Work Text:

Since you and Alastor had gotten together, he had made it a point to make sure everyone knew that you were his. He didn’t do it in an obvious way, not unless the situation called for it, mainly through holding your hand or having you on his arm, occasionally lacing low-level threats through casual conversation if he felt someone was insulting to you. And when he couldn’t physically be there, for whatever reason, you often found yourself being tailed by his shadow, who didn’t exactly try to keep its presence unknown. You wouldn’t call it possessive, not really. He did it to ensure your safety. Everyone was scared of him, and most understood that he was not to be messed with. That included anyone that belonged to him. And by now, most demons down in Hell acknowledged that you held a certain value to him.

Now you could take care of yourself just fine, and Alastor acknowledged that to a point, considering he had helped to train you in how to use some of your shadow powers, but you didn’t mind having Alastor looking out for you so protectively. Part of you even loved being cared for, and you thought Alastor enjoyed it as well.

Still, like every woman you needed your space from your man sometimes. Just having a day to yourself every once and a while wasn’t too much to ask for.

“Are you certain you don’t want me to accompany you?” Alastor chimed from where he was sitting, watching as you checked yourself over to make sure you had everything.

You chuckled. “I don’t mind your company, Al, but I think I’ll manage without it today. I’m just running a few errands.” You leaned in, fluttering your eyelashes playfully. “I’ll be back before you can miss me.”

Alastor merely hummed, looking a tad bit displeased, though he noticeably perked up just a bit as you leaned in to kiss his cheek. No one was around, so you knew he’d likely be okay with this little display.

“Mmm, very well. Stay safe out there, okay darling?”

“I will. I promise.” You smiled, waving as you headed out the main doors and into the city.

It had been several hours since you had left. Alastor had gone about his usual daily activities, trying to keep himself busy. Thankfully there were a few incidents at the hotel that required his attention, and they were lovely for distractions, but they were minor ones. He didn’t think that there was anything wrong per se, but there was a slight tugging in his gut that made him a bit uneasy. Call it an old instinct, but it was almost assuredly telling him that something was amiss.

“Anyone heard from Y/N?” Angel asked randomly. “I’ve been texting her all day and she hasn’t been answering.”

Charlie looked up from some paperwork she was going over with Alastor, who for his part seemed extremely uninterested. “I haven’t. Maybe she’s busy?”

Angel deadpanned. “Busy enough to not text me back all day? Her best friend?” He shook his head. “Nah, that ain’t it…” He frowned.

Husk looked a bit uneasy, but played it off for now. “She’s fine. She probably just lost track of time.” It had happened before, though notably you were mainly with Alastor in those instances. You tried making it a point to not check your phone in front of him, out of respect to his distaste of modern technology.

While Angel and Husk bickered, Alastor was very quiet, static twisting anxiously around him. If you weren’t answering Angel on that foul piece of technology, then perhaps something was wrong. You were always quick to respond, from what he had noticed. It didn’t seem like you to go silent for hours. Now that feeling from before felt like an intense twisting to his guts, like having eaten bad meat, and he could feel his antlers begin to itch.

His shadow pressed against the nearby wall, grin downturned in response to its master’s inner turmoil. Alastor fixed it with a look.

“Find her. Now.” He ordered, watching as the shadow immediately disappeared to tear through the city for you.

The others looked at him with a bit of concern in their faces, but he remained composed.

For now. Whether that lasted in the near future remained to be seen.

You gasped quietly as you came to, a ringing pain in your ears. A quick urge to stretch proved that your hands were tied behind your back, and you immediately felt the urge to panic. Your head really hurt, and the skin of your forehead felt tight. Like the feeling one got from tugging on a slightly scabbed over wound.

You couldn’t exactly remember what happened… You left the hotel, went through town, stopped at Rosie’s for a quick chat, then… Then what? You walked around a corner… Pain. Pain in your head. Did you get knocked out?

“Well well, look who’s awake.” A scratchy voice echoed from beyond your field of view. Your vision was still blurry, and even squinting you couldn’t bring them into focus. Even your hearing wasn’t up to par. Damn, they must have hit you hard…

“Where… Who… Who are you?” You forced out.

