Chapter Text
The soft rustle of papers echoed in the sleek, glass-walled office high above the city. Jeonghan’s long fingers flipped the page of a contract file, eyes narrowed and expression unreadable. Dressed in an expensive navy suit, his scent subdued by suppressants, he was the picture of calm efficiency—Yoon Corporation’s cold and unreachable alpha CEO.
That calm didn’t last.
A knock came, followed by the quiet slide of the door opening. Mr. Lee, his long-serving secretary, stepped inside with an awkward expression on his face.
Jeonghan didn’t even look up. “What is it?”
Mr. Lee hesitated. “Sir, there’s… someone outside. He keeps insisting he needs to speak with you. Says it’s urgent.”
Jeonghan sighed, not bothering to hide his irritation. “I’m busy. Tell them to schedule through proper channels.”
“I tried. But he won’t leave,” Mr. Lee replied, voice tightening. “He keeps saying that you’re the one at.. fault.”
That made Jeonghan pause. He lifted his gaze slowly from the paper, brows beginning to draw together. “At fault?”
Mr. Lee swallowed. “Yes, he… he said you’re responsible for making him… uhm…”
A beat passed. Mr. Lee looked like he wanted the floor to swallow him.
“…Pregnant,” he finally finished in a strained whisper.
The silence in the room turned dense.
Jeonghan’s eyes snapped up fully now, sharp and narrow. A muscle in his jaw ticked, and he slowly leaned back in his chair, file forgotten. “Pregnant?” he echoed, voice like ice.
Mr. Lee nodded once, quickly, adjusting his glasses in nervous habit. “He won’t leave. He’s causing a bit of a scene at reception.”
Of course he is, Jeonghan thought bitterly. He had always known this might happen. Ruts were dangerous. Even for someone as careful as him—no strings, no repeats, no real names—there were risks. But most of the omegas he’d been with were smart enough to keep their mouths shut. They took the money, or the pleasure, or both, and left. None of them had ever dared to storm into his building, of all places.
How shameless.
“Let him in,” Jeonghan said coolly, already tossing the file aside. “Let’s see who finally got the nerve to do this.”
Mr. Lee hesitated, then gave a short nod and left the room.
As the door clicked shut behind him, Jeonghan exhaled sharply and rolled his chair back. His fingers tapped once on the armrest before he reached for a pen, spinning it between his fingers as his mind began to race.
'Who was the last one?'
It had been a month ago, right before a major investor trip to Los Angeles. A dim hotel bar. A pretty face. Big eyes. An omega who smiled with just a touch of mischief and a sway to his hips that Jeonghan hadn’t forgotten.
His brows furrowed further.
He couldn’t remember the name.
Of course not. He never asked. And why would he.
But something in his gut twisted—an unfamiliar, irritating feeling. Like maybe, this time, he should have.
Just as the door handle turned.
The office was dead quiet.
Only the faint hum of the city below drifted through the tall, floor-to-ceiling glass wall that Jeonghan was facing, sitting cross-legged. His hands on the armrest, pen twirling on his fingers long stopped moving, his back straight, posture tense. From this height, everything looked small—cars like ants, people even less. It was comforting in a way.
Detached. Unreachable.
The sharp click of heels on polished floorboards cut through the silence.
Jeonghan didn’t turn. He didn’t want to. The scent that floated in—a warm, sweet, slow-burning trail of heat layered with something a little too enticing to be natural—hit him first. An Omega. Faint, but unmasked. Not hidden behind suppressants like others he’d met.
His eye twitched slightly.
Bold.
He kept staring out the window as the footsteps grew closer. The scent thickened with each step. Then stopped, right in front of his desk.
"Jeonghan!"
Silence.
He gave no reaction. But is surprised by the tone of that omega.
And maybe that have triggered something, because suddenly the omega leaned even more closer.
Both palms pressed down against the sleek wood surface of the desk, followed by the gentle shuffle of the fabric as he leaned forward. The motion caused the oversized silk shirt he wore—white, expensive, nearly translucent—to fall away from his chest, draping forward and exposing the delicate line of his collarbones. A faint sheen of sweat glistened at the hollow of his neck, catching the light. The outline of his nipples faintly visible beneath the gossamer fabric. His tight, cream-colored pants hugged his thighs too well. Too perfectly, sculpting around that high, perky ass with the intention of being noticed.
And then the omega spoke again, with a more sultry voice this time.
“Jeonghan...” he drawled, low and syrupy, drawing out the syllables with a smirk in his voice. “You made me come all the way here, you should at least look at me.”
That voice—too close.
Jeonghan flinched, just the smallest jerk of his shoulders.
He turned.
Slowly.
And now, he was facing him.
The omega stood just across the desk, leaning over it like an offering. Jeonghan’s gaze slid up his body, from the curve of his thighs to the little dip beneath his ribs where the shirt fluttered open just slightly. His skin was porcelain, smooth, a soft contrast to the venom in his voice. And then Jeonghan’s eyes met his.
Big, brown, doe-shaped eyes. Just like the ones from that night.
Jeonghan stared. His expression unreadable. Cold and Observing.
And those deep eyes made the omega gulp.
Jeonghan didn’t move—only kept looking, like he was dissecting the face before him. Like he could peel it back and see the game beneath the pretty mask. And the omega—though dressed in silk and flirtation—visibly tensed under the weight of that gaze.
Then he cleared his throat and straightened slightly. Making his dominance in the wrong place.
“Ahem.” He blinked, quickly, then wet his lips and tried to sound breezy. “I’m here to make a deal.”
A pause.
Jeonghan’s eyes narrowed slightly. A slow breath slid past his lips, and then he leaned forward. Rested his elbows on the desk and brought his hands together beneath his chin, gaze never leaving the omega’s face.
“A deal,” he repeated, voice low, silken—dangerous.
The corners of his lips curled up—not in amusement, but something far darker. He looked like a man who was beginning to enjoy a very slow, very interesting game.
“You came here,” Jeonghan said softly, “looking like that… claiming I got you pregnant… and now you want to make a deal with me?”
He tilted his head.
“Do you always seduce your business partners, mister..?”
"Joshua.."
"Mr. Joshua."
"Yes, and no I'm not here to seduce you..." This time Joshua seems hesitant to say his name again.
".. Jeonghan."
"And I hope you will remember my name too, because you need to-" he was abruptly cut off by the alpha, slamming his palm against that wooden desk- making the contents in it scatter everywhere.
"Don't tell me what I need to do. Understand?" He leans forward, inching his face closer to the omega, who now looked scared.
Finally, knowing your own damn place.
"Uhm, y-yes.." the courage seems to seep in through joshua because of what he said next,
"And you shouldn't talk to the carrier of your child like that." Facing sideways, trying to avoid the eye contact.
Ah. This is intresting now.
"Is that so? How should I talk to the- mother of my child then... Joshua?"
"U-uh, why are you asking me? That's!" Looking flustered from this sudden closeness even though he tried it at first, the omega tried backing away, tripping all over in the process. But jeonghan was quick in his love, already rushing forward wrapping his one hand around the omega's sinful waist. The warm feeling of Joshua's scent enveloping the alpha completely.
"Careful, I can't let you fall- when you're pregnant with my child- because of your foolishness, right?"
He's saying it again and again. The alpha smiles so innocently that Joshua almost forgets what he's here for.
