Sakusa Kiyoomi: a Character Study by His Partners Oikawa, Atsumu, and Iwaizumi

Summary:

The one in which Kiyoomi is a little odd but his partners still love him.

Work Text:

Kiyoomi staying over at Hajime’s more often than not was an adjustment and it had a bit of a learning curve.

There wasn’t enough room in any of the beds for four people, and if Hajime wasn’t worried too much about making one of the others uncomfortable, he would have just bought a much bigger bed. One they could all fit on. But Hajime didn’t want any of them thinking they were moving too fast. So, for now at least, it was two and two and they’d alternate. Or sometimes three and one.

One of the biggest things to get adjusted to though was Kiyoomi’s very thorough nightly routine…he had a whole skin care regimen and everything. Tooru liked to watch, in fact, he found it fascinating. He’d sit on the side of the tub, like he is now, and talk to Kiyoomi as he went through his routine. Rubbing oils and serums and all that jazz into his skin.

“So what does that one do again?” Tooru asks, kicking his heels back and forth into the porcelain bathtub. Kiyoomi is pressing a soaked cotton-ball to his face.

“It’s toner.” Kiyoomi tells him, once more.

“Well. I can’t imagine you mean like, toner for your hair?”

“No.” Kiyoomi tosses the cottonball into a bin beside the sink. “It clears dead cells and moisturizes.” Kiyoomi moves to pick a little bottle with an eyedropper and Tooru stands as he does.

“Can I touch?” He asks, coming up behind Kiyoomi.

Kiyoomi looks at Tooru in the mirror for a moment and then back at his bottle as he’s twisting it open. “Over the clothes.” Then: “You’re getting better at asking.” He notes. Tooru smiles and smiles his arms around Kiyoomi’s waist, hooking his wrist onto his other arm.

“I know, I’m just so thoughtful.” He sighs into Kiyoomi’s shoulder.

“You know,” Kiyoomi starts, looking back at Tooru in the mirror again as he’s rubbing something into his skin. “You have really good skin. It’s just like that naturally?”

“Uhm.” Tooru plants his chin on Kiyoomi’s shoulder, looking at his own face in the mirror. “I guess. I mean, all I do is wash it with body wash in the shower.” He tells him.

Kiyoomi almost doubles over. “I don’t even put hot water on my face in the shower and I still get blemishes from time to time.” He says, melancholic.

“I didn’t choose godhood, godhood chose me.” Tooru chirps, Then: “I’m only kidding. Mh, besides, my hair is more of my thing than my skin.”

“Yeah, I can tell.” Kiyoomi picks up another product. “Don’t look at my hair.” He jokes.

Tooru grunts, “I love your hair. I don’t know how it stays so curly even though I know you wash it every time you shower.” Tooru loosens up from Kiyoomi and he’s asking, “Can I touch your hair?”

“Yeah, you can. But if you make fun of me, I’m gonna elbow you in the ribs.”

“I’m not gonna make fun of you.” Tooru slides his hands into Kiyoomi’s curly black hair, twinging his fingers underneath the silky spirals. Tooru picks one out and curls it around his finger. “It feels surprisingly healthy, actually.” He lets the curl fall from his finger, bouncing back onto his head. “If you got a trim, for those dead ends, and started using a more moisturizing shampoo, your pretty little curls would be much more happy, Kusa.”

“Let’s make a deal.” Kiyoomi sets down the product and turns around, his clothed back touching the sink. “I’ll use a better shampoo as long as you start using an acceptable fash wash.”

Tooru presses his lips together for a second. “Deal.”

“Good.” Kiyoomi turns back around and continues his routine, Tooru slips his hands back around Kiyoomi’s waist, talking to him quietly in his ear.

There’s some other things; some harder things.

Atsumu would join Kiyoomi in the bathroom after he finished his shower so that they could brush their teeth together. Kiyoomi has a bad habit of brushing his teeth for far too long. Brushing them until he can’t taste the toothpaste anymore because the metallic taste of blood flooding from his gums has a stronger taste.

