Work Text:

The sheets rustled slightly, stirring Link from his sleep. He had been a light sleeper since his intense training in the Knights Academy, which he was currently thankful for. Before he opened his eyes, his hand drifted forward on the sheets in hopes of feeling his wife's smooth, warm scales and pulling them against his own bare body. While he didn’t feel her there, he did feel the residual warmth in the spot where she once laid. His eyes slowly opened, wanting to investigate the case of the body missing from his bed.

It took a minute for his eyes to adjust, but once they had, he saw a sight truly worth beholding. His beloved wife was standing in the open archway leading to their balcony, the full moon in the sky illuminating her divine, curvaceous figure. She looked ethereal bathed in the moonlight, as well as the faint aqua glow of the luminous stones shining in the Domain below them. He wiped the sleep from his eyes so he could fully appreciate this moment, appreciate her in this moment.

The lack of any adornments on her tonight – every single scale on display for him and only him to love and worship, as if each of them were a patron deity with a religion harboring a unique story. He would spend his life getting to know each and every single one, providing offerings of unfettered love and adoration – to one day prove he is worthy of beholding their divine grace.

The shape of her figure – as if she was chiseled out of the softest marble by Hylia herself to fit perfectly against his body when they lay beside each other. As if when Hylia was making her, she searched his mind for his perceived definition of perfection, and by the goddesses, she nailed it in every way. The moonglow outlined her shapely curves, blanketing her deep crimson canvas in its gentle whites, forming new and exciting colours to add to her already strikingly diverse palette.

His eyes trailed downwards towards her plump backside, he smirked and nodded slightly.

'That, too.'

So as to avoid disturbing her or ruining this moment, he deployed his otherworldly stealth to grab the Sheikah Slate from the nightstand on his side of the bed. With a couple silent taps, the camera function opened up for him. He allowed the lens to focus once he aimed the view at her, and his breath caught in his throat once it did. To see her in his own eyes was a blessing he hardly felt worthy of in and of itself, but knowing that he has the chance to immortalize this exact moment, this exact feeling, and see it whenever he wanted – it filled his heart with a rush of explosive gratitude in every beat.

‘Mine… All mine.’

Click!

The sudden, yet familiar noise of the camera caused Mipha to look over her shoulder to where her shirtless husband laid. Her heart fluttered, knowing that he would take those pictures with him on his excursions, so she is always with him.

Click!

“Perfect,” Link whispered. She smiled, the moonlight causing her eyes to shine in ways that only the most precious gems polished by master-class Gerudo artisans can reflect. She nodded sideways to the balcony, wordlessly asking him to join her. Setting the Sheikah Slate back on the nightstand, he grabbed the oversized green Hebra-silk blanket that Revali had gifted them at their wedding.

A pain in the ass? Definitely. An excellent gifter? Doubly so.

He made his way around the bed to join her, shuffling along the cool Domain tiles. Mipha's glowing gaze followed him in his short remaining steps before they were sharing body heat once more. His hands started on her arms, drifting inward to her sides and making sure to tease the delicate scales of her shoulder fins and triceps along the way. She shivered at his delicate touch, feeling his hands snake down to her hips and intertwining his fingers with her own. She nuzzled her head back into his shoulder, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of his skin against her bare scales.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” She asked quietly, her eyes opening to gaze upon the bright orb in the sky. Link did not reply, which prompted her to adjust herself so she could look back up to him. He was not looking into the sky nor the city, no, his heavy lidded gaze was on her , and her alone. He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers softly, lingering there for a seemingly sempiternal moment. The heat of the moment was so delicate, yet there was such a heavy passion burning between their lips. Her hand reached up and gently grazed his scalp with her claws.  Once he pulled back, her eyes fluttered open to see his deep ceruleans staring back. Her breath caught at the love so apparent in his eyes, it even felt like their kiss had never ended at all. He took in her loving gaze for a silent moment, then finally replied:

“Yes.”

Notes:

Day 2!! This fic completely changed shape overnight -- quite literally. The original work was only about 240 words, felt super barren and lacking any substance whatsoever. I suppose procrastination is a great motivator! I hope you enjoyed, nonetheless, and thank you for reading!
