Work Text:
Remus had been the one to suggest it, actually, while he was rereading the books. Remus also would have done it anyway, just on his side of the Imagination. But he wanted the scale to be accurate, so he went to Roman, and Roman was absolutely delighted with Remus’s idea. So much so that they began working right away.
And that’s how after not leaving the Imagination for three days they wound up with the Imagination looking exactly like Pyrrhia. They hadn’t done Pantala yet mostly because they wanted everything to be accurate and it took a lot of energy to expand the Imagination further for them.
Remus bounced happily as the two gazed down at their creation, watching the SkyWing palace as described in the first book when the Dragonets had been captured. This was Remus’s favorite place, second only to Burn’s stronghold. Roman loved the Scorpion Den and the SeaWing palaces, both of them.
And, they had made the Imagination as though it were a movie below them. “Oh! Are the gladiator fights about to start?” Remus asked, leaning forward more to get a better look. Roman laughed lightly, settling on the cloud they were atop of.
“I always loved Peril,” Remus continued, “and Scarlet as a villain. It’s really satisfying imagining her face sizzling and being deformed.” He laughs right after, and Roman rolls his eyes.
“Maybe we should get Logan? I think he’d like to see this too.”
“The gladiator fight?”
“No! Well, maybe? I just meant this overall.”
Remus’s eyes lit up, and he stuck his hand out to almost pause what was happening below. “Alright, but be quick, please? I really, really wanna watch this with you!”
Roman nodded, getting to his feet and sinking out. He had to admit, it was really fun doing this with Remus, and he really hoped Logan enjoyed it too. It was definitely a shock to both twins that Logan had not only read the books, but had loved the books as much as they did. Sometimes Logan would even get roped into their debates or insults(which consisted of calling one another various villains).
Roman knocked on Logan’s door after not seeing him in the commons, bouncing on his heels, eager to return to his brother. A few moments went by before Logan opened the door, confusion gracing his face when Roman beamed at him.
“Do you need my assistance?” Logan asked, folding his arms over his chest.
“Remus and I wanted to show you something!”
Logan’s confusion only seemed to grow. “Me?”
“Yeah! Come on, you’re going to love it! Well, hopefully. You weren’t busy, were you?”
The logical side bit his lip, glancing back towards his desk, then to Roman again. He sighed and shook his head, and Roman grinned, grabbing Logan’s arm and sinking out once again.
Logan stumbled slightly as they rose up on a cloud, and Remus turned over to look at them. He huffed. “Finally! I was just about ready to say fuck it and start everything up again!”
“Start what up?” Logan inquired, being guided to sit down between the twins.
“This!” Remus practically squealed, pointing down. Logan followed his finger and saw the massive arena, the castle, and most importantly, the dragons.
“You guys didn’t,” Logan said quietly, leaning forward a bit more in amazement. A stupid grin was on his face and he couldn’t tear his eyes away. “This is why you both were gone for so long?”
“Yep!”
“What day is it?”
“Um, the one where Peril fights Horizon. Right, Remus?”
“Correct!” Remus kicked his legs as he laughed. “Oh, I can’t wait to watch him burn to a crisp! The gladiator fights were always my favorite. Gave me a few ideas for pranks.”
Roman rolls his eyes. “I remember. As does Janus, I think, since you pitted us against each other.” Logan laughed as Remus waved dismissively.
“Yeah, yeah. Lo, what’re your favorite parts? We can skip to those scenes after this if you want, or we can watch the series continue for a while by itself!”
Logan blinked at Remus just as Vermillion introduced Horizon and his four wins. “Oh! Um, I really like the RainWing challenges for the throne, and how all that went down.”
“RainWings definitely are amazing, and the challenges were fun to read. Can’t wait to get to that part!” Roman hummed, flashing Logan a warm smile. “I really like-”
Remus shushed him, shoving a hand past Logan and over Roman’s mouth. “Quiet or I’ll toss you onto Peril.”
Roman pulled Remus’s hand away, huffing in minor annoyance. Logan was the one to roll his eyes, smiling in amusement as he turned his attention down to the arena in time to see Horizon leap over Peril.
Logan tilted his head, squinting down at the mostly orange form. But even from up here, he could see some inconsistencies with her design. Like her wings, instead of a faint yellow color for the veins that were normally there, they were a bright, piercing blue. There was more blue along her spine and on her face, and Logan would have pointed it out to them.
But when he looked to his sides and saw the brothers smiling wide, Remus cheering when Horizon clung to Peril and killed himself while Roman watched with pride at the fact they had created this in the first place, Logan couldn’t find it in him to point out the incorrect design.
Besides, Logan had to admit it, Peril definitely stood out more with the design change.
He settled further onto the cloud, feeling the twins press closer, and Logan couldn’t wait to see the rest of the world they created.
