Work Text:
Hongjoo is going a little crazy, if you ask.
It's been several months since she's found a new roommate — a decision made to accommodate the tight budget without Wooyeon, who moved in with her boyfriend—, and at first it was bliss.
First and foremost, Yeosun is quiet like a little mouse. It's not like she hates that Wooyeon has the pipes to shatter every window in the building if she puts her mind to it; it was just a Wooyeon thing, like the arm hugging and the extroversion. But coming back to a quiet apartment after a long, loud night of work, having to deal with no more than an occasional makeshift watering station for Yeosun's beloved plants because she's up with the sun, is something she will never take for granted.
Yeosun is also incredibly resourceful, in that inconspicuous way she does most things in life. She tightened the screws on the wobbly shelf in their living room, got cute sconces for their bathroom vanity when Hongjoo expressed her frustration about finding out she contoured a bit too much with the poor lighting; she even —and Hongjoo feels something catch in her throat when she thinks of it— got her deceased cat's picture framed and hung above a luscious pot of monsteras.
All around, she's the perfect roommate. There's nothing Hongjoo could think to criticize.
Well, no, scratch that. There is one thing that's been driving Kim Hongjoo a little further up a wall than she's a woman to admit:
Kang Yeosun wears next to nothing at home.
She'll waltz in from work, conservative office attire perfectly put even after the worst of shifts, and she'll greet Hongjoo as she's getting ready for her own shift at the bar, then immediately take everything short of her shirt of choice and underwear right there, on the entryway. Then she'll shower, and still forego pants entirely.
At first, Hongjoo genuinely thought she was trying to mess with her (and believe, she was thoroughly messed with), but with time, she noticed Yeosun was just finally comfortable being herself.
Which is why Hongjoo can't bring herself to chastise her for indecency; she's not at fault for being comfortable in her own apartment only because her roommate is gay and bothered. At the core of the matter, she's not doing anything wrong.
Hongjoo, on the other hand…
She just can't seem to get a break from her own mind.
It started with her stupid hello kitty panties. It was funny at first, seeing that cute little face peek underneath pinstripe slacks, but after a while, the fun kind of disappeared.
They're fine, a regular bigger set in pink, yellow, white and blue that she's seen more than she probably has any right to, but unlike lacy, sexy underwear that hugs one's body with minimal pressure, those things just… stick to everything.
She's almost never looking on purpose, for all she complains about seeing things that fuel her dreams to be even more embarrassing. It's just as hard to be close knowing it's a hello kitty panties day, having to engage in cordial conversation while painfully aware of how chubby someone's pubic mound is. It's mortifying.
"Unnie!" Yeosun barrels through the door, a few bags of dirt in her arms. It's Saturday morning, so of course she's out for plant related shenanigans. Another thing Hongjoo likes about her is that she's very dedicated to routine. "Got a new planter for the ficus, but you gotta help bring it upstairs." She grunts, curses, then reaches under her t-shirt to unclip her bra, quickly disappearing down the hall.
Hongjoo hums, sips on her coffee. "Just a planter, huh. That's new." She calls out.
Yeosun pauses.
"Okay, fine , I got carried away and snatched a peace lily too."
Hongjoo places her mug onto the island, stretches both arms above her head. "Oh, cool, the house was kinda needing a plant or two."
"You," Yeosun yells, quick steps resonating when she returns, jeans and t-shirt replaced with bright green booty shorts and a faded pink and white spaghetti strap top. "Are horrible."
"That I am." She grins, ignores the way looking at bare arms hurts nowadays, not even in a sexual way most of the time. Hongjoo just wishes he could touch them —her— without any excuse sometimes.
But that's not the kind of dynamic they have, nor the kind of thing she wants to guilt herself for overindulging in later. "C'mon mother nature, your figus needs a pot."
"Ficus."
She shrugs. "Close enough."
.
There is beauty in living in a modern jungle like this, Hongjoo thinks.
Before Yeosun, that apartment wasn't a bad place to live in, always alive in other ways. With the embodiment of sunshine splitting rent and teaching her the housework Hongjoo's all encompassing obsession with music growing up never allowed her the time to learn, it stopped being a place she had to sleep and watch TV and became a home.
