Work Text:
You didn’t know what to do. The pressure of being around all those demons was overwhelming and it was taking a toll on you emotionally, along with mentally. If you were to continue living with them, you would go absolutely insane. You had nowhere else to go, though. So, you had no choice until one day you got tired of every single argument and being dragged into every single one of them.
Another day, another argument. You were in your room when you heard arguing. Which two were arguing this time? Letting out a small sigh, you got up out of bed and left the room. Once you walked downstairs, you couldn’t help but roll your eyes. Lucifer and Satan. Typical.
Usually, you’d be the one to step in and try to deescalate the problem but now, you don’t have the energy for it at all. You were so tired of this constant arguing and you wanted silence for once.
Attempting to get away, you turned away to walk back up the stairs to your bedroom when someone grabbed your arm, forcing you to turn around. It was Asmodeus. He looked a little unnerved. Pulling your arm away from him, you sighed and rubbed the bridge of your nose.
“I know, Asmo, but I do not have the energy to deal with this right now,” you told him. “They’ll end up making up sooner or later. Just let them fight it out.”
“Are you crazy?” He asked in return. “Last time, they destroyed the living quarters and almost set the entire House on fire!”
One more word out of him and you felt like you were going to lash out at the poor man. So, you shrugged him off and went to go slip your shoes on with a sigh. You felt bad for the siblings that were always dragged into this mess, but you know that Diavolo would take care of this situation.
“I’m sorry,” you murmured. “I can’t take this anymore. I must leave.”
Without another word, you left. It was evening and quite chilly outside, but you didn’t care. You needed to get somewhere else; somewhere that wasn’t full of arguments and negativity. The only place you knew that didn’t have that negativity was Purgatory Hall.
You were halfway there when you began to shiver, your teeth starting to chatter. You should have grabbed a jacket, but it’s too late now. What’s the point of turning around just for a piece of clothing? There wasn’t any point now. You were almost there.
As you approached Purgatory Hall's entrance, your fingers felt as though they were going to fall off and your face felt frozen. Shivering and shaking, you reached for the knocker and used it before pulling your arms back to your body to keep warm, even though it didn't help much.
After what felt like forever, one of the doors opened to reveal Simeon, whose face flashed from confused to concerned immediately after seeing your shivering image. You were pale and you couldn’t keep your teeth from chattering as you smiled lightly at him.
“(Y/n)! Come in, come in!” Simeon ushered you in the house and shut the door, picking up the nearest blanket and draping it on your shoulders before leading you to the living area to sit you down. You couldn’t help but slip off your shoes and snuggle up into the blanket, soaking up all the heat you could get.
When you opened your eyes back up, you couldn’t find Simeon anywhere. He could’ve gone to inform Luke and Solomon, but why so suddenly? Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t even notice that he had come back with a couple of teacups and a kettle, in the middle of pouring you a cup of tea.
“(Y/n)!”
You jumped, shaking your head before focusing on him.
“Why’d you come all the way here without a jacket? Even at night! You’re freezing cold and it’s not safe around here at night!” He looked painfully concerned for your safety as he placed a steaming teacup in your hands.
“Can I stay here for a few days?”
The question stopped him in his tracks before he sat down across from you, a saddened look on his face.
“Of course, but why?” His tone was soft, concerned.
It was tough, yet you managed to explain the whole situation to him. You explained how it made you feel, taking as much time as you needed; you knew he was patient with you when it came to stuff like this.
A sigh of disappointment escaped Simeon’s lips as he shook his head. He looked at you with saddened eyes, placing a hand on his cheek.
“They have no right to drag you into their quarrels. I may understand that you are a late descendant of Lilith, but I don’t think that they understand the way humans work. You humans can only handle so many emotions at once.”
You couldn’t help but chuckle lightly as you took a sip of tea, letting out a small sigh. His presence was comforting, and you didn’t know who else to turn to. This was the only way you’d be able to get away from the brothers for a period. You were thankful he understood.
“Thank you for understanding, Simeon,” you smiled. “I’m grateful that you’re allowing me to stay. I thought it would drive me insane.”
His chuckle was silvery; he had a chuckle that you could listen to all day long. What made it so fitting for him? It was unclear, but you felt like you knew. Despite your efforts, you could not find an explanation. Although you were tempted to jump over the coffee table and kiss him right there, you decided against it. It took a lot of willpower to resist.
As you drank your tea, the air was filled with a sense of comforting silence. The fact that you didn't grab a jacket to keep yourself warm on your walk made you feel stupid. However, you knew you had to leave before you became insane. You no longer had to be afraid of one of the demons killing you. You felt more at home here than anywhere else.
