Author’s Note: I have a confession to make, I actually have two favourite pairings involving Raven, and I’m going to explore the second one now, BBRae <3 When it comes to the 2003 series, and nothing to do with the DCAMU they really are the only choice. Opposites attract as they say. I blame a really bad *NSYNC track for inspiring this(if anyone can remember their Celebrity album); it popped up on my iTunes on a drive home from work, and I just couldn’t get over how they said “baby”. I’m sure everyone is familiar with the Justin Timberlake meme that pops up every April “In a couple weeks it’s gonna be…” Just like how they pronounce “me” like “may” they also seem to pronounce “baby” more like “baebae” and it struck me how easily I could turn that into Raven’s nickname “Raerae”… thus this was born XD. Characters aged up to 18+

Warning: Goofy chaos, language, fluff, persuasive Beast Boy, potentially OOC, sexy times, first time…

Tell Me, Tell Me… RaeRae

The sun was shining radiantly down on the bay; the air was calm, and the sounds of Jump city humming smoothly along created an easy background noise. It was a rather average afternoon at Titans Tower; morning training had been completed and since no calls for trouble had come in, the Titans had scattered to be left to their own devices. Raven was in her room reading, Starfire played in the common room with Silkie while Robin went over data gathered from their last battle, and Cyborg was downstairs working on the T-Car. Beast Boy couldn’t be bothered to do anything remotely productive at the moment. He was currently bored out of his mind and flipped through the channels on the TV, desperately trying to find any kind of entertaining media. The young man finally settled on VH1 and a series involving music videos that had random factoid bubbles coming up at various intervals*.

“Shit, I thought they cancelled this series, sweet!” the changeling exclaimed.

He sat cross legged on the couch now, eagerly engrossed and bopping along to the tunes. When the first round of commercials interrupted his jam, it was met with a groan of dismay, but only for a moment. One in particular had him excited and he whipped around to Robin.

“Dude! Wanna have some fun tonight?” he asked eagerly.

Robin looked up and raised an eyebrow. “Depends what your idea of ‘fun’ is B.B.,” he replied.

“They’ve opened up a new karaoke café a couple of blocks away!” the changeling exclaimed pointing wildly to the ad on the TV. “The only other one that’s not a bar in this area is lame as shit, and we have three more years before we can explore any of the good ones; we have to check this one out!”

“Oh, that could prove to be most enjoyable,” Starfire interjected with a smile. “I am with Beast Boy, we have to ‘check this one out,’” she agreed and tried to mimic the human saying.

Robin let out a defeated sigh, before an almost devious grin took over his features. “Fine, if you can convince Cyborg and Raven, we’ll all go.”

Beast Boy made a sound that was between a snort and a laugh and waved the notion off as easy, before he made his way to the elevator to find and harass Cyborg. Luckily the mechanical Titan hadn’t left the garage yet. As Beast Boy entered the room, he was bombarded by the radio jacked as loud as it could go, and Cyborg was singing right along to the song currently blasting from it. The green skinned superhero wasted no time turning it off in an effort to get his friend’s attention.

Cyborg sang a few more off-key lyrics before he took notice of the silence in the room. “Hey, what the hell?” the young man exclaimed.

“You’ve just made my argument so much easier!” Beast Boy beamed. “If you’re in a singing mood I just saw a commercial for a new karaoke café that’s opened up in the city!”

Cyborg just gave him a deadpan stare. “No thanks, the last one we went to completely sucked, I’m not about to subject myself to another one.”

“Aw man, Cy, come ooooon!” he whined. “You can’t say that unless we go there. Besides we’ve been cooped up in this tower for almost a week now, there’s been no calls for trouble and no one seems to want to even go out!”

The larger Titan rolled his eyes at his friend’s protests. No matter how old he got, that childish attitude never seemed to change. It took Cyborg a while of seemingly weighing the pros and cons in his head, and Beast Boy fixing him with pleading eyes almost the entire time, for him to finally nod.

“Alright already, but on one condition,” he regarded Beast Boy deviously. “You have to make it worth my while, and at some point, you have to pick one of the cheesiest songs and make an absolute ass of yourself. Got it?”

Beast Boy just waved him off in an almost arrogant fashion. “Please, I can make even the lamest jam look cool.”

