“You can’t take me! I won’t go” Yennefer said defiantly.
Her heart was broken she knew her step-father had no love for her but her mother didn’t even fight for her. Her mother said the woman was a witch, yet was willing to allow her step father to sell her for less than a pig.
Really it shouldn’t have come as a surprise, her mother never stood up to her step-father. Never did anything to protect Yennefer from his rages and distain, as if Yennefer chose to be this burdened with this warped body. But this was surely on another level? Sold for less than a pig.
It was clear Yennefer wasn’t wanted and didn’t belong here, if her mother refused to fight.
Yennefer wouldn’t stay where she wasn’t wanted, if her step father could sell her once he would do it again and mother would do nothing to protect her. But Yennefer refused to go with this woman, this witch. She was no mindless beast to be bought.
The image of the boy came to mind, Istread. He said something about a portal that couldn’t be tracked. If Yennefer managed to do it once surely she could do so again?
Yennefer stared defiantly as the woman turned to look with an arrogant glare, Yennefer glared back. What was it Istread said to open the portal? Gone beneath? No something fancier, more spell like…
“Von naquethe” Yennefer said and watched as startled blue eyes widened.
The pig slop and shit that had covered Yennefer vanished and a swirling distortion yennefer was coming to understand was a portal appeared. Without thought Yennefer ran.
