Chapter Text
They’ve been together for a pretty long time. Especially compared to other couples in this generation, people tend to change partners as if they were changing underwear. Were people really that disposable?
Taehyung and Seokjin have been together ever since freshman year of college, despite majoring in different courses, they managed to cross paths since they had a number of mutual friends. It was instant attraction, love at first sight even. After going on a couple of dates, they decided to solidify their relationship by going exclusive.
Now fast forward to 5 years later, they were both now proud owners of a cozy, little apartment located in the heart of Gangnam. It was a two bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with a balcony located right beside their living area, and it was perfect.
Taehyung was in charge of decorating the apartment and he went for a more minimalistic approach. The decors all had one thing in common: they were different shades of brown. Whether it was dark brown, chocolate brown, nude or khaki, they had to be brown.
“They all have to be in this specific color wheel so that they’ll look good in contrast to our boring, plain white walls.”
Taehyung explained as he was picking out the perfect couch that would match the rest of the decorations. Seokjin just nodded along throughout the entire rigorous process and ultimately let Taehyung have complete reign and freedom to decorate it however he pleases. One, Seokjin didn’t want to get into fights regarding furniture or whatever the fuck shade of brown Taehyung wanted, it simply wasn’t worth arguing over. And two, Seokjin couldn't say no to Taehyung, even if he tried. He was whipped. Utterly whipped. He would pluck the stars down from the sky if Taehyung told him that he wanted to garnish their bedroom with stars from the night sky.
(Well, not really. Realistically speaking, Seokjin would probably buy Taehyung a dozen packs of glow in the dark stars just to make him happy.)
Seokjin pursued a career in the culinary track, his hard work paid off and he took a gamble and invested all of his savings and turned it into a modest bistro called Moon. The bistro garnered a lot of attention and earned a hefty number of followers thru various social media endorsements. Moon was the restaurant to try, especially popular among the younger crowd. It was hip, decorated in pastel which wasn’t too overwhelming to be called tacky, and the food was divine. It was what kept reeling people in and making them visit the bistro for another taste. Needless to say, Moon was Seokjin’s baby. His pride and joy.
Heck, he invested all of his savings in it, he was determined to make it the greatest bistro possible. His specialties were Jeyuk Bokkeum or spicy stir fry pork, a recipe which he had to beg his grandmother to teach him until she eventually had enough of his whining and gave in to her grandson’s request and Budae Jjigae or Army stew, a recipe which he could make from scratch with his eyes closed due to the fact that he lived off this recipe during his college years. Seokjin spent countless hours trying out recipes with various garnishes until he was finally satisfied with a number of dishes which he deemed good enough to be added in the menu.
He co-owned Moon with his best friend, Namjoon who was in charge of managing the place and speaking to the guests. And let’s be honest, Seokjin would rather burn alive than have Namjoon step foot inside the kitchen to help prep the orders, he would rather sacrifice himself than risk Namjoon burning down the entire place.
He loved Namjoon, but not enough to trust him in the kitchen area. Other than that, he would entrust his life with Namjoon, that’s how strong their friendship was.
Taehyung got a job as a part-time barista at a local coffee shop, while doing art on the side. After graduating, he tried to apply to a number of prestigious art galleries but wasn’t satisfied and was determined to find the one. Not wanting to impose on Seokjin and help out with the expenses, he settled for a part-time job for the meantime, constantly promising Seokjin that once he finds the one, he’ll carry his load when it comes to all the expenses and utility bills, In which Seokjin keeps reassuring him that it’s okay and there is no need to rush.
Seokjin’s always been that kind of boyfriend, the ultimate support system, someone you can rely on. He has never pressured Taehyung into doing anything he wasn’t comfortable with and that included accepting jobs if his heart wasn’t in it. He willingly offered to pay for the down payment needed to acquire the apartment, to which Taehyung strongly protested against, but in the end Seokjin talked his way out of it and Taehyung eventually agreed, but not without constantly reassuring Seokjin that he would pay him back when he accepts a job with a high paying offer, Seokjin just offers Taehyung a smile in return.
