought about Izukus tear stained face that day. Now he was walking towards the gates of UA high school wishing that Izuku was standing by his side. He wanted to hear Izuku muttering about random nonsense again but instead he was walking alone. Katsuki placed his ear buds in his ears not wanting to hear disturbed by any extra that approached him. The song I Thought I Saw Your Face Today by She & Him starts plays and Katsuki stares confused not remembering adding this to his playlist.
He walks down finally reaching the entrance to class 1-A but at the corner of his eyes he sees curly green hair. He quickly whips his head around and sees Izuku. And like clockwork the part in the song
“But I just see the memories
as they come
as they come
And I couldn’t help but fall in love again”
He stares at Izuku and thinks why isn’t he walking towards the hero course he’s always wanted to be a hero. He sees Izuku heading towards the support course door and Power loader welcomes him in.
Katsuki stares in shock not processing that they won’t be in the same class but is just freaked out that he saw IZUKU after 7 years. He looked more calm and collected and mature. Katsukis heart beats with guilt, happiness, and a bit of something else he just can’t detect yet but whatever it was made him feel like jello.
A girl with pink skin and curly pink hair bumps into him knocking Katsuki out his trance.
“Sorry- oh wait I see what’s going on” the girl says.
“It’s not ughhh nevermind” Katsuki tries to explain.
“I’m Mina is what’s your name boy who stares at something but it’s definitely not what it looks like?”
“My names Katsuki and I swear it’s not what it looks like you’ve got it wrong”
“You don’t even know what I was thinking… unless whatever you were thinking you actually wanted it but couldn’t accept it” she says coming up with a theory
“What no I’m not in love with whoever that is” Katsuki says not realizing his ears turning as red as his eyes.
“Sure sure whatever you say and no one said anything about love this proves the theory even more” she says teasing
“Let’s just sit down and don’t you dare mention this to anyone else”
The bell rings and the race hurriedly to some random seat. Katsuki takes out his headphones and places them back in his bag.
Mr aizawa walks into class and announces
“I believe you have all gotten an email but as expected none of you have opened it”
Everyone stares confused hoping someone had read it and suddenly a miracle guardian angel raises their hand aka iida
“I read it it’s about the joint project with the support course students”
Everyone just nods and agrees trusting iida since he seemed truthful and valid.
“Yes you are correct and remember this project goes till the end of this year till you move onto the next class and it’s worth 50% of your grade so you better work hard.” Aizawa says
Everyone’s jaws hit the floor not knowing that piece of information.
“Anyways the support course students should be walking in at anytime so I’ll announce your partners”
As the support course students walk in aizawa pairs Katsuki and Izuku together. Katsuki looks over at the door and Izuku and Katsuki lock eyes. Mina smirks thinking about everything that’s gonna go down this year.
