Chapter Text
It was a Monday and everyone in the Tennis club was already doing warm-ups.
Among the regulars, there was the usual banter of rivalry between Kaidoh and Momo and the chuckles and laughter of Taka-san, Kikumaru, and Fuji.
They were doing stretches, Fuji partnered up with Tezuka and was currently helping the captain stretch his back and arms when something caught his eye.
"Tezuka," Fuji started, tone curious.
"Hn?" Tezuka responded.
"There's a man in a tuxedo by the gates with a bouquet of flowers," Fuji pointed out as he straightened up and helped Tezuka to his feet.
Tezuka adjusted his glasses as he walked over to the mystery man.
Fuji watched from his spot and saw that the man bowed and handed the flowers to Tezuka before moving away.
"Tezuka got flowers?" Fuji asked with a grin, teasing.
Tezuka frowned as he walked back to the group. "Not me. You," he said as he handed the flowers-- lilies, to Fuji.
"Me?" Fuji asked as he took the bouquet and examined it. "Someone's done their research. I love lilies," he said before finding a card.
Flipping open the envelope, he pulled out the card and read the note.
"I know these are your favorites. I hope it brightens up the rest of your week. -A.K."
"A.K.?" Fuji asked in confusion before looking at the entrance where the man delivering the flowers stood earlier. He then paused in realization.
"Atobe Keigo?!"
Wednesday came and the usual club activities continued. As they were doing their warm-ups, the same man who delivered the lilies was again at the club gates, this time holding a small box.
Fuji, curious now about this as the last one was for him, motioned for Tezuka to stay where he is as he approached the man.
"Ah, Fuji-sama," the man said with a smile. "This is a gift from the young master."
"Young master? So it is Atobe," Fuji said as he was handed the box.
Again there was a note on it and he carefully peeled it off and read it.
" A bar for every kilometer we are apart. -A.K"
"Bar?" Fuji asked as he undid the ribbon of the box and opened it to reveal several bars of Butterfinger Chocolates.
"How did he even know that I like these?"
"The young master is very observant and insightful," The man said. "I will be on my way," he told Fuji as he bowed and headed off to the parking area.
"Fuji, nya, is that from Atobe again?" Kikumaru asked as he skipped over.
"Yes, he seems to have paid attention to the things I like," Fuji answered as he closed the box again.
"Is he courting you?" Kikumaru wondered. "Because it looks like he's courting you."
"Honestly, Eiji. I have no idea."
Friday came around and nothing came during club time. Fuji wondered if that was the end of it.
Apparently not, he discovered.
At the end of their club activities, there was Atobe Keigo by the gates, holding a bouquet of white roses.
"Fuji." he called out once the other came out of the building.
"AAAAAH, IT'S ATOBE FROM HYOUTEI!!!" Momo exclaimed.
"Momo, hush," Fuji said before smiling and walking up to the Hyoutei student. "Hello, Atobe."
"None of my gifts were returned. so I assumed I could proceed," Atobe said as he handed the flowers over to Fuji who gratefully accepted them.
"You could say that," Fuji said before chuckling.
"What do you say to dinner?" Atobe invited. "A date, mayhaps?"
Fuji pretended to think about it before nodding. "Alright, where did you have in mind?"
Atobe smiled as he moved over to the car right behind him and opened the back door. "Sushi?" he offered.
"I'd like that," Fuji said as he walked towards Atobe and got in the car.
Atobe smirked as he held the door open. He glanced back at the gates where the rest of the regulars were watching all of this unfold.
Locking eyes with Tezuka, Atobe's smirk grew.
Tezuka frowned.
Atobe then got into the car and closed the door behind him.
