It was a normal Thursday. I finally returned to my current hotel after a long shift. I moved out of Maya's apartment after a quarrel with her. I thought that a temporary separation would buy some time for our relationship.
Obviously I was wrong. My behavior accelerated the breakup of our marriage. I always knew that Maya loved me, but I underestimated the weight of her love.
After taking a very comfortable bath, I muted my phone and wanted to have a good sleep. When my head was placed on the soft pillow, I was instantly offline. I thought I was not sleepy. I heard someone knocking on the door in a daze. I chose to ignore it because I was tired. I thought it was knocking in the next room, but when I heard my name, I knew I had to get up.
"Carina... Carina... Are you there? I'm Amelia. Open the door quickly. I have something to tell you."
After hearing that the person outside the door was Amelia, I had no choice but to get up and open the door. During this time, I picked up my phone to check the time and found that I had received many calls from different people.
"I'm coming...wait a minute I'm coming" Carina kept mumbling in Italian on the way to the door, and it was obvious that she was unhappy that she was not disturbed while she was sleeping.
"Hi? Amelia, what happened that made you decide to come to me after I accepted a long shift?"
As soon as the door opened, Amelia rushed in, and she took Carina to bed and told Carina to be mentally prepared.
"I need to prepare something?I told you that I definitely don't want to have sex with you." It is well known that Amelia often jokes with Carina mainly to make Maya jealous.
I didn't expect that after saying this, I didn't get Amelia's usual response, but instead I got a very complicated expression. An expression that didn't know how to express, that face didn't want to be happy as usual, but revealed apology and regret. Why did Amelia give me this expression?
"Carina, did you receive the notice?" Amelia asked me carefully.
I asked in a very puzzled tone, "Excuse me, what notification should I receive?"
"It's about Maya, you...didn't you receive any message? She...she went to the emergency room not long ago, and Teddy, Meredith, Link and I just performed surgery on her." Amelia said softly.
"What? What? What did you say, why does she need surgery? Did she start running stupidly again? Why didn't I receive a notification on 19? Is she stable now? Can I go see her...Does she want to see me?" I began to ask Amelia at a loss.
"Carina...Carina calm down a little." Unfortunately, Amelia didn't get a response to Carina's request, so she had to raise her voice.
"Carina stop, I don't understand Italian, please speak English." Seeing that Carina fell into a spiral, Amelia had to hold her, and soon this method worked.
"I'll tell you that Maya is now stable after surgery. She is now under observation in the ICU. She is currently in a medical coma. We intubated her. She was seriously injured. She had severe internal bleeding and we had to remove her spleen. She had an open fracture of her right leg and a dislocated left arm. Link successfully replay her. Her heart function is very good and there is no major impact. The condition of her brain is unknown now. When she was sent to the hospital, she only had a minor head trauma, but she still had 5 stitches on her head. We took a CT scan and did not find any obvious bleeding problems. The specific situation will be known when she is more stable." Amelia said, looking at Carian and found that she was in tears.
"I want to go to the hospital... I... I want to go." I hurriedly picked up my phone and car keys and prepared to go to the hospital.
"Hey Carina, put down your car keys. I won't let you drive now. You can't drive now. I will take you to the hospital. This is why I came." Amelia said and took Carina out of the room and went to the hospital.