Now, as the traces of the time she's spent living in the same address are out in the open for her to see, she finds that the plants take the status of home and transform it into a sanctuary. A place holier, calmer, where she can actually sit down and read a book without feeling alone. She always teases Yeosun for talking to her plants when she thinks no one's listening, but when Hongjoo is surrounded by them it's like they really are her friends.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Yeosun takes a seat beside her, a bowl of fried rice in hands. They're leftovers from lunch, and if there's something that never fails to make her feel warm is how much her cooking is appreciated. Probably something about being able to provide, or whatever.
She clears her throat. "I like the plants." There's no need to reach out far; she smooths her hand gently over the wide dark leaves beside the couch. They're always shiny and dust free, thanks to Yeosun's diligence. "Feels…"
"Happier?"
Hongjoo looks at her, little pieces of rice stuck to her chin. If she ever leaves, life will never taste this sweet again.
"Something like that."
.
It's a nice, breezy Sunday morning when Hongjoo wakes, the blinds in her bedroom strategically open just enough for the sun to burn her ass awake at a reasonable time. With her work hours, it's not exactly easy to enjoy her weekends, but she makes an effort anyway, if anything to keep Yeosun some company.
She turns to look at the digital clock on her bedside table and gets the scare of her life.
It's a hello kitty panties day.
Hongjoo knows this, because Yeosun is on all fours on her bedroom floor.
"Yeosun-ah," She squeaks, head whipping towards the ceiling so fast it hurts. "What are you doing?"
"Oh, sorry unnie—"
There's a loud thud, a yelp. Hongjoo's body moves before she ever thinks about it.
"What is it, are you hurt?" She rushes to Yeosun, who's now sitting clutching her head. "Did you hit your head?"
She nods.
"C'mere, let me see."
She gently cradles her nape. No blood, that's good. Some redness on the scalp, which- not so good.
"Sorry for waking you." Yeosun pouts, fiddling with the hem of Hongjoo's sleep shirt. "Was trying to check if the little guys needed watering."
Hongjoo hums. "Do they?" Yeosun's blonde, silky shag shakes with her denial. "Okay, let's get some ice."
The grip on her shirt tightens when she moves to get up. "Wait."
"What? Are you dizzy?" Hongjoo holds her face in between her hands. "Look at me. Wanna go to the hospital?"
There's a moment of quiet, Hongjoo's clumsy search for signs of a more serious injury falling steadily into the back of her mind.
Have Yeosun's eyes always been this beautiful?
"You're cute when you're worried, unnie."
It takes everything in her to laugh in disbelief instead of any number of bad decisions. Like kissing a straight girl, for one.
"Scare me like that again and I’ll concuss you myself."
Yeosun laughs that clear gentle laugh of hers, hands coming up to remind Hongjoo that she's still holding onto soft, supple cheeks. She'd let go, if it wasn't for the bigger palms then holding her in place.
"I'm fine I just…" She blinks up like there's something fascinating before her eyes, but that she can't quite understand. "I don't know, I… I don't know."
"Can you get up?" Still healthily concerned, Hongjoo prods. Yeosun nods, and goes easily when she’s hauled to her feet. “Sure you don’t wanna see a doctor?”
“Unnie, I’m fine !” She groans, walking hand in hand on the way to the kitchen. “I just bumped on a shelf, it can’t be that serious.”
Well, as not serious as it might be, the big bump on her head still hurts to think about. Hongjoo hovers close, always making sure she’s not dizzy or has a headache, or needs medical assistance, steadily being brushed off by an amused Yeosun.
She cooks them a brothy lunch, takes the long since warm ice pack while Yeosun lounges on their couch. As she sets the table, she catches those burnt caramel eyes on her again.
It’s right about then that things start to get out of hand.
.
"Truth or dare!" Wooyeon resolutely announces, hand slamming on the coffee table. She's not properly tipsy yet, just a little louder than usual, which is actually a good time to play games without regrets the next day.
"What's the punishment?" Minji asks as they gather into a circle. Hongjoo gives them a look, and gets a shark-like smile. Troublemaker.
"Oh, I know!" San is on his feet in a heartbeat, running to the kitchen. Knowing him, Hongjoo is probably ending the night with a mouthful of wasabi.
And lo and behold, she's right; Minji groans, probably regretting asking about it at all, resting her head on Yeosun's shoulder like she's already got caught lying and chickening out of dares. Jungha smiles secretly from her perch on the couch.
