Outside, it's dark; the sky a deep blue. Melania always liked that colour. Despite her many outrageous fashion statements where she adorned her body with canary yellow, pink lace, pearls and all sorts of bulky gems - she always liked a tranquil blue.
But Melania was inside the train, her view of the blue sky being through a window, obscured with the reflections of passerbys. All too focused on the sky, Melania failed to spot the reflection of a woman, coming into her aisle.
"Hey, you mind if I sit here?"
The blonde turned from the window, none the wiser to the fact she was about to meet someone who would be so important to her. There stood a dark brown haired woman, dressed in a blazer and suit pants. Contrast to Melanias bleached hair and casual outfit. The woman hovered over the seat next to Melania, awaiting her permission.
"Not at all, go ahead." Melania replied and turned to face ahead of her - the back of the seat in front of her becoming of interest suddenly.
Not a few moments later, Melania realised that the train wasn't moving when she glanced outside to see the same landscape.
"Trains not going anywhere, huh..." the woman next to her said. "Malfunction with the tracks maybe."
Melania accidentally let out the biggest sigh at that, "Not good..." She uttered.
This seemed to strike the woman next to hers interest, "You got places to be?"
"Yeah, I'm moving in with my boyfriend in New York. He won't be happy waiting at the station for so long." Melania dreaded seeing his reaction.
"Hm? New York? What a coincidence, I'm also moving there." The lady said. "Not for a boyfriend though, for law school." She said and Melania nodded - she shouldve guessed she was a lawyer by how sophisticated and well presented she was. Before she could respond however, she suddenly got an idea.
"Oh hey, My phone! I can just message him!" Melania got her phone out of her hoodie pocket at lightning speed, shocking the other woman.
"Kids these days and those phones..."
"What! I'm 19!" Melania protested, she didnt take being treated like a kid so seriously, afterall, that's essentially what her family already did.
However, this woman did the opposite of take her seriously as she bursted out into laughter.
"Wh-what is it? Melania struggled to see the humour in the situation.
"Oh nothing! I'm just in total disbelief of how you and me could be the exact same age!"
"What!? You're my age?!"
"Don't act so surprised now." The lady wiped a stray tear from her eye.
"No it's just, you look so put together..."
"Well I am studying to be a lawyer, sweetheart."
Melania nodded and looked down at her joggies, feeling a little insecure at how... unprofessional she looked compared to someone the same age as her.
"Hey, fancy a drink?" The woman took two small bottles of alcohol out her purse.
Melania looked at the bottle and shrugged, unscrewing the lid. "Might as well."
"Here's to two girls that are the same age who are both moving to New York on the same train!" The lady says, clinking their bottles together before taking a graceful sip whilst Melania choked down her gulp and coughed uncomfortably, earning another chuckle from the lady.
" 'Names Kamala." Melania looked at her. Kamala.
"Melania." And as they shook hands, the train began to move again.