Without another word he turned his friend’s music back on and made his way back to the elevator. The final Titan was also the trickiest Titan, but also the one he wanted there most of all. Raven was arguably the team mate he had the least in common with, and clashed with the most, but she was also the one he was most drawn to.

The empath had been an enigma to most of the team when she had first joined, but regardless of that fact Beast Boy had developed an instant attraction. Over the years as he truly got to know her, he had developed a pretty serious crush on the girl by seeing the person beyond the chilly front she put forth. Raven had grown into a strong woman, someone who was unwilling to give in to the dark side of her powers, and be used as a tool for destruction by her father; she cared deeply for her friends, and would do anything for any one of them. Even Beast Boy.

Throughout their time together as team mates he had become less and less subtle about his feelings for her. For the last couple of years, almost any chance the changeling got, he shot her a flirtatious comment or look, and almost every time he had been met with indifference or disgust. It would be a lie to say that it wasn’t discouraging, but Beast Boy wouldn’t be deterred until he was flat out rejected. She hadn’t done that yet. With that piece of knowledge strengthening his resolve he took a deep breath and knocked on Raven’s door.

It took a moment but the young woman finally opened it a sliver. “What?” she asked, her voice laced with annoyance.

“Well, the team and I were going to head to a new karaoke joint tonight after dinner; it would be great if you came along,” he replied with a nervous chuckle.

“No,” she stated simply.

Beast Boy bravely stuck his hands in the crack of the door to keep her from closing it right away. “C’mon Raven, pleeeeease,” he begged. “I really don’t want to go alone and Robin only agreed to come if I could convince everyone else… so it’s everyone or no one!”

“That’s the best argument you have?” the empath asked, and quirked an eyebrow.

“Well, no. Look, you wouldn’t even have to sing, and I’ll buy you your favourite tea latte,” he rushed out. “I just want to hang and have fun with everyone, feels like we haven’t done that in a while.”

Raven sighed and rolled her eyes. “Two tea lattes, and you don’t get to bug me about any kind of group outing for at least two weeks.”

Beast Boy beamed, “agreed!”

He excitedly rushed back down to the common room to tell Robin that everyone was in. The team each carried on with their individual activities until dinner time and ate a relatively quick meal before piling into the T-Car and heading down the road to the karaoke café.

Beast Boy was happy when he saw the interior, it was set up like a modern bar and was dimly lit with neon accent lighting around the counters and molding on the ceiling. The food and beverage set up didn’t look too bad either with a wide selection of appetizers and large variety of coffees, teas, and mocktails. What stood out too was that in addition to the main section for karaoke, there was also an area reserved in an alcove dedicated for a variety of retro gaming systems and pinball machines. The changeling was ecstatic.

“On first impressions alone, tell me I was wrong!” he exclaimed.

The titans all nodded and murmured words of approval; Raven also seemed to have a ghost of a smile on her face. After the team got a variety of appetizers and drinks, they all settled and waited for an opportunity to head up on stage. A couple of hours were spent belting out modern and retro hits, and Robin and Starfire shared a lovely duet; they had almost exhausted themselves when Cyborg got Beast Boy’s attention.

“I certainly hope you remember our conditions,” he said with a smirk.

“Feh, as if I would forget. I was just saving the best for last,” his green friend replied.

Beast Boy went up and began scrolling through the options until one title popped up that made him grin. As he read the lyrics to be sure of his idea that grin spread wider; this particular song, while obscure, could prove to be useful for double duty. It was a basic *NSYNC song from late in their career, off the last album they ever released, and also a song that hadn’t been released as a single. Once it was selected, he started to sing fairly simply, gesturing to the entire room and adding over-dramatic movements to match the lyrics; everything he knew Cyborg would want. Then the chorus started and he focused all of his attention on one particular Titan.

“… Tell me, tell me RaeRae, how come you don’t wanna love me?
Don’tcha know that I can’t breathe without you…
Tell me, tell me just how, what am I supposed to do right now?
Why can’t you love me? Why-y, tell me my RaeRae…”

The entirety of the group turned their heads in almost slow motion to look at their friend’s reaction. The empath sat stiff, all of her efforts were going towards looking emotionless, but even she couldn’t stop the flush that rose to her cheeks. Beast Boy winked with the last part of the chorus and continued singing most of the lyrics to the room once more, but every time the chorus came up his attentions shifted back to Raven.