"Alright, alright, let's set some ground rules first!" Seonghwa claps his hands together like a kindergarten teacher. "Nothing illegal, or dangerous!"
"Spoilsport." Yuna mumbles under her breath, head on Yeosun's lap. Minji laughs.
"You can go first then, Yuyu unnie." Jungha calls out and Wooyeon cackles, loud and proud. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Give someone in this room a lap dance."
And oh . Oh no. Hongjoo meets Yeosun's eyes on the other side of the coffee table, and they talk without words. Why did she phrase it like that?! If they know Yuna the way they think they do….
"Sure," She shrugs, moving to get up. She's tall, taller than anyone in the room, and Hongjoo feels as though no one else is as deeply aware of that fact in the way Jungha seems to be. "San-ah, go get Jungha a chair."
It's madness after that; from the absolute regret in Jungha's red face to the hollering and laughing and atrocious truths and dares and wasabi eating (Minji really doesn't learn, do they), the night goes by in the blink of an eye.
Mouth still stinging from refusing to twerk, Hongjoo is picked next.
"Truth or dare, Hongjoo-ah?" Seonghwa asks. For all the church boy attitude, she knows he always has fun amidst the debauchery.
She sighs. "Truth."
"Are you interested in someone at the moment?"
She contemplates lying her way out of it, she really does; it's not like anyone is gonna call her out on it, she's pretty quiet about her love life.
But it could be cathartic to get the comfort without the vulnerability of them knowing who she's talking about.
"Yep." She says before she loses the nerve, gaze pointedly avoiding Yeosun's side of the room. Wooyeon screeches in interest, San drawing in closer to catch the fresh gossip. "She's straight though, so it's not going anywhere."
"A straight girl crush, Kim Hongjoo, really?"
Wooyeon gets a pillow to the head.
"I'm still older than you!"
A soft hand touches her shoulder, then. When she looks to the spot where Yeosun was sitting and finds only Minji and Yuna watching her, she flinches. The hand on her shoulder quickly pulls away.
"I just… sorry to hear that." She quietly says. "Been there, it's not fun."
Hongjoo, completely caught off guard, blurts the single worst question possible.
"You're not straight?"
"What."
For a long, horrible moment, no one says a word. Painful, pin drop silence.
"Oh my god. Oh my god —" They turn to see San's hand over Wooyeon's mouth as she struggles, pointing right at Hongjoo's horrified face.
Oh . Oh no.
"What, why?" Yeosun looks around, possibly met by equally knowing eyes. "Somebody say something!"
"I gotta go." Hongjoo breathes out, legs jelly under her as she stumbles towards the door.
.
One deep breath. Another. Stare at her front door like a coward without the guts to unlock it.
Hongjoo walked home. It was a little pathetic, she admits, definitely not very grown up of her to ignore Yeosun's calls and texts.
She's not sure what's supposed to happen now. If she's been found out, which she suspects she's been, even if Yeosun is actually into women it wouldn't necessarily mean she's interested.
And if she was—
The door opens suddenly, Yeosun's big brown eyes wide as she finds Hongjoo there.
"Oh, thank goodness, you're okay." She pulls Hongjoo into a hug, patting her up as if to make sure she's free of harm. "I was gonna go looking for you.
It's not their first hug, they've been around each other every single day for almost a year now, but still it feels like it. Weak, Hongjoo leans in to bury her head into a warm neck, arms tight around her shoulders.
"I'm sorry." She whispers.
"No, no sorries." Yeosun shushes. "Nothing to be sorry about. You go get some rest, okay? We can talk later."
"Okay." She nods. "Okay, thank you."
.
They end up not talking about it.
Hongjoo knows she knows, that lingering look can't mean anything but utter understanding, but hell if she has the guts to ask about it.
They just… step back into their old roles, which now feel like a costume, an old shirt that's a little too tight in certain places. Sometimes something will challenge their forced normalcy, tension building but unable to break in any satisfying way because she knows nothing about Yeosun's intentions. Hongjoo could jump her thinking it's want like hers and realize too late it's all just caution, or curiosity.
The one thing that remains, a strangely relieving reminder Yeosun is still somewhat comfortable living together, is the state of almost undress.
It still fucks with her, of course, but at least now it's something to hang onto. No one would walk around in their underwear if they thought their roommate was a creep.
