My Own Worst Enemy

Summary:

Everyone knows Regina George. She's pretty, cunning, and a bitch. After her ex, Aaron Samuels, calls her out, she is forced to take action.

Rodrick Heffley is an extremely less-known guy. He's awkward, lazy, clever, and delusional. In hopes of putting his band on the map, he needs to throw a party, of course.

These two together are an unconventional pair. Yet they work together, for their own benefits, or so they thought.

Chapter 1: At The Party

Chapter Text

Rodrick stands there on the wall, drink in hand, subtly but yet aggressively nodding his head to the up beat rock music. His friend, Tony, is listening to the music along with him but stops to talk about their band.

“Dude we need to find a way to get our stuff out there…”. He pauses thinking of what to say next. “OH! We should have a party to promote our music.”

Rodrick ignores him for a while, still listening to the music with his eyes closed. Suddenly a bright idea comes into Rodrick’s head.
“Dude! We should have a party to promote our band.”

Tony gives him a blank stare as Rodrick looks pleased with himself. With this new found assurance Rodrick bangs his head harder as the music flows through his ears. Rodrick has not found anything more entertaining than music, torturing his brother, and ultimately being a slack off, and doing what he feels like. Tony rolls his eyes as he continues to look out into the crowd to see who's all there. Although not interested in most of the girls at the party. Yet something, or rather someone, bright, blonde hair, model height and body, covered in pink. This woman in pink is making her way to the kitchen with an unpleasant scrunch to her face.

“Woahh who pissed off the hottie?” Tony states. Rodrick looks in the direction Tony was referring to. Against his will he did not hear the music anymore. As a hitman tracking a target Rodrick eyes followed the girl with the blonde hair. Mouth agape with a stammer beginning to form “I- I- I’ll be right back…I uh- uhm- feel a bit thirsty.”. Rodrick leaves his friend following the girl into the kitchen. Tony shakes his head knowing that his friend is bound to make a fool of himself.

~~~~~~~
Regina stands in front of Aaron Samuels, her ex, playing coy. Aaron unammused. Although Regina broke up with him, it isn’t stopping her from getting what she wants. Or is it? The thing is that Regina is always in it for the love of the game, nothing more, nothing less. Aaron, on the other hand, is tired of these games. Coming up onto the 3rd year of this off and on, round about, you’re my boyfriend, but I hate you nonsense. He is tired and isn’t willing to participate again.
“C’mon Aaron, just because I broke up with you doesn’t mean I don’t like you anymore.” Regina says with mischievous eyes.
“Oh Regina please, you just like using me when it benefits you.”
Regina rolls her eyes. She pauses for a moment, her eyes dancing to the side. What he says Regina has heard all her life. That Regina’s selfish, prideful, and cunning; She only looks out for her and her only with no regard for others. Regina knows what she’s doing, but she isn’t heartless. If anything her determination of being in control stems from the fear of being overlooked. So she continues to put on this strong front. “Aaron as if..”
“As if nothing Regina..” Aaron cuts her off. “..look I like you too but right now you’re not the person I want to be with. I want to be with the Regina I met. The one who is cool, and carefree. The one who didn’t care what others think and the one who was friends with Jan-”
“Don’t. say. that. freakshows name.”
Aaron puts his hands up in an attempt to tread lightly. “That's what I’m talking about..” He says teasingly. Regina's eyes furrow and she lets out a sound of disgust. Storming off towards the kitchen, “Out my way!” She spat weaving through the crowd fueled with irritation for not getting what she wanted.
~~~~~~~

Rodrick is nearing the kitchen with Regina not too far ahead of him. In his head he’s spiraling thinking of what to say or talk about: {uhmm.. Thirsty, Drink uhh, Name, Pretty} “Here!”. He shouts speaking to the girl in pink. Unfortunately his feet were moving faster than his thoughts and now he is standing in front of her. She doesn’t say anything but her face is covered with confusion. Slowly she is becoming more irritated and is set to walk away. The only thing keeping her there is his messy eyeline and fringed hair, {This guy looks homeless}. Unknowingly she responds out of disbelief “Excuse me!?”.

Now getting a better look at the beauty he knew from behind he realizes that it is Regina George. The NorthShore High’s queen bee. As Rodrick being himself he doesn’t back down because, well now it is too late. “Here!”

He grabs the drink out of the person’s hand who just poured it for himself. “For you.” Rodrick says with a sly smile on his face offering it to Regina. She is unpleased, face unchanging, and officially ticked off. Rodrick can see it all over her face; he knows he’s blowing it. Regina looks around the room remembering who she is. She can’t be caught facing him, it’s social suicide. Then her eyes meet Aaron’s down the hall. Aaron almost looks away but pauses as his face becomes puzzled {Is she talking to Heffley?}. Without another word Regina gives Rodrick a death glare. He smiles hoping for the best, until two things fall at the same time, his smile and the cup of punch. Regina slapped it out of his hand and stormed off {This party sucks}.

Rodrick sighs to himself and nods. {That went well, very well.}. He looks at the guy who he took the punch from. “She totally wants me.” Rodrick says with assurance. He rolls his eyes and walks off with another cup of punch. Through the crowded people Regina is still in view. She glances back at Rodrick one last time before leaving the party. He gives her a subtle wave as she zooms towards the door, eyes rolling in disgust.