It wasn’t that Taehyung was picky, per se, he just didn’t feel the need to waste his time nor energy and pour it into a job that didn’t feel right for him. Taehyung was always the type who follows where his heart leads him rather than calculating his decisions. A heart over mind type of person, one who prioritizes his feelings above everything else. As a partner, Taehyung was consistently the more expressive one, in terms of love language or physical affection.
Who made the first move?
Taehyung.
Who initiated the first kiss?
Taehyung. (Although Taehyung would strongly protest and claim that it was Seokjin.)
Who insinuated that they should finally have sex?
Taehyung.
Taehyung was never the type who would shy away from whatever it is that he wanted, he knew what he wanted, and when he did, he went out of his way to get what he wanted. Seokjin perpetually admired that attribute about Taehyung. He was the Yin to his Yang. While Taehyung was the more outgoing one, easily making friends with whoever he came across, Seokjin was more of the reserved type, wanting to watch things unfold from the sidelines rather than being in the spotlight.
They were an unusual couple, as Jimin would repeatedly say.
They were so unusual that they meshed so well, Hoseok would always follow up this little reminder whenever Jimin mentioned how odd their tandem worked. They were so alike yet so different at the same time.
Like every other couple in this world, they have experienced their fair share of petty fights and misunderstandings, but never had a fight that lasted more than a day.
“Fights should be fixed before going to bed. Never go to sleep when things still aren’t okay.”
This was a saying that Taehyung repeatedly said after each fight. Fighting shouldn’t be brought over to the next day and the day after that, because if you can’t resolve your misunderstandings within a day, it’ll just snowball until you both exhaust yourselves with meaningless issues and ultimately decide to give up. Both of them made it a point to resolve their conflicts before the day ended, it was a silent agreement between the couple.
Until one day, no one bothered to keep that silent reminder in mind and soon enough days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Both of them have been suppressing in so many issues that neither of them bothered to voice out.
It’s been exactly 2 months and 6 days since things were any semblance of ‘normal’ between them. No one knows where their heated argument rooted from nor which situations led to this, but things have been exceedingly different between the two of them and it was taking a toll on the both of them. Heated arguments, hurtful words were thrown around along with embossed screams, physical intimacy was nowhere to be found. Everything was a stark contrast to how they usually were.
Clingy, you could never find one without the other. Gone was the couple who could be in the loudest party ever, yet you would still spot them in a corner of the room, whispering sweet nothings to each other, unfazed by their surroundings.
All that’s left now is the ghost of how they used to be.
Their shared apartment used to be so loud that neighbors would sometimes knock on their door to ask them to tone it down a bit to which they would laugh about afterwards. Laughter and lewd moans once filled their cozy apartment, now all that’s left is the eerie silence that consumes them.
No more back hugs from Taehyung whenever Seokjin was too engrossed with cooking to be bothered to put on a shirt, no more tickling and running around the living area trying to dodge various objects, no more making love until the sun was slightly peaking from the bedroom curtains, no more romantic candle-lit dinners surrounded by rose petals in the balcony, no more laughter.
It was all gone.
One day, Seokjin came home from work, visibly agitated, judging by the scowl on his face when he slammed the front door shut. The impact startled Taehyung who was busy working on his newly bought canvas, making him paint an unwanted line into the center of his artwork.
Taehyung was into creating diverse images of objects that looked like little faces with his signature trademark: nosebleeds. Each one of these assorted faces had nosebleeds in them. Normally, Taehyung would laugh at the blunder he caused or maybe even brush it off saying ‘meh, still passable as art. It adds more flavor to the piece.’, but things were different now. Things were anything but normal now.
“Shit. Shit. Shit. Look at what you made me do! I’ve spent three hours working on this and now it’s ruined!”
Taehyung said with a ferocity to his voice, turning his head to shoot daggers with his eyes.
Raising his eyebrows, feigning ignorance,
“What did I do? I’m not the one holding a brush. How is this my fault when I just got home?”
Taehyung gave out an unimpressed stare. He was clearly not pleased with Seokjin’s response.