Hongjoo also mulls a lot about what she looks like to Yeosun.
Does she find her attractive, then? Has her sweaty after work look ruined her image long ago? Is she just being polite to a close friend who isn't her type?
She doesn't know . And she could, if she just turned her head forty five degrees to the left and fucking asked instead of dying in daydreams.
"So you're gonna say something or do I have to do it myself?"
The mouth spewing contradictions inside her head snaps shut, panic swelling cold.
"I don't." She clears her throat. "I don't know where to even start. Sorry."
It's the first time Hongjoo sees Yeosun look genuinely annoyed since they've met, eyebrows furrowed and a tiny, almost imperceptible curl to her lip. It's terrifying.
It's a little hot.
She walks over —the realization that it's hello kitty panties day arriving much too late—, plops down on her lap. Legs on each side, just like that. Hongjoo swallows.
"Do it."
"What."
She's so close. Oh god, oh fuck.
"Touch me, kiss me, I don't know, just do something before we both die from pining."
Kim Hongjoo unravels right there, on her couch, when her hands land on Yeosun's bare waist, just below her crop top. Warm, she's so warm and soft, flesh giving under the gentlest touch.
"I think I've liked you for a while." She breathes out, a woman bewitched, thumbs at the height of her ribs. "I've wanted you for fucking forever, though."
Everything seems to slow down, their time sticky like molasses. Yeosun smells of jasmine, that she's known; but there's a quality of scent that is entirely hers when close enough. Impossible to articulate, terribly addictive.
"I didn't get it at first, you know." Her fingers brush away Hongjoo's dark bangs. She feels her everywhere. "That we could— yeah . But then it hit me."
"I thought-"
"That I was straight, yeah." Yeosun giggles.
"But you're not."
"Nope."
She looks up at those caramel eyes, trying to find the answer before ever asking. "And you're okay with fucking me."
" Unnie ," And then she's closer, breath hot by Hongjoo's mouth. The tone is artificially offended, because she smiles while she speaks. Hongjoo never pegged Yeosun for a tease at times like this, but it makes so much sense. "I'm even wearing the panties you like."
All blood rushes out from her head at once. Jesus fucking christ.
There's no replying to that. With a hiss and a hand in her hair, Hongjoo kisses Yeosun with blind hunger, free hand slipping down to her thighs. Thick, taut muscle meets her palm and if Hongjoo could sing, she'd be humming in happiness for the rest of her days.
When she reaches the band of the panties —pink this time, a classic — her horny mouth runs on its own.
"Wanted it for so long it might as well be mine now." She whispers against Yeosun's lips, pulling the fabric up to hear her moan from the pressure. "You even wrapped it up for me, baby."
Yeosun gasps, head falling to Hongjoo's shoulder. "Fuck."
"Oh, Sun-ah ." She reaches between her legs, runs two fingers over the soft fabric. It's hot and damp, and Yeosun whines softly as she chases the touch, hips bucking. "Gonna ruin you for everyone else."
Yeosun hums, long and content. "Yeah?" Her hands cup at her chest, nipples visible through the fabric of her top before it's pushed up to her collarbones. " Ah . C'mon then, unnie."
And oh , what a sight. Hongjoo's mouth is on them right away, licking and sucking and holding them in her mouth when she finally shoves a hand inside the soaked panties. It's the sweetest kind of heaven to have Kang Yeosun like this.
When she moves to get off the couch, Hongjoo is confused. She hums a question when Yeosun pulls her to her feet. Absentmindedly, she pulls her slicked fingers to her mouth, catches how those pretty brown eyes darken.
And then Yeosun is on her, rough, grabbing at her ass and pulling her up by the backs of the thighs.
Fuck . Holy shit. That's so hot.
She grunts. "Don't wanna fuck on the couch." Like that explains carrying Hongjoo into her room like some kind of strong goddess of lust. There's probably a mess and a half in her own underwear now.
"You're so fucking hot, oh my god." Hongjoo just short of kisses the words into her mouth, arms thrown over her shoulders. Embarrassingly, she moans when Yeosun adjusts her hold, bouncing her body once. It doesn't seem to matter at this point.
They don't take long to get to Yeosun's room, Hongjoo falling onto the mattress with a soft noise and immediately being surrounded by jasmine and Yeosun goodness. She should definitely come here more often.