The voice snorted. It sounded high pitched and nasally, masculine. “Doesn’t matter who I am. Or where we are.”

You focused hard on clearing your senses, angling yourself to look up. You could make out a faint outline, but the room was very dark. Actually it was kind of big and echoey. Were you in a warehouse somewhere? You could actually hear other people pattering and slithering about now. Part of a gang, perhaps?

“I think… You better let me go.”

The demon barked out a laugh. “Oh really? And why’s that?”

You fixed him with a look, able to make him out now. Some sort of reptile. A lizard maybe.

“Because when my boyfriend finds out that you’ve taken me, he’s going to come for me. And you won’t survive his rage, trust me.”

“And who is your precious oh-so-powerful boyfriend? Anyone I know?” He sneered, and you wanted to spit at him.

Why did everyone ask that? Seriously, everyone always asked if they knew him, and they were always surprised when they heard you namedrop.

“Oh, you might have heard of him… Alastor. The Radio Demon.”

You took great satisfaction from watching his face fall for a moment, but he composed himself quickly.

“I don’t believe you. Ain’t no way you’re his.”

Clearly he didn’t keep up with the word around Hell. Even though you and Al kept your relationship private and off of social media, most people knew you were a couple by now. He clearly didn’t get the memo, and he was going to wish he did.

You simply shrugged, looking at him plainly. “I am. I guess you’ll find out for sure soon enough… Although, there is one other person you should be worried about confronting.”

Now that you knew what kind of situation you were in, you could feel the shadows jumping at your soul, aching to do your bidding and protect their ‘mistress’ from harm. You weren’t scared, of yourself or the situation you were in. Alastor had helped you practice your powers and learn to control them, after all, so you weren’t afraid of unleashing them.

The demon just looked at you with a disbelieving face, beady eyes focused on you.

“And who would that be?” He asked sardonically.

You chuckled. You opened your eyes to reveal bright glowing white orbs, and your voice sounded like it was accompanied by a cacophony of whispery ghostly voices.

“Me.”

Alastor had progressed to pacing the lobby of the hotel, his patience stretched thin and his expression strained as he thought of everything that could have happened to you. You could be hurt, or worse, and if either was the case then he would undoubtedly be adding more souls to his microphone tonight. That was a promise.

His shadow formed right in front of him, looking as agitated as its owner. It only took a moment for Alastor to see where you were, the condition you were in… Someone HURT you. They TOOK you from him, and they were going to pay for it in blood.

All at once, he disappeared in a flash of shadow, leaving everyone in the hotel lobby confused and concerned.

Alastor reappeared at the warehouse. Not in front of it, inside of it. There was a group of demons of varying kinds gathered nearby, talking and drinking, although they all jumped to attention at Alastor’s arrival. He was hard to miss, since the static that followed him was nearly blaring. His grin was nearly manic, his antlers branching out and eyes flickering between his normal ones and radio dials.

“Excuse me, BuT I beLIeVe yOU haVE SOmEThInG oF MinE. WhEre IS ShE?” His body stretched and contorted, limbs branching out, bones popping and static blaring.

The group of demons panicked, some of them taking off to the exit and others racing for weapons.

Alastor grinned maliciously, launching himself across the warehouse and into the fight. He laughed manically, lashing out and ripping any demon that he came across to shreds, popping off limbs and biting off heads. He ripped his way through everyone… Though he wasn’t the only one. He noticed, even when occupied by his rampage. Lights along the ceiling slowly popped out, drenching the room in more and more darkness. Demons just out of his reach were snagged as if by invisible limbs, being dragged screaming into the darkness before they cut off mid-scream. Others were thrown, throats bitten and slashed to ribbons by shadows racing along the walls, shadows that did not belong to him.

There was one door left in the warehouse, and since the carnage before him didn’t reveal you, Alastor stalked towards it. The door flung open before he could reach it, and a mauled lizard-like demon staggered out. He was missing an eye, the other being clawed over viciously, deep bloody scratches covering his throat and shoulders, and his mouth was bloody. He seemed to freeze upon registering Alastor in front of him, shaking at the sight of the infamous overlord in all his demonic glory.