“Yeah, I’m the one holding the brush, but if you didn’t slam the fucking door so damn hard maybe I wouldn’t have jumped in my seat. Like, can’t you enter the apartment like a normal person? Is that so hard to do?”
The way Taehyung answered with so much extraneous sass, pissed off Seokjin to no end. Him cursing didn’t help out either. This only added more fuel to an already annoyed Seokjin.
“Look, I don’t have the energy nor the desire to get into another fight with you. Today has already been one shithole after the next, I don’t need you to complicate things further. My migraine has been killing me..”
Taehyung dropped his mouth open at that remark and couldn’t help but interrupt Seokjin in the middle of his sentence,
“Do you think that I enjoy wasting time picking fights with you? That I have way too much time on my hands therefore I’m picking fights with you as a newfound hobby of mine? And what’s there to complicate exactly? You ruined my artwork.”
This was no longer the Taehyung that Seokjin knew. The old Taehyung would’ve dropped everything in an instant to comfort his boyfriend and rush to the nearest pharmacy to purchase pain killers for his headache. But Taehyung hasn’t been Taehyung in a while, the same way Seokjin hasn’t been Seokjin in a while either.
Seokjin firmly gripped his fist to his cellphone, forgetting that he’s been holding it since he entered the apartment. He was beyond pissed at this point and the tension in the room was so thick, you could practically feel it. If Seokjin was holding on to a flimsy phone, it would have broken into half by now with the way he was tightly squeezing it. His knuckles were turning white. Instead of taking deep breaths to calm himself and settle things like a rational adult, he felt like retaliating instead.
“What the fuck are you even going on about, Tae? I wasn’t implying anything. You’re letting your insecure side get the better of you again. Can we just drop this? I’m really not in the mood to argue.”
Taehyung let out a sarcastic chuckle.
“That’s the problem, hyung. You’re never in the mood for anything anymore. Nothing. Nada. All you do is work, work, work.”
Seokjin took long, hurried strides closer to where Taehyung was seated and looked him in the eye,
“Yeah. That’s what I do, because SOMEONE has to pay the bills.”
The statement made Taehyung flinch. That was a low blow. His boyfriend was well-aware of how insecure Taehyung had been ever since Seokjin started shouldering most of the expenses, including the loan he had to take out in order to purchase the apartment for them. Taehyung threw his brush to the floor, leaving splattered paint marks on the carpet.
“There it is. You finally fucking said it. You really think that I sit on my ass all day, looking pretty? In case you weren’t aware, I’ve been sending in resumes since last month looking for a more stable job with a higher pay to help you with the fucking bills. But you’re too busy doing God knows what to notice or even ask!”
Seokjin immediately regretted his choice of words. He knew it was a sore subject for Taehyung, one he never dared to mention up until now. But he was running on pure adrenaline right now and his pride would not allow him to falter. Swallowing thickly, he still head his chin up high, allowing his pride to take over.
“What are you insinuating right now? That I’m doing something else besides working? Are you fucking serious , Tae??”
Taehyung rolled his eyes. A gesture he knew would surely agitate Seokjin and rile him up even further.
“I don’t know. You tell me. Well, it’s not like you tell me anything these days anyway.”
Picking up his keys from the side table, he turned his back to Taehyung, hurriedly making his way back to the front door of the apartment.
“You know what, you can think of whatever negative thoughts if that’s what helps you sleep at night. I can’t believe you would think that I’m doing anything other than making a living for us. FOR US, TAEHYUNG! Fuck this, I’m out of here. I came home to get away from stress, but it looks like I came home to even more stress.”
“Where are you going? We’re not done talking here.”
Taehyung roared out. His voice was getting strained from all the shouting they were doing.
“Somewhere where I can fucking be alone, Taehyung.”
Seokjin looked back at Taehyung, pure fury in his eyes.
“If you walk out of here right now, don’t bother coming back."
This was Taehyung’s final attempt to stand firm in the face of his lover. He was so damn tired of all the constant bickering.
“You know what? Fine. Have a wonderful evening, Tae.”
