For her entire life, Roxy always got what she wanted. She was a local legend. No one questioned the three-time pageant queen. So when she wanted to have her own coffee shop, the building was opened within a month.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Roxy sighed. Pete, her twin brother, was being a pain once again. "We're only fourteen," he said.
"That never stopped us before," she replied. Pete knew exactly what Roxy meant. The children had been models for as long as they could remember. They only recently got out of their contracts. Roxy didn't want to sit still for too long after that.
The months leading up to the cafe's opening were full of hard work. Roxy worked on menu items while Pete looked for employees. In the end, he failed to do his job. Roxy had to take over for him. Now, she was overwhelmed with the preparation work. Pete sat back and relaxed throughout all of it. It just wasn't fair. Pete always leeched off of his sister's hard work. It was her idea to have a cafe, not his. She even gave him a chance to work here! Why should she continue extending her patience to someone who doesn't deserve it?
Roxy noticed Pete's antsy behavior. "If you don't want to be at the ceremony, you don't have to," she said. Roxy knew that Pete was shy and socially awkward. Without waiting for his reply, Roxy stepped out of the building like a star on center stage.
"Welcome to the grand opening of Coffee and Confections!"
