Josh rumbles a laugh against his throat.
“Never,” he responds, “have I had anyone say ‘oh man’ while I am getting in their pants”
---
or, on a glorified dare from his friends, soon-to-be college freshman Tyler hooks up with insanely hot and super sweet Josh

Notes:

This was originally the second chapter to an AU I scrapped where this happened but Josh forgot it, and then joined the band, but i got really sick of writing it really fast. This was entirely separate from the plot though, so I figured it's whatever enough to be posted as a one shot!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It’s a sweltering summer before his freshman year of college, and Tyler has a to-do list of sorts, assigned to him after losing a bet to his oldest friends, to complete by the end of it. On said list are items such as “have your first drink”, or “wear a dress in public”, as well as less-than-PG tasks like “lose your virginity”, “go skinny dipping”, and “make out with a man”. It’s because of this list that he finds himself, fake ID and all, at a crummy, stuffy little bar at 6pm on a Tuesday.

The bar on its own has very little to say for itself, boasting only a smattering of tables and booths lining a haphazard dance floor. The bass from the corner speakers was booming, however, and an objectively large crowd for such a miniscule location hopped and bopped around, barely tipsy yet. Tyler is seated at a stool near the wall, shoulders tense, surveying the bar for a target for any one of his tasks (He’s too old. She’s too scary. He looks like a pervert) when a glass of something fruity is placed in front of him.

He glances across the room to where the bartender loosely points and sees a bright, cheery, definitely-under-21-years-old guy waving at him. Once he meets the dude's eyes, the wave changes into beckoning fingers, calling him over. Objectively speaking, he isn’t a bad looking man, and Tyler can look past the horribly dyed hair to appreciate the obvious muscle under his shirt. He feels a blush rising on his face, ears burning. He can’t seriously be entertaining the first guy who buys him a drink. But his body moves as if of his own accord, and he holds the drink loosely in his hand as he walks over.

“Hey!” the guy cheers as he approaches, “glad I got your attention!”

“Um,” Tyler says, eloquently, “hi?”

“Oh, sorry,” the stranger corrects, holding out a hand in introduction, “I’m Josh!”

“Um,” Tyler says again, and then promptly wants to hit himself, “I’m Tyler?”

“You sure about that?” Josh teases, mouth tilted in a smirk, “You sure don't sound very confident”

Tyler feels himself bristle at the tone, and forces himself to relax. He has a job to do here, and- he glances around the bar again, quickly, just to be sure. Yes- Josh is the best option for it to happen with. He fakes a laugh, sitting across the table, trying to keep his posture open, casual. No bigger turnoff than the visible anxiety of the guy you just met, or however the saying goes.

“I’m sure,” he says, then decides to risk it, “so, here by yourself?”

It’s a disgustingly cliche line, and he regrets it as soon as it leaves his mouth. Josh laughs, though, eyes crinkling, and then points at him.

“Not anymore,” he says gleefully, slightly too loud “now you’re here”

He sways a little at the end of his sentence, finger veering off to focus instead on the lights, and upon closer inspection Tyler can see that Josh has clearly had a bit to drink. He isn’t sure on the specifics of how ethical it is to ask to kiss a drunk guy, but considering Josh had invited him over, he wasn’t too worried. He takes a sip of the drink Josh had bought him, making a face at the taste of the alcohol.

“So,” Josh continues, just shy of shouting, “you got a fake ID too?”

Dude,” Tyler hisses, slapping a hand over his mouth as people look towards them, “don’t say that. They’ll kick us out!”

Actually, Tyler noted, it looked very much like the bartender was coming over to do that this very second. He curses, dropping his hand from Josh’s mouth, readying himself to argue his case.

“That’s A-okay with me,” says Josh, the lunatic, as if they couldn’t be arrested, “we can just go to my place”

Josh tugs on his wrist instead, and starts running to the door. Tyler feels himself being pulled along, tripping over his feet to catch up. A sharp, incredulous laugh tears its way out of his throat, and by the time they’ve made it outside he’s giggling so hard he can barely catch his breath. Josh drags him to a beat up minivan on the side of the road, and they tumble in, Josh joining him in hysterical laughter.

“Man,” Tyler gasps out through hiccups of laughter, “what is your problem?”

Josh just laughs harder, hand still clasped tight around Tyler’s wrist. A lot of him, in fact, is around Tyler. In their clumsy escape Josh had ended up right on top of Tyler in the back seat of the car, body pressed against him at way too many points. Tyler feels his heart race, anxiety suddenly bubbling up through his body, choking the laughs out of his throat. Josh’s laughter slowly tapers off, until he’s just looking down, right at Tyler, eyes evaluating the situation.

Tyler feels stuck, his rabbit pulse jackhammering loudly in his ears as Josh leans in. He squeezes his eyes shut and commits, right then, straining his neck to reach up and meet Josh’s lips with his own. Their foreheads hit together, and Josh jerks back, hissing in pain. Tyler chases him, hand moving up to grab the back of his hair, to pull him back into the kiss. They maneuver better this time, mouths fitting together with ease, the air between them quickly growing heated.

This was maybe more than Tyler had signed himself up for, he thinks, as Josh’s hand moves up his arm, squeezing at his biceps, digging his nails in. “Make out with a man” was supposed to be the one thing on his list he wouldn’t do. He had never done anything more than kissing before, and that had been with very mediocre girls in the hallways of his high school. Josh didn’t seem so mediocre. Josh seemed to be incredibly beautiful, and very skilled with his mouth.