With those words, dripping with sarcasm, Seokjin turned around, put on his shoes, headed out the front door and slammed it shut. The slam of the door echoed inside the empty apartnent. Leaving a stunned Taehyung in it’s wake. Eyes never leaving the front door.
“He really did it. He really fucking left me.”
He uttered to himself, still in disbelief that Seokjin literally walked out on him. He didn’t even bother to spare a glance back, he just walked straight out of that door. Taehyung dropped to his knees, cradling himself, in an attempt to make himself smaller. He couldn’t believe what just transpired.
What happened to us?
With shaky hands, he fished out his phone from his pocket and dialed the only person he could run to. He quickly typed in Jimin’s number and held the phone close to his ear.
Ring, ring, ring.
Jimin picked up after the third ring.
“Hello? Tae? What’s up?”
The dam broke loose once he heard the familiar voice on the other side of the line. He sobbed for a few minutes unable to form any coherent sentences which worried Jimin, but he patiently waited for Taehyung to calm down and explain things.
“Jiminie, He left. He left me.”
That was all Jimin needed to hear and he was soon running down the stairs, into the street to hail the first cab he saw.
Soon, frantic knocking could be heard from the front door. Taehyung was too distraught to make himself look presentable, he knew he looked like a mess but he didn’t care anymore. His insides were already a mess, it wouldn’t matter if his appearance looked the same.
As soon as the front door opened, Jimin enveloped his best friend into a tight embrace. He knew that Taehyung couldn’t start talking until he calmed down so he patiently waited. Whispering reassuring words to him while running the palm of his hand up and down Taehyung’s back.
After what seemed like hours, Jimin sensed that Taehyung was now calm enough to speak. They sat down on the giant sofa, his hand still not leaving Taehyung’s back.
“I’m here now, Taetae. Tell me what happened? Where’s Seokjin hyung?”
Taehyung could feel more tears threatening to spill out once again upon hearing Seokjin’s name but he held it in, also, he didn’t think he could produce any more tears. He took a deep breath and started talking. Recollecting the events that recently transpired as well as how things have changed so much within two months time. Jimin looked lost after hearing what his best friend had to say. He had no idea that their relationship has been undergoing difficulties since they’ve always been such an easygoing couple. Never getting into any serious arguments. If he couldn’t recognize the couple that they’ve become, he could only imagine the pain both of them were going through.
“Tae, have you and hyung ever sat down and seriously talked about your issues? Because from what I’m hearing it’s like a whole bunch of petty issues that could easily be discussed but the both of you made no initial move to actually fix things.”
Taehyung sighed. He knew his best friend was right, but how could they easily put their pride aside when they were both already in too deep? Too many detrimental words thrown around when things got bad.
Things seemed beyond repairable at the moment.
“Where do I even begin to fix things when I don’t even know where things went wrong in the first place?”
Jimin offered a sad yet encouraging smile to somehow soothe his best friend’s worries.
“If there’s any couple that can manage to get out of this mess and rekindle things, it would be you and Jin hyung. I would bet my life on it.”
The atmosphere was somber and the future was looking bleak, Taehyung rubbed his eyes, letting his tired eyes rest for a moment.
Ding dong.
Namjoon placed his cup of coffee down on the mahogany table, next to stacks and stacks of paper. It was his third cup for today, he needed caffeine to function properly as he was going through an endless amount of paperwork.
“Honey, are you going to get the door or should I?”
Hoseok wailed from the kitchen, busy preparing ingredients for dinner. Carefully slicing and dicing the vegetables, then setting them aside in a colorful yellow bowl.
“I’ll get it. I need a break from reading anyway, and my legs are killing me.”
Namjoon replied. He picked up his cup of coffee and settled it on top of the dining table, far away from important documents which could possibly get drenched in coffee if he were to accidentally knock it over.
He was visibly surprised to see Seokjin standing on the opposite side of the door.
“Hyung? Did you need something for work? I already sent you the documents regarding the expansion of Moon and the business permits which need your signature..”
