KIVAVERSE WORLD OF MEGAMAN
MEGAMAN 1: POWER UP
YEARS AGO
- Two kids meet at school. Both are incredibly intelligent for their age and share their dreams of creating a better world through robotics. Their names are Albert Wily and Thomas Light. The two are often picked on. Light takes it with a smile, but Wily becomes embittered.
- The two would remain long friends and attend college together. However, Wily’s new invention, the Double Gear System, was considered too dangerous and he was expelled for trying to forcefully incorporate it into a machine despite lack of permission. Light begs for another chance, but Albert leaves, saying he can’t stay at a facility that can’t recognize his genius
- Thomas Light graduates and meets his old friend Albert again since the day he was expelled, whom has fallen on hard times. Albert has been doing self-study but can’t get a job due to his credentials. Thomas feels sorry for his own friend and offers to become co-founder of his company.
- The two form Powered-Up!, a robotics firm. Though they don’t get much offers. They are having trouble making profit. Wily suggest they lower their standards and make weapons. Dr. Light doesn’t want that, but Wily says that if the company fails, he’ll never fulfill his dream. And money makes the world go round. Light reluctantly agrees, saying that it only be temporary.
- Light and Wily hence agree to a military contract and create weapons.
- Light meets a musician called Esme Baird. They bond over how they have dreams but they are forced to compromise. Esme’s manager doesn’t allows songs with the messages she wants sometimes, and Thomas about having to design weapons.
- As Light finds happiness with Esme and gets married, Wily feels like a third wheel. Also as they finally make a profit, Lighty is slowly turning away from making weapons and other technology. Wily feels left behind more and more.
- Wily creates a final weapon, the Wily Walker. However, it goes out of control and its chemical weapons are considered too dangerous. The authorities are barely able to stop it and seal it away (as they have no way to safely destroy it). Wily’s reputation takes a blow once more.
- This time Light doesn’t defend Wily as it was, unlike the Double Gear System, dangerous on a large scale. So while he would eventually do so, he scraps all weapon programs prematurely. They have a fallout, in which Wily blames Light always for being a teacher’s pet and a goody two-shoes whom never speaks up against anyone. Light says it is because of him speaking up Wily isn’t arrested. Wily leaves.
- Light renames Powered Up! To Light Labs. He gets married to Esme. They soon would be expecting twins, a boy and a girl. However, tragedy strikes as Esme falls ill, and it ends with her losing her life, and those of her kids. A broken Thomas Light throws himself in his work.
- Light Labs would become one of the most prominent tech companies out there. Dr. Albert Wily returns to Light. He has been unable to provide for himself with his bad reputation. He has heard of the tragedy that struck his old friend and offers his genuine condolences.
- Wily is given a job at Light Labs once more, though outside of the public view and not allowed to make weaponry. Despite Wily’s past actions, it is the only person Thomas feels he has left.
A NEW ERA OF ROBOTICS
- Light develops a new robotics system. Robots that have a degree of sentience, allowing them to make more effective decisions and communicate better. The first two protypes he created are Rock and Roll, whom are human-looking robots whom he made in the image of the children he imagined he and Esme would have. Their musical name inspiration also comes from Esme, as she was a musician.
- Later on he invents the next stage, Robot Masters. Humanoid robots built for specific purposes, for tasks too dangerous for humans to use. He is about to unveil the first new generation of Robot Masters.
- Though despite having helped Dr. Light, Dr. Wily has to keep in the background due to his past misgivings. And despite Dr. Light doing his best for his friend, he has to keep Wily in the background as his company is thriving and he is doing much good for the world and doesn’t want to jeopardize that. Wily feels bitter as a result.
- On the day that Wily wants to unveil the eight robot Masters to the world, Wily steals them, declares he won’t be overshadowed by Dr. Light again and gain the recognition he deserves as a scientist.
- A few days later, the reprogrammed Robot Masters are rampaging through out Mega City and law enforcement is unable to stop them. Dr. Light breaks down on how his life works is used for lethal purposes, something he hoped t never have to see again after he swore off creating weapons.
- Rock asks Dr. Light to turn him into a fighting robot, so that no else has to suffer, and he can try to save his ‘brothers’. Dr. Light is reluctant, but there seems to be no other choice.