He’s pulled sharply out of his thoughts as Josh’s hand, much larger than his, sneaks its way up and under his shirt, nails scratching along his skin. Tyler shivers, twitches, breaks away from the kiss to catch his breath, and maybe to say something, but Josh shifts his position so his insanely muscled thigh is between Tyler’s legs. Tyler gasps, grabbing Josh’s arm as he realizes exactly how turned on he is. His whole body feels warm, heart pounding in a much better way than earlier, his gut twisted in arousal and a slight embarrassment. On top of it all, his dick is hard and aching in his pants, and he squirms around in a futile attempt to create friction.

Josh pins him down, hands hard on his hips, and moves his mouth down to Tyler's jaw, biting and sucking at the sensitive skin, drawing short, whiny breaths from the man. Tyler wonders if anyone can tell what they’re doing, in the minivan. Josh bites down hard on his neck, soothing the spot with his tongue a second later, and Tyler forgets exactly why he was worried.

“Oh, man” he says breathlessly, neck stinging “what are you, a vampire?”

Josh rumbles a laugh against his throat.

“Never,” he responds, “have I had anyone say ‘oh man’ while I am getting in their pants”

Tyler flushes, embarrassed.

“Ive never,” he starts, and then trails off.

Josh moves off of his neck, sitting back on Tyler’s leg, surprise written across his face. He squints at him, as if examining a specimen, and Tyler squirms around again, desperate for friction, for the attention to leave the subject of his virginity.

“Never with a guy, or like,” Josh sounds shocked, “like ever?”

“Alright, dude,” Tyler grumbles, “It’s not that weird”

Josh shakes his head at that, vaguely reminiscent of a wet dog, and his face changes at whatever he sees in Tyler’s expression.

“Oh, no!” he starts, “not like, experience-judging! I just thought-”

He stops himself, blushing at whatever he had been about to say. Shame is slowly drowning out Tyler’s previous arousal, and he tries to wiggle free from Josh’s iron grip around his waist.

“It’s more that,” Josh continues, quieter “you’re like, insanely good-looking”

What. Tyler stills, looking up, meeting Josh’s gaze. It’s overflowing with a strange sincerity.

“So, sorry,” Tyler says, irked, pent up, “we stopped because you’re shocked I’m a pretty virgin?”

Josh looks like he doesn’t have anything to say to that. Tyler growls and yanks him back down, smashing their mouths back together violently. He bites at Josh’s lip, hands wandering down his torso before he moves back, yanking the tank over his head, raking his eyes over Josh’s now-bare chest.

“If you do not get me off right now,” Tyler says, voice thick with desire, “I am going to kill you”

Josh makes a sound in between a laugh and a groan.

“Okay, cowboy,” he says, “only if you behave”

Tyler snaps his teeth at him like a feral animal, but gives in, letting go of Josh long enough for the man to straddle his hips, grinding down on his aching dick. His hands stay on Tyler’s waist, squeezing hard enough that Tyler is just the slightest bit worried he’ll bruise because of it. Tyler moves his hands to the button of Josh’s pants before pausing.

“Please?” he says, tilting his head where it lies on the car seat. Josh swears, grinding down again, nodding frantically. Tyler feels slightly proud of his newly discovered ability to seduce, and promptly forgets that pride as he gets a hand around Josh’s dick, forcing a soft, choked sound out of the man. Josh copies him, hands finally moving in from his waist to the button of his shorts. Tyler feels a spark of nerves in his stomach as Josh easily pops the button open, trying to ignore it as he begins to pump his hand faster, forcing more stutters and bitten-off sounds out of the man on top of him.

Everywhere the two of them touch sends sparks down Tyler’s spine, the feeling overwhelming even as Josh moves his fingers gently under the waistband of his boxers, reaching in agonizingly slowly.

“Josh,” Tyler whines, unable to focus on his job of getting Josh off any longer, “please, please touch me”

Josh grins, continuing his slow pace as he palms Tyler’s dick, callouses rough against his sensitive skin. Tyler inhales, sharp, quick, groaning when Josh closes his fist, somehow slowing his movements even more. The tension is building within him regardless, and Tyler is embarrassed to realize that he isn’t going to last long like this, pleasure overtaking all of his other senses.

“Josh”, he starts, breathy, “I’m already-”

“Yeah,” Josh cuts him off, voice rough, “me too”

Josh moves back in, lips back on Tyler’s neck as he finally, finally quickens his pace, and Tyler comes with a shout, arching against the leather seat below him as Josh sucks more marks into his neck. Josh stays close, and Tyler trembles with overstimulation as the relentless attack against his throat moves down to his collarbone. Josh grinds his dick against Tyler’s thigh and it's so hot that Tyler is certain he would be rock-hard again if he hadn’t just come.

“Oh, god,” he chokes out, slightly crazed. This is insane. A stranger he met at a bar is literally humping his leg like a dog. He can never tell his friends any of these details.

Josh’s thrusts begin to stutter as he reaches his own orgasm, biting down hard into Tyler’s shoulder to muffle his moans. He collapses, spent, on top of Tyler, who makes no move to get out of the way or even into a more comfortable position.

Josh chuckles, breathlessly, asking, “everything you imagined?”

Tyler hums, blissed out beneath him, ignorant of the sweat that sticks to their bodies and the heat in the van.

“Yeah,” laughs Josh, "that's what I thought”

Notes:

do Not concern yourselves, neither of them are actually drunk enough not to consent, and the planned memory loss from the original au was going to just be a concussion. This is entirely consensual of course.