Her own band t-shirt is off as soon as she can get a grip on it, along with her sweats and underwear.
As Yeosun moves to pull down her own, Hongjoo stops her.
"Keep it on."
She laughs, full of breath.
"You really like these, don't you?"
Kneeling at the foot of the bed, she kisses her softly, pushing her top up and off.
"Can you blame me?"
A giggle. Yeosun climbs onto the bed, lies down in all her glory. "To be determined."
Hongjoo crawls up to her, hands smoothing over her thighs. "Wanna do something real bad to you."
"Ooh, I like 'em bad." She whispers, mischief incarnate. "Real bad."
Slowly, Hongjoo lowers the panties, stopping at the knees. With reverence, she thumbs at the fat, aroused clit, but as good as it feels to touch and it sounds to hear it's not where she wants to go. Yeosun only seems to realize what she's planning to do when Hongjoo presses her legs closed and towards her chest.
"Unnie, unnie, fuck ," She cries at the first long flick of her tongue. Hongjoo laps in between her labia with the gusto only dreaming of something can provide, buries her face in good cunt like she can get drunk on it. "So good, ah —yeah, please! "
And for all her talk about ruining Yeosun to everyone else, nothing compares to having her grinding onto her mouth and tongue, crying and shaking and struggling to hold her own legs up. It's the best she's ever had; Hongjoo can't get enough of it.
When she cums, trembling and pulsating and calling Hongjoo's name, the feeling so intense she needs to be pulled closer by the hips, it's like all those months of wanting were worth it. She wipes at her mouth with the back of her hand, finally ridding Yeosun from the panties still caught on her knees.
"Good?" She asks, hands rubbing at her milky thighs like she's none the wiser to the shuddering breaths and occasional twitch.
"You're horrible ." Yeosun grunts, making her laugh. "C'mere."
They kiss, and Yeosun probably tastes herself on Hongjoo's tongue, and the —very, very sexy— thought reminds her she's still really horny, grinding onto a pretty, toned thigh for some relief.
"Fuck my face." Yeosun huffs against her mouth, and it's such a sudden request Hongjoo isn't sure she's actually hears it at all. She bucks her hips at the very thought. "I… I can do some stuff with my tongue."
So she did hear her right.
"Pretty girl's got a filthy mouth, mhm?" She pokes, almost choking on a moan when Yeosun pulls her by the ass, tensing her thigh.
"Shut me up, then."
A menace hiding in hello kitty panties, that's what she is.
Hongjoo gets up after a long peck, legs unsteady as she positions herself. She's not quite sure this is happening at all; for all she knows, she might just jump awake mid orgasm in her own room again.
Hot hands on her hips bring her back to reality. Yeosun guides her down just shy of covering her pretty button nose. It rubs against her clit when Yeosun nuzzles into her cunt, and she relaxes into it with a sigh.
Yeosun taps her ass to get Hongjoo moving, and she's hesitant at first, not wanting to hurt her, but pretty quickly realizes that's not an issue. She rides that pretty, eager face, letting her tongue do things inside her she's never quite experienced before.
"Yes, yes just like that, baby, fuck ." Strong hands grab at the meat of her asscheeks, groping her so thoroughly she feels her orgasm start to build up. "So good, don't stop, feel so good baby— ah ,"
When two fingers rub at her rim, she cums hard enough she folds, crying her orgasm into a jasmine scented pillow as she's eased through it.
Carefully climbing off Yeosun's face, Hongjoo flops onto her side, the need to be as close as possible bringing her to rest her face in the crook of Yeosun's neck. Sweet as ever, Yeosun brings a hand up to run through her hair, soothing as Hongjoo catches her breath.
"Why are you perfect." Her tone is flat as she presses a kiss to her neck. Yeosun laughs, turning to face her. "You okay, love?"
"Fuck," She hisses, burying her face into a pillow. "I really like the petnames."
Hongjoo hums. "Just the petnames?"
" Unnie… " She whines, but cuddles closer, eyelids starting to droop. "So mean. I like everything with you."
Hongjoo pulls the duvet over their bodies, presses a kiss to her forehead. "I like everything with you too, pretty."
.
"Unnie."
"What is it."
"We fucked in front of the microgreens."
"Go back to sleep, Yeosun-ah."