“I may be wrong, but that chorus is incorrect at the ends, yes?” Starfire asked hesitantly.

“Yes, you’re right; he’s switching out the way ‘baby’ is supposed to be sung, for Raven’s nick name,” Robin replied. “This could be a very awkward car ride home.”

Cyborg had finally been snapped out of his shocked state and had begun howling with laughter. “Oh man, I don’t care, he’s holding up his payment to me just fine!” the hero announced. “I’m only sorry he decided to rope you into this one, Raven,” and he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye.

“What payment?” Raven asked, irritation dripping from her voice.

“I told Beast Boy that the only way I would come tonight is if he went up there and sang the cheesiest thing on the roster, and make an ass of himself,” Cyborg stated quite matter of fact.

Robin and Starfire continued to watch, and both looked as if the wheels in their heads were turning. “This actually seems fitting then,” Robin finally said.

“Oh, I agree,” Starfire added. “Beast Boy has always had what you humans call a ‘crush’ on Raven. It is perfect.”

“Yup, this is mostly likely one last ditch cry for attention from you Raven,” he finished.

The empath sat through the rest of Beast Boy’s crooning and felt conflicted now by what her friends had said. Of course she had known Beast Boy had a crush on her, even without her empathic powers it was obvious, but she had never entertained any thoughts on the matter. It had already been hard enough to open up to a friend group, developing any kind of romantic feelings was something she never dared risk. She stowed any growing feelings down deep. Even after overcoming her father, Raven had found it hard to change her mind set. However, for as much as the changeling could get on her nerves, he was also the one who made her smile the most; and had what she felt was some of the brightest energy. If this was a last-ditch attempt, would she be throwing away one of her only chances for a romantic experience if she didn’t respond?

The drive back to the tower was as uncomfortable as Robin imagined it would be. Cyborg had made sure that Beast Boy sat in the front with him, but Raven was still giving off tense energy. The entire ride was oddly silent, especially for Beast Boy who seemed to have become mute. When the team arrived, they all fled the car as fast as they could, except for Raven and Beast Boy; the former having gripped the changeling’s arm to hold him in place.

“We need to talk,” she stated softly.

Beast Boy was torn, tempted to shift into some kind of bird and get the hell out of the situation, or finally have the serious conversation that needed to happen. “Yeah, lets go up to my room,” he agreed at last.

Beast Boy closed the door behind him and leaned against it, then gestured for Raven to have a seat in his computer chair. For a long moment the two didn’t say anything to one another. Raven’s frustration had been replaced with confusion, and the green hero still felt oddly mute.

“What was that about back there?” the empath finally asked. “That was… different from your usual playfulness.”

“Yeah, I know,” he stayed uncharacteristically serious. “Look Rae…ven, I’m not all that great with expressing my touchy-feely side. An empath such as yourself should know I hide behind humor. A lot.”

“Yes, I’ve known that about you, but what are you getting at?”

The changeling ran his hands through his hair and shook his head in a frustrated fashion. “It’s not obvious!?” he exclaimed. “I like you! I’ve done everything I can think of to make you aware of that fact short of just grabbing you and kissing you!” Beast Boy stopped now and took a deep breath, trying to come down from the manic excitement that was building. “I know what I did at the karaoke café was stupid, but it served it’s point. It was a lame ass *NSYNC song for Cyborg, but the message for you still, mostly, meant something. I mean no, we weren’t ‘born the same day’ or ‘think the same way’ far from… but we still have what I think is a good time together over all. You also keep me grounded Raven, and keep me realistic; I really appreciate your calm and gentle nature. Raven, if I balance you the same way you balance me, we really could be a perfect match.”

Raven sat in that chair trying to absorb his flurry of words. What was pouring out of him, both verbally and emotionally, was so much more than a simple crush. Everything he was saying was right though, they have a good time together, and he made her smile… Beast Boy was the one she kept her emotional barrier strongest against, because he was the one who made her feel the most. He did balance her out, so maybe it was time to stop being so afraid and tear down the emotional walls…

“Please, don’t quote any more of that lame song’s lyrics at me,” she requested in her usual sarcastic tone. “You’re not helping your case.”

“Fine!” he erupted. “Damn it though just tell me do you, or will you, ever feel something for me more than just a teammate and a friend!”