You stepped into view behind him, and your appearance halted Alastor in his tracks. You had a few scrapes and bruises, a wound over your left temple, all of which angered him… But you looked so powerful. Your eyes glowed bright shining white, black inky shadows crawling over your skin like armor, shadowy tendrils slithering from your back and waving the air. Above you, using you as some sort of perch, is a shadowy demon, not unlike Alastor’s own shadow. Yours was huge, tall and lanky with glowing eyes and a gaping maw, claws braced on your shoulders as it leaned over you.

Your kidnapper spun around, backing up with his hands raised to beg for mercy, but he couldn’t beg. His attempts at speaking were hampered by his bleeding mouth, gurgling as he struggled to speak without a tongue. You slowly tilted your head at him, looking impassive before you narrowed your eyes. The shadow lurched forwards at the same time you reached out, tendrils grappling around his throat as you squeezed with enough strength to possibly pop his head clean off. His one good eye bulged as you tossed him off to the side, watching as the shadow you summoned dragged him screaming into the shadows before it cut off with a sickening crunch.

You took a breath, closing your eyes as your shadows faded away, and when you opened your eyes you were seemingly once again yourself. You even offered Alastor (who had slowly shifted back to his regular form during your display) a shy and bashful smile.

“Hi Al…”

Alastor felt at a loss for words. He had known of your powers, having helped to train you in a few abilities you struggled with, and knew what you were capable of. He simply never imagined you to actually use those powers. You were so sweet and kind, and you hated the idea of killing, and yet here you stood wreaking well-deserved carnage on your captors.

He couldn’t have been more proud.

“Al?” You asked, looking slightly uneasy. He had a strange look on his face.

“Hm? Oh, I… I apologize darling… You caught me off guard.” He stepped closer, delicately cupping your chin as he examined the injuries. “Are you hurt?”

“Not badly, no…” You winced as he brushed over the bruised cut above your temple. “Are you okay?”

“Why would I not be now?” He smiled, though you could see it was still strained. “My beloved doe is back in my arms, and I was present to such a beautiful display of power and carnage. I couldn’t be better.”

You smiled slightly, reaching up to touch his cheek. He paused, though eventually leaned his head against your palm. “I’m sorry I worried you.”

“You… Ah, as long as you’re alright now.” He shook his head, lightly pulling you close in a slight hug. “Come now. Let’s tend to those injuries.” He lightly took your hand, guiding you through the carnage and towards the exit. In light of your various head wounds, perhaps a walk through town would be wiser than teleportation magic.

“I’m fine, Al, really. Maybe I’ll get a good sized goose egg in the morning, but I’ll be okay.” You smiled. “Especially now that you’re here.”

Your words seemed to soothe him slightly, and he genuinely seemed to calm a bit, but you knew he was still on edge. You were too, to a degree, and it was understandable.

The two of you walked in silence for several moments, Alastor keeping you close by the arm as you walked, but you could tell he was thinking about something. And damn you, you were curious. Not to mention talking was a good way to distract your mind right now.

“Is there something on your mind, Al?”

He paused a moment. “Well, there is something on my mind… Other than the obvious.” He hummed, casting a side eye at you with a grin that you swore bordered on a smirk. “I’ve never found a display of power like that so attractive before.”

You nearly tripped over your own feet out of shock, making him chuckle as he tightened his hold on you. “Really?”

“Truly. You looked nothing short of a demonic goddess like that.” He reassured, a bit of a note in his voice that made your spine tingle.

“Well then… I’ll have to keep that in mind.” You murmured thoughtfully, leaning your head against his arm as he escorted you the rest of the way back home.

Notes:

Yall can't convince me otherwise that a display of power from an innocent looking partner wouldn't make Alastor impressed/interested. Especially after he gets comfortable romantically with them.
Hope you liked the little display of power from the Reader.
She's a lot more powerful than previously perceived... And you'll see how much in the future.