He stopped midsentence when he saw the state Seokjin was in. He was a good looking guy, probably even the most handsome one he’s seen, this was already a given, but the Seokjin standing before him now looked like he was brutally dragged to hell and dragged back to earth in the same dreadful manner. He looked worse for wear, definitely not a phrase that one would associate with the likes of Kim Seokjin.
“Hyung, what happened? Why do you look like your soul just left your body?”
Seokjin let out a strangled sob which Hoseok heard from the kitchen, he immediately stopped chopping his vegetables and ran to the front door where Namjoon and Seokjin where standing. Being the more physically affectionate one between the two, Hoseok took Seokjin in his arms and guided him towards the couch. No one spoke a word for minutes. The only sounds that could be heard from their shared apartment were Seokjin’s grating sobs and low whimpers.
Namjoon took the liberty of grabbing a glass of ice, cold water and handed it over to Seokjin, trying to avoid eye contact given the awkward situation. Seokjin took the glass and gave Namjoon his thanks, trying his best to offer a weak smile which could probably fool someone if they didn’t know Seokjin, but the couple has known Seokjin since college, he couldn’t fool them even if he tried. After regulating his breathing and ensuring himself that he would stop crying, Seokjin spoke,
“I know you’re probably wondering why I’m here sobbing like a crazy man. And I’m really sorry to impose..”
“Shush. None of that. You’re not imposing in any way. Our home is your home, you know that.”
Hoseok cut him off. Seokjin gave him a dull smile in return. It was the best that he could do given his current state.
“So, long story short. I walked out on Taehyung. I’m not quite sure if I just walked out of our apartment or out of his life. I’m terrified to find out.”
Namjoon held his breath at the statement. Exchanging silent looks with his partner, encouraging Hoseok to speak up since that was his area of expertise. While Namjoon was the intellectual, a living encyclopedia, Hoseok was better with dealing with emotions and matters of the heart. Hoseok understood the silent looks Namjoon was sending his way and spoke up,
“Hyung, tell me all about it. Don’t leave out a single detail. We’ll figure this out. We always do.”
With that, Seokjin began telling the couple all of the pointless arguments they’ve been having, ones that they both know they could have resolved immediately if only they properly discussed them. But one little fight led to another, and another, and another. Until it was all too much. Someone or even worse, both of them were already about to explode. The atmosphere around them has gotten to a point wherein getting angry and lashing out became the new normal. This wasn’t them. This was so far from the normal they were accustomed to.
Hoseok listened attentively and concluded that neither one of them could be held solely responsible for what happened to their relationship, it was a joint effort that took part in turning their relationship into the destruction zone it’s become, and they were going to need to fix things together if they still wanted to work things out. It takes two to tango, after all.
Hoseok took a deep breath as he paced himself to ask his hyung something that could possibly offend him if he took it the wrong way, but he was determined to know.
“Seokjin hyung, I hope you don’t misinterpret my quesrion but do you still love Tae? Like after everything’s that happened, do you still feel the same?”
The question asked could easily be misinterpreted and twisted into many different directions, but Seokjin knew that his friends always had his best interests at heart. They were looking out for him in their own subtle ways.
“Of course I do, Seokie. We could get into a million fights, and I would still feel the same. Things just have been..difficult.”
Namjoon broke his silence by asking,
“Then do you love him enough to overlook everything, push your pride aside and just, you know, talk to one another? Communication is key to everything. Actually, during the war that occurred back in 1939..”
Hoseok widened his eyes at the direction their conversation was headed.
“Joonie, does this bit of information have anything to do with relationships or communication?”
“There was a rumor before that played a pivotal role regarding the overtaking of..”
Hoseok sighed but had a fond look on his face as he gently said,
“You know how much I love you and that sexy brain of yours, and I appreciate how you tried, but let me handle the relationship advice, hmm?”
Namjoon blushed and abruptly stood up.
“Um, I’ll just get.. snacks. Yeah, snacks. Don’t worry, I won’t be cooking or microwaving anything.”
Heading into the kitchen, making his way out of the living area to give Hoseok and Seokjin some privacy. Hoseok smiled as he watched his boyfriend move across the room.
