Chapter Text
Podcast No. 1 of the Karasuno Volleyball Club!
Every two days at 8:00 PM.
Sugawara: Oh, and... we're finally here! This is all so awkward, but I think we can handle it, right?
Co-host: I still don't like this idea...
Co-host #2: Then why did you agree, Daichi?
Sugawara: The thing is...
Daichi: I couldn't say no to Koushi, he looked so happy when he came up with all this.
Awkward silence, followed by a kind chuckle.
Co-host #2: Can we count this as a coming out? You called Suga by his first name, so I think we can.
Daichi: Oh God...
Co-host #2: Ha-ha, I'm listening?
Sugawara: I... didn't expect this, honestly! But thank you, Daichi, I really appreciate it. I thought you agreed just because you had no escape from our kouhais.
Daichi: They're not listening to this, right?
Sugawara: ...Maybe?
Co-host #2: Suga sent the link, I think, to Hinata? Yeah, it was him. I think he forwarded it to Kageyama; they were arguing over at whose place they would listen to us. Oh, and I told Shimizu because she would... well, you know, she would kill us if she found out from someone else.
Daichi: Great, our kouhais know I'm hid— I MEAN, TIRED, VERY TIRED!
Co-host #2: Lying is a sin.
Sugawara: So, this conversation has gone completely off track! We were supposed to discuss our... volleyball game? It turned out to be harder than I thought, but I still can't believe Asahi is so talkative.
Asahi: When I'm not visible, it's easier to talk. I think the effect worked the opposite way with our captain.
A discontented sigh and indistinct whisper are heard.
Sugawara: Um, yeah? I think we can discuss that. So, listeners, if there are any...
Asahi: Well, are we going full-on depressive? You guys used to judge me for that...
Sugawara: That's right! So, Daichi wanted to discuss the upcoming training camp. Amid all the exam stress, I think it would be nice to take a break from it. Besides, we still don't know what to do about the bus.
Daichi: The thing is, Hinata and Kageyama are in the main lineup...
Sugawara: For now.
Asahi: What?
Suga giggles.
Sugawara: Just kidding! Kageyama is a great setter and a good teammate, even if he has a bit of a communication problem. But I think that even adds a unique charm. We're very lucky to have him, and Kitagawa Daichi was also very lucky. Oh, and Hinata, of course! Even though he's new to volleyball, I think he has a bright future, and...
Daichi: Suga's on a roll...
Asahi: I'll bring holy water next time.
Sugawara: I'm not obsessed; I'm just proud!
Daichi and Asahi simultaneously clap loudly on the table.
Asahi: SUGAMAMA IS PROUD...
Daichi: OF HER LITTLE BIRDS!
An annoyed sniff is heard from Suga.
Sugawara: I'm a single mother now.
Daichi: Koushi?
Sugawara: How do I tell the kids that we're left without a father...
Daichi: I'M SO SORRY!
Asahi: This is definitely a confession! Dear listeners, you just found out with me that Suga and Daichi are a couple!
Sugawara: The widow's life is so hard...
Daichi: I'M NOT DEAD!
Asahi's phone receives several notifications.
Asahi: Shimizu says you should apologize to Suga and... kiss him? I don't get it; am I the last to know you're dating? By the way, hi, Kiyoko, hope you weren't listening from the beginning...
Sugawara: I thought you knew for a while!
Daichi: So you're not mad at me anymore?
Sugawara: Listen to Kiyoko.
Daichi removes his headphones, moves closer to Koushi, and kisses him.
Asahi: AHEM, IT'S GETTING STUFFY IN HERE, DON'T YOU THINK?
Sugawara: You're officially forgiven!
Sawamura puts his headphones back on.
Asahi: Finally.
Sugawara: Can we discuss the training camp now?
Daichi: I'd like to, otherwise, this podcast is turning into a discussion of our personal lives. Even if Suga thought of it just as a fun activity...
Sugawara: I'm taking this very seriously! I think we can start taking calls from listeners; after all, we now have an Instagram page, and I've already posted there. To be honest, I don't think these are exactly podcasts, but if we're discussing volleyball and our friends, maybe it fits the theme.
Asahi: So, without volleyball, we wouldn't have as many friends?
Suga gives Asahi a playful smack. Azumane yelps, rubbing the sore spot.
Sugawara: NEGATIVE GOATEE! If we're talking about volleyball friends, it's about time we mention Nekoma!
Daichi: Indeed, I think we're closest to Nekoma and maybe a little to Fukurodani. At least, many know about the Dumpster Battle.
Sugawara: Well, I know you don't like listening to Kuroo's snarky comments.
Asahi: Explaining for the listeners, Kuroo is the captain of the Nekoma volleyball team.
Sugawara: You sometimes get so worked up when you see him.
Daichi: JUST LOOK AT THE TIME!
Sugawara: Are you trying to avoid talking about Kuro—
Daichi: THANKS FOR BEING WITH US, DEAR LISTENERS!
Asahi: Follow our Instagram page, and send your questions to Suga; I'm sure that's all he's waiting for.
Sugawara: I'm starting to think about being a single mother again.
A sad hum is heard in the background.
Sugawara: Well, let's at least say goodbye properly! Thank you for tuning into our first podcast; we promise to be back on Thursday at the same time! And in the next podcast, I think we can answer some calls and respond to a few questions.
Asahi: If there are any...
Sugawara: NEGATIVE GOATEE!
Suga playfully hits Azumane with a chair cushion. Daichi sighs, and after a few yelps, the microphone cuts off.