Atsumu spits the last bit of toothpaste from his mouth into his cup and then dumps it down the drain, washing the sink afterwards. After he rinses out his mouth, he turns to Kiyoomi and smiles wide enough to show all his teeth. “Is it good?” He asks after a moment. Kiyoomi stops his ministrations to look at Atsumu’s teeth when he smiles again. Kiyoomi nods yes, toothbrush still sudsing up his own teeth. “Okay, your turn.”

Kiyoomi spits out the toothpaste into his own cup, rinsing it out thoroughly. He has a bottle of water beside the sink from which he takes a swig to rinse it his mouth. HE throws his toothbrush away after he’s done, they’re a one time use kind of thing for him. Kiyoomi opens his mouth to Atsumu, not quite as smiley as the blond was but it works. “Mh,” Atsumu hums, playfully peering back and forth in Kiyoomi’s mouth. “Yup, you’re good.”

And that was that.

One more thing was that Hajime started doing more laundry than he’d ever done in his life. Hajime considered himself to be a relatively cleanly person. HE kept his apartment quite clean, he always wore clean clothes, and as an athletic trainer, he showered like an athlete too.

He was a once a week kind of person when it came to washing bed sheets but once Kiyoomi started staying over more often, he started washing them every night and switching them out for clean sheets from the closet. And there was always a clean blanket for Kiyoomi to sleep with too. (However, at this time in summer, that was pretty trivial seeing as Kiyoomi rarely slept at Hajime’s place. In the summer, Kiyoomi would get up in the middle of the night to take showers and he didn’t want to take anyone at Hajime’s place up when he did so.)

But the thing is, none of them cared about any of this. They didn’t. Because they love Kiyoomi through outerspace, to different universes, and back and Kiyoomi’s quirks was one of the many reasons that they all fell in love with him. It’s part of what makes Kiyoomi Kiyoomi.

And they cherish Kiyoomi.

Every bit of him.

Seriously, they spoil him rotten.

“Are you sure you dont want to come over?” Tooru asks. He’s sitting at Hajime’s home desk with his pajamed knees pulled up to his chest in the chair. Kiyoomi (His phone on facetime with Kiyoomi) sat propped up on the desk in front of him. He was online shopping on the computer before Kiyoomi called him. Atsumu and Hajime were already asleep.

“Yes, Tooru, I’m fine sleeping alone for one night.” Kiyoomi’s repeating again . At this time, Kiyoomi was still doing his skincare and getting ready for bed. Kiyoomi had a tiny fever and is convinced that everyone will get contaminated with it if he stays the night at Hajime’s.  And if everyone gets contaminated it will be even long before he can see them again.

“Okay.” Tooru draws, he’s clicking on the computer again. He looks over at his phone, Kiyoomi’s face displayed across it. He was rubbing some yellow oily stuff into his skin. His black curls were pushed back by a wavy headband, containing them from falling into his face. “You look cute with that headband.” Tooru coos, “It’s very sixties.”

“Thank you.”

“I’m gonna buy you some of those headbands the gurus wear. Y’know like the little bunnies and cats ones.” Tooru leans over his knees and grapples the computer mouse.

“I’d look so silly, don’t do that.”

Tooru looks back at his phone, Kiyoomi is almost done with his skincare routine. Tooru’s favorite part is coming up. When Kiyoomi is done with his routine, the last thing he does is put on chap-stick and it makes Kiyoomi’s lips look super kissable.

Tooru and Kiyoomi have only kissed a few times since they all got together, Atsumu had kissed Kiyoomi more than Tooru has. And Tooru is pretty sure Hajime has kissed Kiyoomi everywhere except his lips because he’s a magician, Tooru guesses.

Tooru’s just thankful that they’re only facetiming and he can’t smell the Pomegranate flavoured chap-stick on him. That would only make him want to kiss him more. “Should I send you a care package?”

“NO.”
