imagine a pocket sized you floating down the steps of the Great Hall. it’s already your third week at Hogwarts but everyone you see still averts their gazes or talks about you behind gnarled hands. (how had a clauricorn been accepted at Hogwarts—nothing more than a fairy with tricks up its sleeves.) you edge through the suffocating fog of whispers and head out to the castle grounds.
you’re drifting between sun beams filtering through the leafy forest canopy above when you hear a pretty melody being hummed close by. you peek out from behind a low branch and watch as a beautiful boy with orange creamsicle hair prods at a small notch in a tree. he sings a few low notes and then you see it—the bowtruckle shyly peeking out at him. the boy giggles loudly and the poor creature startles back into its hole. he throws his head back in frustration and that’s when his eyes finally meet yours. he jumps up and beams at you, those dark brown eyes disappearing behind a rectangle-shaped smile.
that afternoon you teach taehyung, the third year hufflepuff, how to properly coax a bowtruckle out of its tree.