“I have for a while Beast Boy,” she finally confessed softly. “As someone who was never allowed to feel freely, it was never something I was going to bring up or pursue. Tonight is different though, only because it feels like you’re ready to let go; the care that radiates off you is fading. Maybe I’ve realized that if I don’t do anything about this situation now, then when I did get the courage, it would be too late.”

Beast Boy stared at her with wide eyes before a soft smile took over his features. Slowly he pushed himself away from the door and walked up to her, then helped her to her feet. “Thank you,” he murmured softly. “You know though, you do have the right to call me Garfield.”

“I thought we were having a serious moment; you know I can’t say that name without laughing,” she deadpanned, but there was a humorous twinkle in her eye.

“See? Balance,” he chuckled. With nothing more to be said in the moment he leaned down and claimed her lips in a soft, chaste kiss.

Raven stiffened with the action at first, but as Beast Boy cradled the side of her face and wrapped an arm around her waist she melted into the sensation. It was so tender. Ever so shyly the empath moved her arms around to embrace the young man in turn, holding him to her. Beast Boy pulled back from the kiss first and looked into Raven’s eyes; he smiled sweetly and relished in the fact that he could finally study her features so close now. Her eyes really were the most beautiful shade of indigo, he thought, and her cheeks were also stained the most adorable shade of pink. Unable to resist he leaned down and kissed her once more.

It was a needier sensation and Beast Boy dared to swipe his tongue across her lips, curious to see what he could get. He was surprised when Raven’s mouth slowly opened and he inserted that hot, wet muscle between those soft lips. The empath gasped slightly at the intrusion, but the initial shock soon gave way and she opened her mouth wider to meet the passion that was stirring. The two stood there, holding each other tightly and kept the kiss going as long as they were able before both had to pull away for air.

“Wow…” Beast Boy sighed as he worked to catch his breath.

“Yeah,” Raven agreed with her own breathless chuckle.

The adorable flush that had been across Raven’s cheeks was starting to take up more of her face, and spread down what little Beast Boy could see of her neck. Arousal pricked at his body and as much as it pained him to do so he untangled their arms, and took a step back. Even the confused look she gave him now aided in fanning the flames.

“Rae… if we don’t stop, I’m not going to be able to be a gentleman,” he confessed. “I’ve wanted you for a really long time; so even just this much is really doing something to me.”

“That’s okay,” she admitted softly. “I’ve had to suppress so much, for so long; the passion that’s tangled in our emotions… it’s like euphoria. I may not have experience, but Gar I’m not scared.” Carefully Raven leaned up to kiss his cheek, then gently trailed kisses back to his lips. “I like you Gar, let’s see where we go.”

Beast Boy knew he should protest, knew he should emphasize that this was a bad idea and she might regret it in the future, but his lust was just so overpowering. Maintaining eye contact he guided her back towards his bed; carefully he sat the two of them down, wrapped her in his arms, and kissed her deeply once again. She met him in earnest and this time, did her best to mimic his actions against her tongue, and stroked it with her own while moaning at the excitement of getting into the mood.

When the kiss broke this time the changeling wasted no time working his way down, placing love bites along her neck. Boldly he pushed off the jean jacket she wore and did his best to get more access to her skin; she was accommodating of the action and turned her head to allow him to continue. Raven felt him grin against her neck; she closed her eyes and felt her heart begin to pound. That slow thump cranked up to a race when his hand came up grope her breast over her shirt.

“Ng, Gar…” she stammered.

The grin against her broadened before Beast Boy moved down and sucked on the juncture between her neck and shoulder, while the hand on her breast massaged the plump flesh. Raven began to pant as arousal burned between her legs, when she finally opened her eyes to look at the young man, she could see he was showing similar signs… Gingerly the empath reached out her hand and began to palm the hardening flesh between his thighs.

“Damn it, Rae!” he gasped in surprise, and his actions faltered.

This was it for the changeling, no turning back. He pushed her away almost roughly and stripped her of her t-shirt and sports bra in one fell swoop. His eyes were hungry and wild as he took in her topless form, fixating on her soft round breasts capped off with two hardened rosy nipples. She was as gorgeous as any fantasy he had ever had. Eager for more skin-to-skin contact, and perhaps wanting his own lust clouded gaze he stripped off his own t-shirt before he laid her back onto his bed.

