Chapter Text
Edward Nashton hummed at his computer, leaning back in his chair, elbows on his desk. Edward was dressed in green shorts and a car seat headrest shirt. He didn't have to hide up his damaged thighs now that he resided on the high school campus. Edward was listening to a podcast about murder and scrolling through 4chan forums while wearing typical black headphones over his greasy brown hair and clear glasses when his phone pinged.
He reached for his phone and grabbed it up. He opened his phone and scrolled through the messages he'd received. "Saaaph Gotham Highschool!" read the message from the Gotham Highschool group chat. “We're holding a really lit party at Bruce Wayne's place on Friday!! Be there, guys, and women, of course." He recognized the sender of the cringe-worthy message. One of those foolish, jock popular boys who regularly organized parties and brought alcohol despite the fact that everyone was underage. Edward was confused as to how they had gotten the booze.
He brushed aside the text, not giving it any thought. He didn't want to go—he never attended events like that. It was usually foolish, and it made him anxious in front of a lot of people. He didnt wanna see Bruce Wayne either. He used to be his best friend, until they got into a fight.
The last time he went to a party, he puked, had an anxiety attack, and locked himself in some random person's bathroom. That wasn't good—he didn't want to think about it.
A new notification chimed. Edward's gaze was drawn to the top of his phone's screen. "Hey, Eddie! Are you planning on going 2 the party on Friday? If that's the case, I hope to see you there!" It was sent by Selina. Selina wasn't Edwards' friend, and he presumed she'd sent the text to everyone and just changed the names, but Selina was Bruce Wayne's ex. Edward didn't believe Bruce Wayne would feel comfortable with one of his ex-girlfriends around. So why was Selina going?
He decided to not respond.