God, he had to much love for that man.
He then turned to face Seokjin placing his hands on top of Seokjin’s.
“Let me pick up where we left off. You have to talk to him, hyung. Really talk to him. Tell him whatever’s on your mind, be open. Just like how you used to be. It doesn’t have to be right this minute, heck, it doesn’t even have to be today. Take some time off to cool your head, and when you’re in a better headspace, go back and talk to him. You’re more than welcome to stay here. Mi casa es su casa.”
Seokjin wrapped his arms around Hoseok and gave him a tight hug. He was eternally grateful for his friends and he wished the he could repay them back someday.
“Thanks, Seokie. I mean it. You and Joonie have been there for me and Tae for years. And if you’re absolutely, 100% sure that I’m not imposing..”
Hoseok’s wide smile faded quickly and was replaced by his scary death glare that even Namjoon doesn’t enjoy being on the receiving end of.
“Hyung, I love you and you’re older than me but if you don’t stop worrying about imposing on us, I’m really going to smack you on the head.”
Seokjin chuckled and said his expressed his gratitude once again. But Seokjin had a confession to make.
“Seok, I have to tell you something. But you promise you can’t tell a single soul.. besides Joon. Because obviously you’re going to tell him even if I tell you not to.”
Hoseok smirked at the remark because his hyung was right. Namjoon would find out with minutes. Seconds, even, if given the opportunity.
“See. I know that smile. Hit the nail on the head, huh? Anyway, so, you’ve probably been wondering where this all started right? Like the miscommunication and everything. It was because I was so stressed.”
“Because of work?”
Hoseok asked.
“Well, yeah, work’s part of it. But also because I was preparing the perfect proposal for Tae.”
To say that Hoseok was dumbfounded is the understatement of the year. The man was stunned beyond relief. After a few seconds, he started hitting Seokjin’s arm,
“You!!! I can’t believe you, hyung!!! You were going to propose but you didn’t inform any of us??? Are we really even friends??”
Seokjin rolled his eyes at that. He was always so dramatic.
“I was!!! Calm the fuck down. I was, believe me. But then this whole proposal thing really fucked with me, and I couldn’t manage my time anymore, I was busy juggling the restaurant and making preparations that I forgot the most important thing: who I was doing it all for.”
That sent a pang straight into Hobi’s heart. He felt that. He felt how disappointed his friend was with himself for letting things escalate this far. Hoseok suddenly called Namjoon to come back to the living area,
“Joonie baby, hyung is going to stay here for tonight, or maybe even for a few days. I need to prepare the guest room, change the sheets, prepare the towels and so on. So you’re in charge of getting hyung’s clothes back in apartment, okay?”
Namjoon nodded along.
“Um.. also, I didn’t meant to eavesdrop, okay wait, maybe I did. But anyway, the point is, I heard everything. What if Tae starts asking me questions when I drop by to get your stuff?”
Hoseok turned his head so quickly to face Namjoon, Seokjin thought it would snap, squinted his eyes and said,
“I swear to God, Joon. You stay silent. Hush, hush. You don’t know anything. Not even hyung’s whereabouts. I’ve got a plan and that plan requires absolute silence on your end, got it? Do. Not. Say. A. Word.”
Hoseok’s piercing glare sent shivers down Namjoon’s spine as he nodded, praying to whatever God there is out there to help him not slip up and face his boyfriend’s wrath.
Jimin left the apartment an hour ago to pick up items for his cheer-up-taetae-pack which included ice cream, sheet masks, the cheesiest romcom movies and so on, promising that he would be back in an hour. So when Taehyung opened the front door expecting to see his best friend, he was surprised to find Namjoon standing there instead.
“Uh, hey there Tae.”
He said with a shy smile, putting his dimples on full display.
“Hey Joonie hyung. Um, Seokjin hyung isn’t here at the moment..”
Namjoon panicked. Scared that Taehyung would ask him questions related to Seokjin and that he might say something that he wasn’t supposed to so he interrupted Taehyung,
“Oh. Haha. I know. Um, do you mind if I go into your bedroom to grab a few things? It won’t take long, I promise.”