- Rock is modified and given a powered armor and a Mega Buster, to become Mega Man. Dr. Light runs a simulation fight against a Proto Eye and see how Mega Man does. After Mega Man defeats the simulated enemy, Dr. Light says he’s ready.
CUT MAN
- Mega Man enters the Lumberyard, where he is to face the first Robot Master Cut Man. A group of soldiers are having trouble dealing with the Robot Masters and pray for a Miracle, just as Mega Man teleports in.
- The two soldiers express fear of Mega Man, believing him to be another one of the Robot Masters, debating on whether or not to attack him, while they overhear him talking to Light on the radio inside his helmet.
- Mega Man sees several smaller worker robots whom have been taken control of by Cut Man. Dr. Light explains the Robot Masters, due to higher intelligence were to guide smaller and less advanced robots during a job like a coordinator. Only Wily is abusing it to take control of them as weapons instead.
- Mega Man confronts Cut Man. He may appear meek, but he is convinced that Dr. Light and Mega Man are turned evil instead of him and fights Mega Man.
- Mega Man is unable to get through to Cut Man and if forced to fight him. Nearly being bisected by Cut Man a few times, he lands a few good shots with his Mega Buster and takes him out.
- Mega Man takes a chip from Cut Man’s remains. Dr. Light says Mega Man has the power to copy the weapon data of the Robot Masters to a lesser degree. It was supposed to be a way to test the abilities of other robots, but Mega Man can use it as a weapon against Wily instead.
- Before Mega Man can recover the remains, Wily activates a teleport beacon that takes what’s left of Cut Man back to his base.
BOMB MAN
- The next one Megaman fight is Bomb Man. Mega Man finds him at a demolition site. He seems to have a party dude persona, but it is not as fun if his idea of a party involves lots of explosives.
- Mega Man can’t get close due the explosives and has to be on the move to stay alive. He cannot get a lot of shots in. Mega Man switches to the Rolling Cutter he copied of Cut Man. He shoots the Rolling Cutter, which cuts his bomb in half and does the same for Bomb Man.
- Mega Man copies the Hyper Bomb but Bomb Man’s body is teleported away. Mega Man sighs and wonder if this will be a pattern. He becomes more saddened by the fact he has to defeat his brothers, take their power and unable to prevent them from being taken.
ICE MAN
- At a facility studying subzero environments, Mega Man would confront Ice Man. Ice Man has a split personality, arguing with himself, as the ‘commander’ and the ‘soldier’.
- Mega Man is trouble having traction on the icy environment, slipping and sliding around the place while Ice Man has no trouble. Mega Man brings out the Hyper Bomb, blowing up the icy layer on the floor, so he can get better traction once again. A final Hyper Bomb takes out Ice Man.
- Though he gets the Ice Slasher and Ice Man’s body is teleported away; Dr. Light says if he can track the teleportation signal back to Wily’s lair, coming one step closer to defeat him. Though he needs a few more samples of the signature so he has to defeat a few more Robot Masters.
FIRE MAN
- Mega Man’s next stop is the Incinerator Plant. He confronts Fire Man, whom thinks himself a hero of justice and Mega Man a villain he has to defeat.
- Fire Man’s Fire Storm proves devastating but with a few well aimed Ice Slashes, helped by Fire Man standing still a few times and leaving himself open to give his ‘justice speech’, Mega Man defeats him
- Mega Man copies the Fire Storm and Fire Man’s body is teleported away. Mega Man is morose and quiet. Dr. Light asks if he’s ok. Mega Man says just take him to the next Robot Master.
OIL MAN
- Mega Man arrives at an oil refinery. Oil Man is waiting for him. He is a robot with a bad sense of humor whom cannot help but make bad puns all the time.
- Mega Man has no patience and uses the Fire Storm right away, and due to his oily nature, he is immediately set ablaze and defeated.
- As Mega Man copies the Oil Slider, Wily is worried about Mega Man’s increased aggression. Mega Man says since talking them down won’t work, he has to stop hesitating. He diverts the subject by asking if Dr. Light has tracked down the signal. Dr. Light says he’s nearly there, he needs two more samples of the signal.
ELEC MAN
- Mega Man’s next stop is the power plan where Elec Man set up base. He meets the electric robot face to face, and he acts just fabulous.
