Chapter Text

Don’t get him wrong, Pond loves having roommates. He really does. He would be in crippling debt otherwise if not for having them around to split the bills with.

Phuwin wins favorite roommate by default, given, he is Pond’s boyfriend now. He would never admit that to Joong though, having promised him when he and Phuwin started dating that his title as ‘favorite roommate’ would remain intact. He tried to keep things fair, okay? Bro code or whatever Joong calls it, but Joong isn’t the one making Pond’s favorite omelets in the morning, giving him a kiss for ‘good luck’ as he heads out the door for rehearsals, and spooning Pond every night after a long day at the dance studio. Thank god, Pond shudders a bit at the image.

Still, Joong is the best roommate anyone could have, he’s Pond’s partner in crime, and Pond probably would have a hard time staying sane at times if it weren’t for him.

And as much as he gives Fourth a hard time, simply for just being Fourth, he has fun with all the little schemes he comes up with.

He loves living with them. He wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s truly so lucky to live with his dear, dear friends.

At least, that’s what he tries to remind himself as he slips his arm off Phuwin’s shoulder to turn around and glare at Fourth standing in their kitchen after a paper towel roll bounces off his head.

“For once, can you guys please keep your hands to yourself? I’m so tired of all the PDA,”  Fourth grimaces just as Pond turns to scowl at him.

“What PDA? We’re just snuggling,” Phuwin replies, eyes never leaving the TV.

Snuggling. You’re using words like snuggling now?!”

“That’s literally what it is.”

“Don’t lie! I know you. I literally live with you guys. Once Pond puts his arm around you, you’re gonna look up at him with little fucking ‘kissy’ eyes, and then next thing I know you’re going to start making out.”

“I don’t do ‘kissy’ eyes!” Phuwin blurts out, turning to Pond simultaneously for reassurance, “I don’t do ‘kissy’ eyes right?”

Pond smiles sheepishly at Phuwin, leaning in for a quick kiss to answer. Another paper towel roll gets thrown, this time at Phuwin’s head. “STOP! This is exactly what I’m talking about. You’re both all over each other, like, all the time. I don’t want to know that you’re dating, can’t you just pretend to be roommates when you’re in this space? This shared. Sacred. Space.” Fourth huffs as he stomps over to the couch and plops himself down on the opposite end.

Joong quietly shuffles past them on his way to the kitchen, “It’s not like they acted any different when they were just roommates.”

“See, we’re not that bad!” Pond argues.

“I didn’t say that. You forget my bedroom shares a wall with Phuwin. Yes, Pond. It is that bad.” Joong doesn’t even glance at them as he opens the pantry.

Pond has the decency to look apologetic. After they started dating, it was only natural for them to start sleeping in one of their room’s together. More often, their arrangement’s become Pond in Phuwin’s room (he has this special memory foam mattress that’s been doing wonders for his back, okay?) And if Pond’s going to start sharing a room with his boyfriend, his very handsome boyfriend, it’s not like they’re only going to cuddle at night.  They’re young and in their 20’s, so sue them. Still, it’s not like they’re going at it like rabbits. Phuwin says as much out loud, “You make it sound like we’re jumping each others’ bones all the time.”

“You might as well be!” Fourth threatens to launch a throw pillow at them, eyes narrowing at Phuwin, “The other day I walked into the kitchen and saw you both leaning over the counter air smooching each other.”

“I think we’re cute,” Phuwin grumbles, grabbing Pond’s arm to put around himself again.

“In moderation,” Joong says as he walks past them, back to his room, taking back a bowl filled with what seems to be Pond’s favorite chips. He’ll let Joong have them this time, he does sort of deserve them since he does share a wall with them…

“Phuwin you always have to be touching Pond in some way. Can’t even go anywhere anymore without you latching on to him. Come on! Even now!” Fourth points at Phuwin’s hand and both of them look down in unison to see him gripping Pond’s thigh. To be fair, neither of them even realized Phuwin was doing that. Phuwin doesn’t let go, only squeezing Pond’s thigh tighter.

Phuwin rolls his eyes at Fourth. He starts coughing quietly, lingering remnants of the cold he had last week, trying to clear his throat. Pond reaches forward and grabs his water off the table to pass to him without a second thought.

Aww, BABY!!! Thank you!!!” Phuwin does in the most exaggerated voice ever as he squishes Pond’s cheeks down to give him the loudest, obnoxious cheek kiss while staring pointedly at Fourth. And even though Pond knows he’s just trying to get under Fourth’s skin, he can’t help the blush that spreads across his face. He blinks a few times, slightly dazed as he looks at Phuwin. He knows he probably has the goofiest smile, but his boyfriend is the best. Yeah. His boyfriend, Phuwin. He’s never going to be tired of saying that.

However, the moment doesn’t last long as a throw pillow gets smacked into Pond's face at full force, “I don’t know why I even bother,” Fourth complains as he gets up, dashing back to his room before Pond can get his hands on him.

He only manages to get a few curses out before Phuwin buries himself further against his side, holding Pond’s hand slung over his shoulder and Fourth is long forgotten as his mind gets clouded with Phuwin, Phuwin, Phuwin.

And for the first time, he’s starting to wish they lived alone. Finds himself imagining what things could be like if they were alone.

And oh shit. Pond really wants to live alone with Phuwin.

Really wants to come home to him with no interruptions, no needing to share his special crab omelet Phuwin made just for him with Fourth all because he’s been begging for five minutes straight and Phuwin starts to feel bad.

Really wants to snuggle (yes, snuggle! ‘cause he’s guilty of using that word just as much as Phuwin is) his boyfriend in peace without having whatever object Fourth can find near him thrown at his head.

Really wants to be able to look Joong in the eyes again without feeling apologetic for subjecting him to hearing what he’s had to hear through their shared walls at night.

Okay, he’s only somewhat sorry about the last one. Maybe now is the perfect time to bring it up. They’re alone in the living room, the only sounds coming from the TV.

“Phuwin?”

“Yeah?” Phuwin looks up at him, eyes heavy, sleep ready to welcome him soon, but he still has enough energy to smile softly at Pond.

And he can’t help himself, leaning in to peck Phuwin’s nose softly. “Nothing, I love you.” He can wait, he will. He wants to make this special. Phuwin deserves special, more than Pond impulsively asking him here right now.

Phuwin’s eyes flutter shut briefly, faint blush dusting his cheeks, “I love you too.” Pond doesn’t say anything else, smiling softly in return, letting Phuwin rest his head against his shoulder until it’s time for bed.