He asked as he kept his gaze on the floor, as if he suddenly found the flooring to be an object of immense interest. Taehyung cocked his head to the side, confused by his friend’s demeanor and how he suddenly looked nervous? But he decided to brush it off. He was too tired to overanalyze every little detail at this point. Before Taehyung could respond, Namjoon sprinted past him and headed to the direction of the bedroom. Leaving Taehyung pondering if he should ask Namjoon if he knew anything about Seokjin or where the fuck he ran off to, but before he knew it Namjoon stepped out of the bedroom carrying a large duffle bag, filled to the brim.
“I’ll be on my way now. Thanks, Tae. And hey, take care of yourself okay? See you around.”
Namjoon hurriedly said, then proceeded to practically dash out the door, leaving a bewildered Taehyung behind wondering what the fuck just happened.
Just when Taehyung was about to close the door, Jimin came by carrying bags which most likely contained his cheer-up-taetae-pack, with his boyfriend Jungkook following closely behind.
“Hiii. Came back as quickly as I could. Namjoon hyung just ran past us like a madman, he just screamed ‘hi, bye, gotta go’ while carrying a huge duffle bag.”
Jungkook had his eyes wide open, like he was still processing what just happened, but then remembered where he was and gave Taehyung a huge smile and a hug. Taehyung reciprocated the hug,
“I also don’t know what just happened. He basically entered our apartment and left with that huge bag in tow without saying anything else. I couldn’t even ask him about Seokjin hyung since he just ran right past me, mumbling inaudible words. Maybe he was drunk?”
Jimin and Jungkook looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders, then stepped into the apartment carrying their plastic bags. Taehyung closed the door, once inside he suddenly stopped in his tracks, stared at the floor and let out a squeal saying,
“Oh my God you guys. What if he’s cheating on me???”
The shrill sound of Taehyung’s voice startled the two and they accidentally dropped a few of their bags on the wooden floor. Jimin gave an annoyed look, exhaling rather loudly as if to remind himself to think before he speaks,
“Taetae, I know you’re hurting right now. But don’t be a dummy. The world would end before Seokjin hyung ever cheats on you.”
“But what if..”
“Taetae, no.”
“I mean, we’ll never know. Maybe all those late nights were spent..”
“Tae, no.”
“Was it because we stopped being intimate? Oh God, what if..”
Jimin let out a high pitch scream before screaming,
“Kim Taehyung, I said no!”
Which quickly shut the latter up. Jungkook was squirming in his seat, afraid to look towards his boyfriend’s direction.
“Uh, we brought ice cream. Yay?”
When no one responded to him, we quietly fumbled with the remote, setting up the movie instead. It was going to be a loooong night for the trio.
The front door swung open which signaled Namjoon’s return, to his surprise he found Yoongi in the kitchen.
“I see you’ve called reinforcements. Hi Yoongi hyung.”
Letting out a pout and an annoyed huff, Hoseok exclaimed,
“Joonie baby, can you believe that Seokjin hyung asked for help with his proposal from Yoongi?? Like, he could’ve chosen any one of us but he decided to pick the most unromantic person on the face of the planet.”
To which Yoongi turned to his direction and shot him a glare. Exhausted, Seokjin turned to his friend to calm him down,
“Listen, I asked Yoongi for help because out of everyone from our friend group, he’s the only one that could keep his mouth shut regarding the details. Or regarding anything, actually. Don’t deny it.”
“Well, duh. Because who would he tell???”
Hoseok replied.
“Hoseok, this isn’t even about you. Quit being so dramatic. Here, eat something. It might help you loosen up.”
Yoongi said while offering a plate filled with delicious looking galbi.
Seokjin’s been drinking glass after glass, because if he couldn’t drown himself, he might as well drown his sorrows with the help of soju. The four friends spent the night talking about random things, trying to distract Seokjin from his problems, which worked.. until it didn’t.