- Mega Man dodges his lightningbolts while Elec Man shows off. Using Oil Man’s weapon, Mega Man creates an oil slick, so that when Elec Man lands in it, he slips. Mega Man looms over it, and is ready to impale Elec Man…But he he hesitates and instead pins him down with the Rolling Cutter to the ground and gently knocks him out. He takes the Elec Beam.
- He arrives back at Light’s lab, Dr. Light traps him in a cage of magnetic waves as he is troubled by Mega Man’s behavior with the last few Robot Masters as he is becoming aggressive. Mega Man lashes out and screams, which scares Roll, whom starts to cry.
- Mega Man breaks down and cries and wonders if he is becoming evil. Wily says it isn’t the case. It is a heavy burden Mega Man has carried, one he may not have been ready for. Mega Man says he shouldn’t, as he the power is too much.
- Light says Rock isn’t evil, he is human…he turned out much more human than Dr. Light anticipated. Unfortunately they have no back up plan without Mega Man. Dr. Light is also feeling guilty as he burdened his son with this, even if he asked for it himself.
- Mega Man says he’ll end it, he’ll stop Wily so the nightmare will be over. To which Dr. Light agrees.
TIME MAN
- Mega Man arrives at the Chronos Institute, a facility which studies the nature of time. Of course Time Man awaits.
- The slightly stuck up and precise Time Man can slow down time, which gives Mega Man problems. No matter what weapon he tries, Time Man slows down time to avoid it. Until Mega Man uses the Elec Beam, the electromagnetic properties running interference. It allows Mega Man to shrug off the Time Slow and defeat him.
GUTS MAN
- Mega Man’s final stop is a construction site where Guts Man awaits. This big jock of a guy is so bulky most of Mega Man’s weapons barely affect it.
- Mega Man uses Time Slow to get close enough to Guts Man to drop a Hyper Bomb, which has the power to finally defeat him. With that Megaman has defeated all the Robot Masters, copied all their powers and Wily is finally tracked down by Dr. Light
WILY FORTRESS
- Light gives Mega Man the Magnet Beam, the final weapon he’ll hopefully need for this mission.
- Mega Man fights through the fortress, avoiding traps and all types of enemies. He also defeats a few powerful enemies like the Yellow Devil and the CWU-01P.
- Mega Man enters a room where he is faced by the previously defeated eight robot masters, rebuilt. Mega Man tries to talk them down once again. And while they would want to, they are programmed to destroy Mega Man. They fight their programming long enough to allow Mega Man to pass.
- Wily uses a device to clone Mega Man, down to his copy weapons. Using the Magnet Beam, Mega Man stays out of the cheap copy’s reach. The Robot Masters burst through the wall and destroy the copy. Due to the fact they destroyed a Mega Man, just not the real one, they were able to fulfill their programming and allow Mega Man to pass through without problem.
- Mega Man faces Dr. Wily in his Wily Machine. Dr. Wily taunts Mega Man with just being a lowly helper robot, he and his sisters are just created to fill in the void left behind by a dead family. Mega Man says that despite all that he defeated everything Wily threw at him, so what does that make Wily?
- Mega Man uses his Copy Weapons to destroy the weapons and ammo of the Wily Machine, then finishes it with the Mega Buster. Wily is defeated and taken into custody.
- Wily laments how he is always in Light’s shadow and how no one recognizes his genius. He blames Light for always taking the spotlight away form him. Light says he gave Wily many chances, never thinking he was bad, just misguided and making mistakes. Wily says he was kept in the background and Light took the glory, Light only took him in to look good. Light says he didn’t mean to make Wily feel that way. Light saw him really as a friend despite his flaws, but if Wily is willing to hurt people to satisfy his ego, Light should no longer consider him that.
- The Robot Masters have been cleared of any of Wily’s reprogramming and Wily-proofed for the future, so they can be assigned to the tasks they were always meant to do, to help people and not terrorize them.
- Rock happily returns to the life a of a helper robot, but the Mega Man armor is kept just in case.

NOTES
- This entry combines aspects of the first four issues of the Archie comics, the original Mega Man video game and the remake Powered Up!
- I also took inspiration of the Mega Man fan film, in particular Dr. Light having a late wife and Rock and Roll created to fill in the void of not having children.