His efforts were rewarded and she swallowed a breath she had been holding as she took him in with lidded eyes. Raven had seen Beast Boy shirtless before, but she had never really taken the chance to look at him. He very clearly took care of himself and each muscle was chiselled and defined, from his biceps to his abdomen. With a prideful chuckle he made eye contact with the young woman and held her stare as he moved down and flicked one of her hardened nipples with his tongue.

Without thinking Raven’s hands shot up and fisted in the hair at the back of his head, holding him in place. Beast Boy wasted no more time lavishing attention on her, alternating between sucking on that hardened piece of flesh and swirling his tongue around it; one of his other hands also made its way up to give some attention to her neglected breast, massaging it under his palm. Raven arched her back up into his touch, relishing in it, but with each swift movement her body grew more tense and she shifted her thighs to try and relieve some of the building pressure down there. Beast Boy took the hint and using his one free hand he trailed ghostly fingers down her abdomen before they deftly undid the button on her jeans and slipped inside.

“G-Garfield!” she called out as a finger teased her clit.

“Hmm, so you can say my name without laughing,” he chuckled. “Do it again,” he commanded, and twitched his index finger on her clit once more.

“Garfield,” she moaned and bucked her hips.

It was like music to his ears and he toyed with her a little more before he took his first two fingers and speared them inside of her, thrusting them in and out as he massaged her clit with his thumb. His ministrations on her chest stopped and he pulled his head away from her grip so he could prop himself up and watch her face. Raven’s eyes were screwed shut and her breathing came out in sharp gasps; and he was doing this, causing her to be in the throes of ecstasy. He was almost painfully hard now and his hand worked faster, doing what it could to bring her to the edge. Finally, her hips bucked up and she came undone, moaning loudly as her orgasm washed over her.

Raven laid there panting and tried to get a hold of herself and her surroundings once more; she honestly could not remember the last time she felt such pleasure. She watched as Beast Boy took his hands from between her legs and brought the two fingers sticky with her essence to his mouth. Without missing a beat, he took those fingers into his mouth, sucked her juices off and gave a low hum of approval. The empath shivered at the sensual display.

Once his fingers had been cleaned off, he hooked his hands into the sides of her pants and pulled them along with her underwear off before he stood and removed the rest of his clothing as well. His chest puffed with pride when her eyes grew wider as she took notice of his size. Gently he moved back to the bed and spread her legs so he could position himself between them. He paused only briefly, waited for any indication that she could need to stop; and when she simply continued to meet him with a warm and longing gaze, he pushed himself into her.

Raven gasped as she felt him enter her slowly; his fingers had been one thing, but now she was being stretched in a way she had never imagined. Beast Boy moaned above her and his dark eyes closed as he took on an expression that almost looked like a mix of concentration and desire. When he was finally inside of her completely, he stopped and leaned down to claim her lips in a kiss, trying to allow her to adjust. She could still vaguely taste her essence on his tongue and she couldn’t explain why, but it stirred new arousal in her.

Raven pulled back from the kiss and wrapped her arms around the changeling’s shoulders. “Garfield, please,” she whispered softly.

That was all the encouragement he needed and he began to move. His pace was slow at first as he did his best not to hurt her. However, Beast Boy had been hard to the point of nearly painful for so long that he was unable to keep a slow rhythm for long. As he sped up and adjusted, he heard Raven call out and felt her arch up to meet his hips. Unable to hold back now he took her harder and faster; it didn’t take long before her grip on him seized and her hips stayed elevated off the bed against his own. As she tightened around him Beast Boy could almost swear he saw stars as his orgasm pumped through him.

“Oh god, RaeRae!” he called out as his body pulsed.

Thoroughly spent he pulled out and collapsed in a heap beside her. He felt boneless right now awash in post-orgasmic bliss. Raven was in the same state, chest heaving as she worked to catch her breath. Despite that the two faced one another and smiled. He curled himself around her, a silent plea for her to stay and keep the moment; Raven didn’t even have to think about it and tucked into his embrace, relaxed and content.

(*) The show Beast Boy was watching is “Pop-up Video”. I watched it in the 90s and 2000s, then it was cancelled and brought back for a year in 2011. I used to love it.

A/N: The ending of this one was an interesting challenge. I don’t usually work with humorous characters in sexual situations, so forgive me if Beast Boy was way too serious through that exchange. Also, I know it was likely very OOC for Raven to go through with it, but I just had to give them the experience. Feedback is appreciated!