3 a.m. rolled around, Yoongi headed home hours ago, grumbling about how he keeps on wasting his time with friends when he could be cuddling at home with his dog, the couple was fast asleep. Hoseok having the lowest alcohol tolerance ever, got wasted even before Seokjin did, despite having the initial head start, so Namjoon had no choice but to carry Hoseok back to their bedroom and tuck him in before he started crying about not being chosen to help out with the proposal or before he decided that tonight was a perfect night to dance in the middle of the room. You never knew what to expect with Hoseok, life was exciting with him, and Namjoon loved that about him.
3 a.m., Seokjin was drunk. But not drunk enough to forget. He rolled over to grab his phone from his bag and his charger until he realized that Namjoon forgot to pack his charger and his phone was dead. Sighing to himself, his mind wandered to Taehyung.
He has never spent the night away from Taehyung without letting the other know about his whereabouts and what time he would be home.
I wonder if he cares that I didn’t come home tonight. Seokjin, you dumbass. Why did you walk out of that door when Taehyung warned you? What if he doesn’t want me back anymore? What if he thinks that when I left, I left for good? What if I lose him?
Running his fingers through his hair, giving them a light tug out of frustration, he closed his eyes. He was beyond exhausted, both physically and emotionally.
Soon, sleep found it’s way to him.
At 10 a.m. the sounds of banging against the door could be heard. Hoseok had one eye open as he opened the door to find a visibly fuming Jimin behind it.
“WHERE. THE. FUCK. IS. HE???”
Well, that certainly woke Hoseok up, as well as the entire apartment complex but he’ll deal with his angry neighbors another time.
“Good morning, Jimin. What’s up..”
“Don’t good morning me. Where is Seokjin hyung? If he didn’t spend the night here, that gives me another reason to skin him alive when I find him.”
Angry Jimin was a scary Jimin. Don’t let his cuteness fool you, even Yoongi wouldn’t dare to challenge an angry Jimin. His enraged tone sent shudders to Hoseok’s body.
“Calm down, Min. He’s in the guestroom. Also, where else would he be? Don’t tell me you think he ch..”
“No. Fuck no. But if Taehyung was right about his crazy theories last night, then I’ll really skin Seokjin hyung alive.”
Jimin waltzed in the apartment, no longer feeling the need to wait until he was invited inside, ignored Namjoon’s confused look and slammed open the door to the guest bedroom. Seokjin sat up and woke up instantly with a perplexed look on his face, clearly having no idea about what was going on, his hangover being of no help either. Before Seokjin could even open his mouth to speak, Jimin paced through the room until he was standing in front of Seokjin, towering over him with a murderous glare in his eyes.
“No. You don’t get to speak yet, hyung. I am furious with you. Did you know that Taetae hasn’t slept a wink because he was waiting for you to come home or at least fucking text him or something?? Of course you didn’t know since you never bothered to even text him since you left. What are you doing, hyung? Are you really going to throw away all those years?”
“Minnie, let me explain..”
“No. You do not get to call me Minnie right now. I’m so mad at you, hyung. I’m this close to strangling you right now.”
As Namjoon was peaking through the door, he sighed as Seokjin was trying to explain things to Jimin, but the latter was simply not giving him a chance to do so.
This went on for quite a while.
Namjoon had enough and blurted out,
“Jimin, he was going to propose.”
As soon as Jimin heard those words, his mouth automatically closed, as he looked at his hyung with tears in his eyes.
“Oh my God, hyung. Why didn’t you tell me???”
“I was trying to but you wouldn’t let me.”
Seokjin replied. The boom in Hoseok’s voice was loud enough to grab everyone’s attention as he walked into the room,
“Okay, listen up kids. I have a plan."
“I’m literally older than you hence the ‘hyung’”,
Seokjin interjected.
“Shush. Unimportant right now. So are you going to listen or what? Jimin, tell Jungkook to come over. Joon, call Yoongi and tell him to drag his ass back here asap. Operation Taejin is about to commence."
"Tae..jin? Did you really just give us a ship name?"
"Unimportant, hyung. Now let's get started..."
